looks like it would make a light bike weigh nearly 200kg, i imagine it is really bad for the engine to be turning that track over too.

The track would cause a lot of stress on the engine just to turn over,

Anyone have any experience with excel/talor or warp 9 wheels?

I have a set of both and both fit on the axle with appropriate collars but there is a solid 14mm gap between the collar and the swingarm on the left side of the hub and another 10mm between the collar and the brake caliper bracket on the right side of the hub.

Both claim that these wheels fit with OEM spacers and hardware and their bearings and bearing seals.

I've checked the parts breakdown and I have all the OEM required hardware.

Should I just order up some bushing material and make spacers or stack some washers to make up the difference on each side once the brake rotor/caliper and the sprockets are aligned?
Am I missing something obvious?

Should I just space it with washers until it looks right? Looks like it might benefit from a washer between the caliper bracket and the swingarm as well to get proper caliper/rotor alignment.

None of this is called for by either wheel maker nor by the manufacturer parts diagrams.

Am I going to fuck something up by eyeballing the wheel to the center of the frame, measuring spacer widths needed between each component, then stacking appropriate amounts of washers to take up the space?

I can get the correct size washers in 5 packs for like $6 from mcmaster, probably just need two packs.

Spine protectors are mostly flat, semi-flexible, and conform to the spine.

Your tryhard solid backpack is not flat, is not flexible, and does not conform to the spine.

You do the math.

Put one on and lay on your back. See how you're back/neck is forced into an awkward backwards arch because of the solid piece of garbage you strapped to it?

Now imagine your back/neck being forced into that awkward position with a forceful impact.

Say goodbye to your spine after your shit gets all snapped the fuck up.

Yes putting something solid on your back is dangerous.

Yes that includes putting something solid in a regular soft backpack while riding.
>>
>>16403596
what if
its a solid back protector

in
my jacket
>>
>>16403600
CE rated back protectors are flat and somewhat flexible.

The flat part is really key. If you land on even a flat plate of steel on your back it won't be forced into an awkward/unnatural position and snap your shit all up.

On the other hand if you strap a tryhard solid backpack that isn't flat and land on it (or a soft backpack with somehting solid that isn't flat), it will force you spine to conform into an awkward/unnatural position and snap your shit all up.
>>
>>16403588
>>16403596
Riding with any backpack on is more dangerous because if you crash it catches on shit and tosses you around, doesn't matter if it's motorcycle specific or hard or soft.

If you're willing to risk it just wear any fucking backpack.

You say both sets have the same exact problem?

Simple solution is to call warp 9 and get the spacers for your bike and their wheels rather than being a nigger with washers.

You can bitch about the fact that the spacers you have don't fit some more if you would like but your wheels will still not work.

>850cc ideal middleweight/power blend
>lovely triple sound

But it is just unforgivably ugly. Look at it. It's a fucking bulky and fiddly plastic mess of transformer futurism. Why yamaha?

I wear a thin rock climbing day pack made by Mountain tools, it's called a stealth pack.

I've had it at least 25 years, worn it up tens of thousands of feet of rock climbing. landed flat on my back coming off a bike at least 3 times. I've slid down the road on it for at least 100 yards.

Low profile, it's designed to stay out of the way holds just enough and doesn't get in the way.

Quit looking at motorcycle fashion shit and look at gear that was designed to be abused and unobtrusive.
>>
>>16403836
I think it looks fine. There's no fiddly plastic mess going on there at all. It has the same number of plastic bits as literally every dirt bike made in the past 10 years.

That's why a 90s VFR still looks decent today but bmw K1s look cringe and embarrassing. The tracer is going to age rapdily and get discarded the moment the next trend comes along.

>now you have radial mount brakes, very high quality calipers, and the ability to easily swap rotor sizes.
>>
>>16404093
>>16404376

They work you just need to get the appropriate size skateboard wheels so that the threaded rod and nut aren't sticking past the skateboard wheel.

You also need to buy cheap wheels that are hard so they are less grippy and will slide easier

You also need to caliper the inside of your hollow axles and know the size of your threaded rod. Then buy the appropriate size plastic bushing off mcmaster to take up the smace inside the axle between the inner wall of the axle and the threaded rod. Both so the rod doesn't mar the axle and so in the event of a crach the threaded rod isnt able to bend inside the hole creating bigheadaches for you.

My bike gets hot too if its not moving

Cut/machine/weld..

Calipers are too thick, distance from the inside of the rotor to the spokes is about 30mm, Almost all of the radial calipers are 35-40mm thick from pad surface to outside edge, if you try and shave it you'll bust through into the piston pocket.
>>
>>16404555
Probably low on coolant and/or blown head gasket. Possibly warped/damaged other parts from the overheating. Honestly I wouldn't buy that with expectations of fixing it and it being reliable. Maybe useful for parts tho.
>>

I just wrapped some duct tape around the threaded rod till it was the right diameter to not flop around on the inside.
>>

Try to find a single action caliper from a sport bike. That should fit better. 2002- ZX6R or 2007+ ZZR600 might be a good place to look.

I just centered it and tightened down the nuts until friction of the wheels held it in place. Worked fine.

Make sure to get the largest threaded rod you can tho. Mine bent in a crash. Also you might need to space the wheel out from the axle to actually get an benefit. With mine right against the forks they wouldn't touch the ground at all if I laid the bike down.

I just run without them now tho. I don't think they're really going to save anything.

i got the racks as much for protection as i did for luggage handling.
they look horrible since theyre empty , ill load them up for a test run later on
the jumbo tool tube is a nice perk too

But panniers cost as much as a motorcycle because motorcycle, even aftermarket, so what are you gonna do? Bolt a toolbox to a makeshift rack you made out of sheet metal using a hammer and a hand drill?

90s VFRs are uggo. It looks like someone dumped a vat of faggotronium on top of a CBR600F4 and then tried to stretch it out sideways.

Go take a look at it then, this time with your glasses on

It's a fine, bulletproof bike after you fix the overheating r/r issue despite it handling something like a hayabusa after thanksgiving, but it's not that good looking. it looks like a 90s bike.

If you have a lathe then you know how to check end play using your dial or other indicator so why not turn bushings? I would. It's kinda the point of having lathe access.

>Am I going to fuck something up by eyeballing the wheel to the center of the frame, measuring spacer widths needed between each component, then stacking appropriate amounts of washers to take up the space?

Probably not if you know how to run a lathe. Non-machinists sometimes don't get tolerances right.

You can play with spacer washers to get your desired width, confirm drive sprocket alignment with laser level or laser pointer etc and shim. Your caliper floats of course so align the sprockets.

Chopper and custom builders do it every day.

You could check to see if a single-sided Performance Machine aftermarket Harley caliper will clear. Some are machined thinner than others for different applications.

Fab Kevin is a caliper guru and may know a candidate. I'd contact him with relevant measurements. He's cool to deal with too.
