I just want to remind you guys that you aren't 'cool' or 'edgy' for riding motorcycles. No one secretly envies you or wants to be you. You aren't cool with your blacked out visors or loud exhausts. You're a nuisance to everyone and we wish you weren't on the road. If I could vote to ban motorcycles, I would. You entitled little brats think it's cool to weave in and out of traffic at high speeds and risk the lives of everyone? Wait your turn, just like all of us. my HH sintered front pads died after ~3,000 miles. im guessing its brake drag. what should be the first thing to fix this?
i was thinking of checking if the pistons are gunked up. but if i pump them all the way out will i start leaking brake fluid? I'm bad at getting bubbles out.

I'm actually saving up for one atm, but they're especially good if you're from canada since it has an add on sensor for the mobile camera traps, which most radar detectors wont detect

desu I'd recommend the 360 just because it's easy but I wouldn't get anything but ALP for a laser jammer

ps; the v1 can be set up better and more comprehensive than the 360, but that can be a hassle

>I own a V1 btw and it's saved me many times
>>
>>16431495
Make sure your levers are adjust properly so they actually open up the reservoir when you release it.
Push the pistons back all the way in then pump the lever to get them back out to where they normally are. The pistons can go out past their "normal" position before they start leaking but there is a point at which it will no longer be sealed.

never heard of it, it doesn't have a gps, says nothing about false filtering

dont be confused with the difference between laser jammers and laser detectors though because its a HUGE difference.

you can't detect a laser until you are hit with it, so if your detector goes off ITS TOO LATE

laser jammers actually react to getting hit with laser by sending confusing signals back to the gun making it impossible to get a positive reading but jammers need to be up to date as the latest radar gun to work which is why ALP is so good since they regularly send out updates

The year is 3030, pollution and over congestion has scarred the earth. Fossil fuels of all types have dried up and no feasible alternative for humanities power demands has been found other than nuclear power. Society relies entirely on cities built around enormous reactor clusters necessary to satiate the enormous power demands of the the 3 trillion soul population. Nearly all forms of life have been stifled out by humanity's overgrowth other than specialized furry breed mixed breed animals used as pets and sanitary accessories by the extremely wealthy consisting of a genetic mix of dog, chinchilla, and crustacean. The only other living multicellular organisms of note on the planet outside of research compounds are massive populations of enormous genetically modified mealworm and cockroaches. Science and technology development has nearly ground to a halt due to the scarcity of critical resources like lithium, iron, copper, molybdenum, and helium. Nearly everything humans make is made from aluminum or aerated concrete. Most technology jobs constitute development of more efficient ways to grow food, genetically modifying future generations to reduce reproduction, and the development of small, lightweight, efficient transport. Most people living in these cities live in small concrete domiciles with their only outlet being internet based communities for interaction and media sharing. Personal interaction is frowned upon and limited by government mandate to limit population growth and prevent the widespread rape and triggering of the previous millennia. People are now considered genderless, required to wear gender neutral clothes, and are assigned a gender neutral name like Julian and Bobbie by their parental unit consisting of two mothers, typically female or castrated biological male. The belief is the presence of a male influence or a 'father' figure during a child's development promotes tendencies towards aggression, competitiveness, and lack of empathy.
>>
>>16431957
Children are groomed from a young age and hormonally limited via the daily administration of estrogen to commit no microagressions, respect people's safe spaces, and participate in the global food production industry. This industry consists of massive underground farms constituting a self-perpetuating artificial ecosystem where the mealworm and cockroaches are grown off a diet of fecally consuming algae. This algae is in turn fed human waste and byproducts of the bug farms. The conditions are horrid and require the livestock to be consistently cycled to prevent crushing and keep them alive. In order for a sufficient food supply to be efficiently transported to all corners of human existence massive high pressure tubes carrying the processed nutrient must be pumped throughout these massive metropolises. The livestock must be ground, pressed, and steamed to process any large chunks and be cooked before being treated with long duration preservatives and put into the primary pressurization vessel for transport. The get to these grueling jobs on in sprawling farm complexes the most efficient form of transportation was developed. Due to the additive nature of urbanized development streets consist of thousands of twisted alleyways connecting short stints of larger expressways winding through enormous concrete complexes of dormitories for hundreds of miles in every direction. To traverse these challenging paths small two wheeled vehicles powered by high density batteries and supercapacitors from another age are developed. Barely produced anymore most of these contraptions of piecemeal from underground parts and typically consist of what we would measure as 5 horsepower motors. 4 wheeled transportation was abandoned long ago as highly inefficient both in the amount of material and energy used but also in the amount of physical real estate they take up.
>>
>>16431965
There are some however who refuse to conform to societies stifling whims. They construct loud obnoxious two wheeled machines from ancient parts of forgotten contraptions. They ferment and brew outlawed substances from stolen vats of nutritional algae to power these outlawed apparatus. They roam the streets to perfect the ancient lost art of the skid and drag their knees around corners at high speed in a dangerous manner terrifying those who would rather conform than challenge themselves or be challenged.

These hooligans fight for freedom and search for the everyday thrill of life. They call themselves the Disciples of the Moto.

Carefully formulated troll post

This is what motorcyclists think OTHER people, specifically aging conservatives, women, blacks, and other people who are stereotyped as being less than mentally flexible, think of them. You know, every edgy kiddo has that fantasy where cletus mcdumbfuck gets out of his cletus mcdumtruck and is all "yew wait in line, yew no good younging, aint yer parents ever take you to church, yew think yew hot shit, yew aint even been alive seventy years son i know better than yew" and they drop a fedora-flipping one liner and ride off while he breaks down in tears of rage and stupidity.
>>
>>16432400
he's full of shit

motogymkhana riders with stellar form can get rid of their strips just by very taking tight turns at otherwise modest speeds. how much tire you're using is all about the relation between speed and the turn you're trying to make.

if you still have strips it's a sign you're not fully enjoying your bike anywhere and need to try something other than commuting for once

I'm mostly in agreeance with this, enjoyment comes down to the rider, if you don't like doing twisites or speedy corners, and your thing is just riding, then by all means. But having strips and and undermining your bike because you wanna go faster, or whatever the reason, THEN it's obvious you're not enjoying your motorcycle like you SHOULD be.

The only crack down in Australia I've seen on the track is with helmet mounted cameras/go pros. Most tracks don't let you ride with one now, or will only allow bike mounted

Something to do with Michael Schumacher, as his helmet mounted camera was the big reason for his injury.

oh, and our import laws relating to motorcycles suck the fucking dick but apart from that it's all year round riding.

I checked it out in person and despite the fairings being fugged, the rest of the bike is in great shape.

Most expensive parts would be upgrades to OEM components: forks, rear suspension, clipons, rearsets, and weight reduction components. That being said you can pick up a fully sorted titleless track bike for about 2.5k so you're only advantage is yours is street legal.

nobody is going to put a $1k ohlins shock on the bike and sell it for $2k. OEM forks can be modded with progressive springs for cheap.

Depends on the bike and the rider. If you're talking a WR250X or a DRZ400SM, no they wont keep up with a sportbike with a competent rider.

But start talking about a converted WR450F, converted 5xx EXC, converted XR650R, a 690SMC, etc. and you're looking at bikes that will easily keep up with and even be faster on twisties with speeds under 80mph or so with decent riders and decent tires. Meaning pretty much any set of twisties you'll hit on the street. Don't underestimate a properly setup supermoto.

A lightly modded and converted 525 EXC with some work into the suspension is a fucking weapon in the twisties.
>>

Buy, Husqvarna 701 or a used 690 SMC or TE610. DRZ400 if you want cheap and reliable.

I've had supermoto people say that supermotos would be faster than sportbikes around actual racetracks because of their cornering and it's like, dude...no.

WRX's are cheap babbies first sumo bikes. They get old quick if you have any amount of experience on a bike. Get a WRX to see if you like the versatility and go-anywhere fun that a supermoto offers. Then upgrade to a better factory supermoto or convert one yourself. A 450-500cc class dirtbike is probably the optimum balance of weight, power, and price. You just have to deal with the maintenence. An XRR is also a fantastic supermoto conversion candidate if you can live with the kickstart.

>>
>>16433597
Supermotos are fast in a specific speed range, typically 0-60 or 70. From there a 600 will easily be faster with it's higher power to weight, higher overall power, and taller gearing.

This is what makes supermotos so much fun on the street. They make all the power and all the speed you need within the range you can access reliably on the street. And they handle really well and are really easy to ride fast. That's why they are faster on the street under real world conditions.

You can get on the gas sooner and harder on a supermoto than you can a sportbike with less skill. If you power slide on a supermoto it's easily controllable, if you slide on a modern sportbike you're probably going to highside or traction wobble without fantastic throttle control.

In the real world on real roads, for equal skill a rider will almost always be faster on a supermoto than he will on a sportbike unless we start getting into utterly fantastic riders looking to get themselves killed extracting all the performance of a sportbike on a mountain road, which excludes everyone on /dbt/

>Any 600 less than 10 years old will be making 115+ to the rear wheel
What fantasy land are you living in? Modern brand new factory floor 600's make ~115hp at the crank.

An piped, jetted and uncorked XRR is pretty much free and makes mid 50whp. Camed and high comp piston they are easily 60+whp.

Pic related. highest power from a true 600cc bike is 104 whp.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

I've actually ridden an XR650R I know they're great bikes but they're wonky on road without serious work.

You've basically had to make fantasy numbers in order for this to work out in favour of the sumo. (overweight 600, overly powerful XR650R, ignoring weight of rider etc.)

I like sumos, just sumo riders are often unbelievably full of shit, like you.

>>16433615
>Supermotos are fast in a specific speed range, typically 0-60 or 70.

I disagree mainly due to sumos high COG, my bike accelerates off the line better than 450s because it's less likely to wheelie.

this doesn't mean I don't sumos just it's not a sportbike, the sportbike was designed to around normal tracks as fast as possible, that's what they do.

It's something very specific to sumo people that the bikes need to better than everything always, nobody is out there saying a 1000 is gonna be better around a go kart track than a sumo bike but according to sumo people there's just nothing else worth owning, I dont' get it.

Exactly why you have to fit 17's, get a larger front brake, and work over the suspension. Do you know wat a supermotard is?

>You've basically had to make fantasy numbers in order for this to work out in favour of the sumo.
Wrong, those are real numbers. A HRC race kit XR650R is about 65whp. You can build equivelent performance without going HRC. Full of fuel a XRR is about 300lbs.

Modern 600's weigh in the 430lb range and make ~100whp. Where are the made up numbers?

>I disagree mainly due to sumos high COG, my bike accelerates off the line better than 450s because it's less likely to wheelie.
You are now aware supermotos run higher rate springs and are typically lifted in the rear/lowered in the front. And who the fuck is talking about drag racing anyway? Nobody buys/builds a supermoto to drag race.

>the sportbike was designed to around normal tracks as fast as possible, that's what they do.
And there's the key. Sportbikes are built for racetracks. Meaning their performance envelope encompass higher speeds than you're likely to ever reach on a mountain road. A supermoto on the other hand is fast as shit in the speeds youre likely to be hitting on that same mountain road, while being easier to ride at those speeds. Which is why they are as fast or faster in the real world, with real riders, on real roads.

Modern 600's are geared to hit like 80mph in first gear. A supermoto will be through at least 4 gears by that point with substantial torque multiplication dividends.

That same sportbike is going to be struggling to stay on power in turns lower than 50-60mph when it's out of its powerband in first gear, real world it's probably going to be in second at those speeds anyway. Meanwhile a supermoto makes torque everywhere and has a plethora of gears to choose from at that speed.

You have no idea what you're talking about. You've probably never even ridden a real supermoto.

I own an R6.

They are shit at low-mid range RPM due to the factory throttle restriction tuning.

Pic related, the factory electronic throttle map. Notice how you only actually get full throttle from 11,000 to 13,500rpm?

Luckily a $120 tune from Bauce Racing fixes this and opens the bike up to it's real potential. The midrange becomes night and day compared to stock.

Emissions and noise most likely.

Restrict it to part throttle at low rpm where emissions testing and noise testing takes place then open it up at high rpm for a hot second to make dem peak numbers to sell bikes.

it's not a negative or a positive for either, some people are gonna find one type easier to ride fast and some will find the others easier to ride.

Whichever one is "easier to ride" still doesn't really matter because end of the day the riders are gonna have a bravery limit for the most part.

Beyond that, people don't actually really race on the road in the twisties, they don't go to 100% it doesn't matter, it's not a problem, it always just comes down to how fast one of the party decided to go.

Is /dbt/ really so obsessed with bench racing we need to have these battles over scenarios that don't happen?

People do track days and go all out.

The end result is 90% of the sport riders get passed unceremoniously by a guy on a supermoto and then he hangs out with that one rider who's actually good.

This probably has nothing to do with supermotos and more to do with supermoto riders usually being more experienced and most sport riders just being street kids who started riding in their 20s.

more often than not I've been on the "braver" side when coming up to other riders on the twisties. Never a supermoto mind you, like I said you just don't actually see them that often on the twisties here.

It really doesn't make you fast to be riding faster than other people on the twisties, it really really really doesn't.

>>16433740
nor did I see a single motard at any trackday I've been to for that matter. 1st corner is 180 km/hr here though so it probably isn't as motard friendly as many tracks.

I currently own a Ninja ex250. It isn't special. The seat is torn.
I'm selling it this year to buy a Yamaha Radian. Probably should fix the seat. A bit of vinyl should do nicely. I'm wondering if I should do the whole seat, or just patch it.
It's only a Ninja. No one is worried about the aesthetic of a beginner bike.

I'm also at a loss on where to begin customizing the Radian. I want to do led lights and signals, and replace the exhaust with a 4 into 1. I'm probably going to keep the stock handlebars, or adjust the bike a little for my height.

But I'm not really expecting to go whole hog. I'm considering doing an exhaust wrap because I'll be dailying an air cooled 4 cylinder from spring to winter. Maybe a bikini fairing to go with the led switch.

I'm also considering whether to buy heated grips, or get muffs for the winter.

If your brakes work, aren't overheating (you'd notice!) and don't leak or drag absurdly I'd replace the pads with something different.

Also mop the old fluid out of master cylinder, replace with fresh, and bleed caliper(s) until you get happy clear fluid. Need it or not, you get rid of old fluid and the entrained moisture in it.

You can unbolt your calipers leaving the lines connected and examine the visible piston/rubber boot area for crud or gunk.

Rebuild if want since it's easy. I pump the pistons almost all the way out before manually removing them. If you have compressed air you can restrain their extension with a clamp so pistons don't fly across your shop and blow them most of the way out.

If you want to keep riding with no downtime, good used calipers are usually cheap via Ebay. Many nice people rek their bikes so you can have cheap spares.

Vintage Japanese forums. If possible, get factory service manual. You might find one for download. If not possible, Haynes/Clymer/Chilton second best.

In future post the fucking year. At least you got to MAKE and MODEL. Always reflexively post YEAR, MAKE and MODEL in forums when asking questions. No reasons exist not to do that.

Radians are solid machines. Inspect everything you can see and fondle, change all fluids including fork oil which many neglect.

Yamaha made manybikes with same/similar parts so spares are easy to find.

Exhaust wrap is mostly ghetto way to cover rust while trapping moisture. It's the latest version of the BBQ black paint meme. It overheats pipes so I don't do it but I would to sell something with rusty exhaust.

If you mod the exhaust, sort out the carbs because they are EPA leaned from the factory. Not difficult. I usually drill the low speed jets with either stock or aftermarket exhausts. Ignore the autists who say not to drill jets. It works. Can go into detail if you want later on.
