So the CBR250RR is pretty much done. Have to straighten the handle bars, mount mirrors, and tape the indicators on and it's technically road legal. I avoided an inspection by processing it as a historic.

I need a fresh battery too, it has to be jump or bump started at the moment. Starts fine off the electric start after it's run for a bit.

You have to mess around a bit with the idle adjuster as it warms up as well. Once it's warm it actually runs great again.

The exhaust mount got bent in slightly when it was hit so there's a small gap between the top of the midpipe flange and the can at the moment. It's deafeningly loud as a result. It's pretty funny.

Honestly learn to use your bike fully before you go replacing stuff. It's better to know what you need before you buy it.

Whole reason I chose to get rearsets instead of a decat pipe. I'd rather not scrape peg than have a tiny bit more power.

do rims really do that much apart from looking cool and reducing a bit of weight? same with an aftermarket can, it mostly only looks and sounds great, but if you don't properly de-cat it and adjust the ECU, your bike probably loses a bit of power instead of gaining it.

I'd like to think the wheels made the bike feel a bit more flickable and planted while cornering due to being lighter, but the reality is I also swapped the tires so that could also be another factor. You're not really going to notice a difference unless you spring for magnesium wheels which are much lighter than aluminum ones.

Any lighter wheel options that WILL make a bigger difference are usually absolute shit for street-ridden bikes, such as magnesium (lolcorrosion and cracking) or Carbon Fiber (rock chips turn into frayed wheels)

I bought the marchesinis because they're cheaper than OEM MV wheels, easier to find, and I needed a set of wheels since the OEM ones were trashed. That's it.

I had a pretty bad accident in September: Tanker truck had leaked oil all over my lane and I somehow managed to high side, bike totaled and was hospitalized for 2 days. I got a new bike since then and love it, but now every time I have to come to a hard stop I'm afraid my wheels are going to lock or I'll lose grip like how I did in the accident. How could I get over this fear? I don't have ABS so I can't calm myself with that, it wasn't a concern at the time of buying a new bike. Maybe just riding more to teach myself that won't happen?

Only recommendation I have is to practice locking up your tire on dirt or wet asphalt.

I started on dirt bikes where you're used to tires sliding around. Had my front and rear lock up a few times and start to slide out a few times (front and back) but recovered because you don't freak out and know how to act when it happens.

I love my sport-naked but really missed my windscreen of my sport-touring in the first few weeks of ownership. Now I've gotten used to it and don't really care.

Costs a fuckload and you need a team to maintain it though. The suspension alone costs more than the H2R and you need to 'charge' the pneumatic valves every time you go for a ride.

Helps on the highway when it's windy having 18 wheelers go by. And as for speed it's obviously not gonna pop dank willies. But it has plenty of get up and go. I usually cruise at 70-80 on the highway with no problems. Topped out at 120ish. So plenty good for me

It goes the same way for people that buy a sportbike and just leisurely roll around and commute to work while being uncomfortable, or people that buy nakeds when they ride of freeways with a bunch of wind blowing on them. They just shouldn't have those because there are better tools for the job.

A cruiser is literally the worst choice for him. You Harley faggots sure get triggered easily. Any question about why he would ride that and you resort to ad hominem attacks.

Additionally, in terms of tool for the job, that's not the only factor when buying a bike. I bought a naked because it was reliable, fast 'nuff, and cheep. I do a good amount of freeway with it because it's my dd, and yes there are superior bikes but I don't happen to have one.

>>16401711
Yes you need armor. Leather is best, Nylon and Polyester is popular because cheap but just doesn't compare.

There is a lot of fashion involved with what people wear, lots of label-whoring. Dainese and Alpinestars are high-end labels. The track stuff is good but some of the street stuff is not as protective as it should be for the money. Icon is med-tier, next is Joe Rocket, which isn't prestigious but is quite protective.

Also, there is a lot of Pakistani stuff on Fleabay which holds together quite well in a crash, despite looking old-fashioned, like from the nineties. There is also stuff from China on Ebay that claims to be leather but isn't. Don't be suckered.

Speed and Strength, Bilt, Moose are store-brands and are mixed at best, kinda awful at worst.
