should i order the gaskets to stop leak of gas and very monor oil leak, Idk when id install it though... Should i go ahead and order the haynes manual?
Dirty at bolts caus ive opened the valve cover and down to the cylinders before with help from my friend with the rare auto 88 Scirocco (sounds like a namr from gundam) and ive never replaced bolts.
>Tfw learn bolts for head wear on the thread more than they actually lose strength for most of them
>Only two of the headbolts are getting pulled at or to yield partly because the engine balance
>Auto can and will lug the engine if im not careful about throttle management.
I need to clean VTEC solenoid again and the fuel injection.

Why the fuck is the stock d17a2 muffler so loud, it sounds like indian throat singing into a moon shine jug.if i find a junk y8 header will it fit a d17a2's pipes to the cat and muffler. I want more low end torque. Also my exhaust header was well under torque, maybe first owner had aftermarket there when he stripped this thing.

Also is it bad to throttle shift from 2end to 3erd at a bit over 40mph. Auto makes it really hard to tell when it wants to shift and which stage of vtec its in... If it is multi stage for the d17a2. it kicks up rpm at 2800 and 4000 for me.

It's a little module made by the guy that subs the Hot Version videos on YouTube. Plugs into the three pin OBD1 diagnostic plug and let's me see everything managed by the ECU. All those graphs on either side can be changed to all kinds of other things, too. It's pretty sweet. Can even check CEL codes so I don't need to put my bulb back in and do the paper clip thing.

Really the only useful gauge in my car after using this is fuel. The others aren't even correct.

I damn near replaced every oil seal on my motor except for one I didn't know about. Oil Pump O-ring. Fucker leaks bad, i'm talking about 100ml-300ml of oil when I park, and turn it off. it probably spews when I actually drive. I ended up getting a second oil pan seal. Now I have to return that seal, and get the o-ring instead, the nearby Honda dealership isn't open on Sunday, so looks like I'm going to go a week before I pull the Oil Pump off.

Maybe it's just the climate and salt up here that does that shit faster.

Had a female I believe was from Florida while he address was in state, with the nasally voice, fruity clothes and abbrasive attitude tell the manager we did something wrong or so she said a tech told her from another store. Something about a pin in a caliper installed improperly.

He called the store, where they said it was not done wrong, just a bit rusty. She then removed the blame from herself by saying she didn't hear him properly while trying to read the note the other tech wrote that only mentioned that caliper pin.

And I spotted a redline on the lot.

On my H-Swapped EK I got a few problems i'd like pick your brain about. It uses a Jumper harness so it's ODB-I

First thing, the CEL codes never save. Every single time you turn off the car it goes off.

Second, I'm getting a check engine line, and as I can't check it, but the symptoms are these. The car will backfire irregularly, when not letting off throttle, or shifting etc. The car will sometimes hiccup when driving, like if you were to stab the throttle while driving.

I've already replaced the TPS and the MAF. Any other ideas?

And lastly, the EK is understeering pig. Does H2B swapping them really make that big of a difference? The car was setup for drag before I bought it, so could it be that the suspension is just setup improperly?

I guess I just want a baseline, for those do own EK's for how well they handle stock.

if i have the money for a first gen NSX should i pull the trigger?

Any NSX owners here to say what to avoid when getting one?
>>
>>16575813

91-92 has snap ring problem in the tranny
95-96 uses batch fire so forced induction runs lumpy
window regulators go to shit (theres only 1 guy who fixes these but he travels. Replacement parts are metal and not plastic but its shit he designed in his basement. hes an ex engineer from eastern europe)
ABS tends to take a shit
the climate control/radio center console plastic flakes and is plated so its not easy to repaint
the electric motors in the seats die
if you have a model with an antenna on top the antenna will smack the glass until you do something about it
most of the older ones will only put down 200-230 wheel horsepower
takes forever for car to warm up so you will keep hitting hard cut and wont go into vtec
if someone dents your car it is a real pain to fix since car is aluminum

I'm sure theres more I'm forgetting but this is what I experienced with 91, 96, 01. 91 was N/A, 96 was S/C and intercooled, 01 was just S/C

Oh also the handle for the hatch release breaks

TL;DR: I liked better than S2k (n/a and S/C) but overall pretty underwhelming for the money

J swap a hatch or something

If you like flip ups your best bet is to go 97+ for 3.2 and 6 speed. Can't answer as far as anything newer than 01.

Honestly it's not worth any amount of money unless it's running some kind of forced induction. The joke I always say is that NSX stands for "Not Super eXciting".

really though, the n/a version of the car is a disgrace unless you only care about style points. (AKA most of the chinks on NSX prime)

One thing you may not enjoy is literally everyone who owns an NSX is car stupid and doesn't know anything

Ask if there's a trans fluid service done on it before. Ideally if you want a Honda that new, get it with 30k miles or less. That's when the trans fluid change is due. Honda transmissions get a bad reputation since a majority neglect the trans fluid and they have shitty throttle control.
Look for something with less miles.

Yes, there is ho benefit to having a broken exhaust manifold.
But its not the end of the world. Worst case scenario, you develop an exhaust leak and achieve race car exhaust sound.
Doomsday scenario, you brun up valve due to cold air warping it from the exhaust leak.

If you have the time, fix it.

Yeah, the tach always gives me a good giggle.

So far, I've replaced the entire filter box assembly, cleaned the throttle body, albeit half-heartedly, and put a set of new plugs in it. I'm in exams week right now, so there's nothing I can do now. Once they're over, I'm gonna check the idle air control valve and see if any important electronics are busted.
The priority right now is brakes, so I can drive it short distances to a shop, and get the rockers and rust taken care of. It's nothing too bad, but it's relatively inexpensive if you know the right guy, and it'll save money in the long run.
>>
>>16577905
trust me I've looked, every EX or EX-L I've found nearby is pushing 100k or so with $9k-$10k asking
I'd rather spend a bit over twice as much and get something that'll last me more than twice as long than have something a bit more luxurious
>>
>>16577967
>$9k-$10k
Holy hell. fuck that, get as new as you can for the money, good luck Anon, an EX CM5 should be 6-7k in excellent condition imo.
>>
>>16577961
I just drove both a couple hours ago, I actually found the Civic to be more comfortable, at least for the short drive I took it on
I liked the interior layout better than the Accord, having the gear lever right where my hand would normally rest is nice, whereas I was reaching a little further in the Accord
Honestly wasn't expecting that since I'm 6'3"
Both of those engines are fantastic
I guess the naturally aspirated engine might be a bit more reliable than the turbo in the long run though

I'm working on acquiring parts for a B20 and auto-to-manual swap for my Integra.

The big spend is for the transmission. For those of you that have done swaps and dealt with transmission rebuilds before, would you say the money's worth it to buy a reman'd synchrotech versus landing a cheap junkyard trans and having it rebuilt at a local shop?

Yep the connectors are just like the stock ones, except they just have LEDs in place of the glass bulb. Brighter, cooler, and way more efficient which is great for my tiny Civic battery. It's like ten bucks for a bulb, though. Should never have to replace it at least.

Because I was too lazy to find it. Their website is a little tricky on mobile. That's pretty high miles for a 15

Black. It's the Fire HD 7 from like 2012 I think? I think I remember paying $50 new for it. Just waiting on Android Marshmallow to do its first boot up and I can get it all set up for Hondash.

Might make a good navigation device, too. It's gonna be tethering to my phone which I also use as home internet now.

>>16585235
Probably is. I bought mine before I got the LEDs from them for my gauge cluster. EG dome lights are pretty finicky, though. The connections for the switch are pretty loose and the dome light that came with the car had melted plastic.
>>
>>16585240
Mileage is just a number, I'd rather rave a car in good shape than one with 20k that's all sludged up because the owner is half retarted and didn't change the oil.
>>
>>16585257
Ugh my Corolla is a prime example of that.

>only 65k miles! crazy for a 94
>body is dented all over
>toasted wheel bearing
>coolant was dark gray sludge

I couldn't pass it up for 1500 bucks, though. It's still running like a champ. I suspect mileage rollback, though. A bad wheel bearing with miles that low isn't logical.

Me too. I hate that they and Top Gear allowed wet laps at all. It really messes up the lap times and gives the wet cars an unfair disadvantage.
>>
>>16585361
I can't get it running but on the plus side I got rid of that garbage Fire OS so I'll just give this back to my mom and get my LG tablet back from her. App should work on that.

Heyo /hg/, would love some insight here.

Since I got this car (2000 Civic EX) it's had a pretty bad whine at low RPMs, see the video for an example. I'm slowly making my car as quiet as possible and I have no idea where to start with this one. Any ideas what it could be?

Yeah it would have been a lot better if Amazon didn't put their own abomination of Android on it. It runs so much better with Cyanogenmod on it now.

If the app runs on the LG tablet I just need to find a way to mount it in front of my gauge cluster.

The refresh slapped on the upper fascia from the refreshed Rav4, and those side vent things from the Mirai. A curious design choice.

Sweet. Yeah B16 is definitely what I wanna pick up sometime. I wanna experience those mad 9k revs.

Honda is such a tease giving all the EGs 9k RPM tachometers.
