Definitely gonna look into picking up Ground Control coilovers to slip into my Konis as soon as I can. Maybe take it to a tuning shop afterward that can dial out the height as low as possible while still having even tire wear. Will be higher than it is now but the tires will last a lot longer.

Also need to figure out the rattling at 2000~rpm. Sounds like it's coming from a pulley? That and VTEC is all that's left as far as I know. Maybe paint and body sometime next year?

Last thread died one post after me, so I'll repost here.

I'm pretty convinced I want an Accord Euro of some description, which year is best year of the 02-07 luxury trimmed models? I've never owned a Honda let alone a FWD car before. Obviously going for the Six-Speed manual, but are their any other specific details to look for in an accord?

whats wrong with vtec? not wired? its ez pz

>>16362513
Just get center console out of 92-95 civic with armrest
>>
>>16362612
My uncle accidentally broke the wire to it when he did the head gasket (which is holding up perfect so far). He wired it back together without the OEM plug and it won't kick in anymore. connecting it straight to the battery makes it work but I don't feel anything while driving it. Might hook up a quick little light to confirm it isn't working.
>>
>>16362632
You are connecting the solenoid straight to the battery? When? At idle? Or at RPM with a switch? I'm just trying to get a picture here
>>
>>16362646
With the car off, I just connect a wire from the battery to the solenoid wire and I hear it click. I'll try it again at the ECU side of the wire to confirm that there are no breaks in the wire anywhere.
>>

Guys pls. I need sage wisdom.
>>
>>16362658
Well when you have everything plugged in do you get a CEL?
>>
>>16362682
Oh it always has a CEL because deleted O2 sensors. I took the bulb out. I'm fairly certain it's some kind of wiring issue somewhere.
>>
>>16362694
Are you running OBD2?
>>
>>16362710
OBD1. Before I took the bulb out it only had O2 sensor related codes. No emissions here so didn't bother replacing them.
>>
>>16362612
do a diy video pls. I wanna see how hard it is
>>
>>16362722
Not ideal to run without O2. It's not just an emissions issue, running pigfat all the time isn't great.

Also if you are running OBD1 you could potentially set up datalogging and find out if vtec is turning on etc. But that might be more than what you want to do

>>16362724
Okay, won't be for like a week but I'll do one
>>
>>16362736
Another reason I didn't have them was because the exhaust it used to have had all the bungs welded shut and it ran fine so I didn't mess with it.

Easiest way I can see if it's working is to run a wire from the vtak wire to a small light so if it does kick it, the light turns on.
>>
>>16362773

Well just make sure its a 12v test light and you're good to go.

You should really have a O2 sensor
>>
>>16362804
Yeah I was thinking about bringing it back when I got the new exhaust in. It's just one sensor right? Might also think about putting a wideband in for more useful info. Got a total of three bungs to work with. One in the downpipe and two in the test pipe.

Since datalogging was mentioned I looked up Hondash that Miroshi has for sale. Pretty cheap at just under $60 and it lets me see all kinds of cool shit. Thought about doing a dash install just for this so I may actually do it sometime. Until then it works great on my phone. If I ever do something like Hondata though it won't work anymore but I highly doubt I'll do any serious performance stuff on it since I need it as a high MPG daily driver.

I was looking at a 07-11 SE-R Spec V w/100k miles for $4100 when this came up. How would it do as a daily? I heard the K24 swaps are a drop in swap, and I know Certified Racing is a reputable shop in the area. I might have to change the mounts though, 95A is retarded stiff.

Pic Related, first thing I'd buy. There's even a set on CL with new snow tires already for $500.
>>

OBD1 is just one sensor yeah.

If you are going to put a wideband in and tune it:

Wideband must always be on/heated when engine is running or it will foul very quickly

When you tune the car in open loop, the narrowband O2 sensor is disabled. Meaning you should remove it.

Lastly, there are minimum distances for the wideband. i dont remember offhand but you want to look into that.

If you do end up getting a wideband and want to tune it cheaply, I can make you a basemap in crome and you can send me your logs.

Damn that is a nice price for that. Getting jelly.

>>16363387
I think I'll start with a basic sensor for now and try out that Hondash kit. Plugs right into the ECU and tracks all kinds of things. Even has built in CEL reader so I can keep my dash clean.

Tires first though. My current ones are on their last legs. I'll hopefully prevent this from happening when I get the Ground Control coilovers.
>>
>>16363418
Well you can chip your ecu and do datalogging for less than the cost of that hondash. (So now you have logging and you can flash it) But whatever makes you happy
>>
>>16363452
How much is it? I still have a bit before I get to messing with ECU stuff.
>>
>>16363459
To chip your ecu is going to run you about 12-14 dollars

Datalogging cable is going to run you like 6-10 bucks

best case: 18 dollars
worst case: 24 dollars

in terms of flashing a basemap or something like that, like I said I have the shit to do it and I'd do it for absolutely free. it takes like literally 20 seconds

It wasn't completely terrible but the resonator hangs just as low as my mud flaps so they scraped on things they didn't scrape on before. I drove very slowly so any dips in the road wouldn't fuck anything up.

I bet stiffening my Konis would have helped for once. They were on the softest setting. I had maybe half an inch of space between my rear tire and the top of the wheel well. No tire rub at all amazingly and my exhaust didn't hit the LCA like it used to with only my roommate in the car with me.

I'm trying to decide on a swap for my EG Hatch
B16A2 VS B18C1
From what I hear these two swaps are plug and play and decent when stock for a daily driver
I'm looking for
>reliability, 50 miles a day
>high revs but mild driving below VTEC.
>cheap and easy swap
>I want to keep up with FRS's and BRZ's either in the straights or the curves, I will have suspension by this time to back it up(Koni yellows and GC's)

Which one should I do?
I'm not looking to rev past 8000 realistically, but I want precise engine response and I don't want to accidentally throw a rod because I revved it too high.
Good gas mileage is a major plus

The B18 has more horsepower, torque, but one less MPG than the B16. If I ever get the chance I'd love to turn my hatch into an SiR-II clone engine and all.
>>
>>16368319
That kind of intake, is bad idea? My engine chokes up and I want to feed as much air to it, since i need to step on the throttle for it to not die.
>>
>>16368327
Might have a bad idle air control valve? Mine does that if I unplug it. Might be either unplugged or stuck closed. A new intake won't really fix something like that.
>>
>>16368293
B16
>>
>>16368293
First and foremost, let's sort out what you want and apply it to your selection.

1. reliable
2. high revs but mild driving (but not over 8k)
3. cheap and easy to swap
4. I want to keep up with brz
5. good gas mileage

Some facts before we start:

B16A2:
111 lb*ft of torque @ 7500 rpm
160 hp @ 7600 rpm
Rod to stroke ratio: 1.74
fuel cut: 8500 rpm

B18c1:
128 lb*ft of torque @ 6200 rpm
170 hp @ 7600 rpm
rod to stroke ratio: 1.58
fuel cut: 8200 rpm

Now humor me and let's ad B20 to the options:

B20Z2:
140 lb*ft of torque @ 5500 rpm
150 hp @ 6200 rpm
rod to stroke ratio: 1.54
fuel cut: 7200 rpm if same as JDM motor

(also, for reference the FRS/BRZ puts out 200 hp @ 7000 rpm and 151 lb*ft torque @ 6600 rpm)

1. All motors left in stock form are going to be relatively the same in reliability

result: tie

2 and 4. The closer a motor is to a rod to stroke ratio of 1.75 the more ideal it is for revving high.
For instance, the B16A2 is nearly ideal, however it outputs low torque even at 7500 RPM. Meaning it's going to be gutless until you rev the shit out of it

The b18c1 doesn't rev as high due to worse R/S ratio but makes up for it in displacement. It picks up 17 torque and brings peak torque down all the way to 6200, meaning it's putting out good power in the mid range. (But consider normal driving is 3k RPM or less, so youll have to crack it open to get full potential)

b20z2 has a lot more torque due to the displacement and it's even lower RPM meaning it comes on even sooner at 5500 RPM. It has an even worse R/S so it hits fuel cut at around 7200 RPM only.

Meaning if you don't want to rev super high to get to your power (or want torque at launch), the B20 is going to have the most grunt. B18c1 is the absolute fastest you can go though

result: B20Z2 + b18c1 tie depending on preference

pt 1/2
>>
pt 2/2

3. B20Z2 as a complete longblock will run you from 150-300 dollars due to the widespread use in CRVs. B16a2 is easily going to run triple that. B18c1 typically slightly more expensive than B16a2. Figure tranny will cost you 300-600 regardless of what you get

result: B20Z2 winner, b16a2 honorable mention

5. Gas mileage is going to be pretty similar, but obviously smaller motor typically leads to better fuel economy

result: b16a2 winner

Last word: If you want to compare vs BRZ, lets look at power to weight
ASSUME ALL B SWAPS WEIGH ROUGHLY THE SAME AND +100lbs from stock

BRZ: .0718 hp/lb
b16a2: .0725 hp/lb
b18c1: .0770 hp/lb
b20z2: .0679 hp/lb

So, our final scores are (win =1 pt, honorable mention =.5 pt):

B20Z2: 3 points overall
B18c1: 3 pts
B16a2: 3 pts

What did we learn? It really doesn't fucking matter.

B20Z2 is cheapest but you will lose vs a BRZ in terms of power to weight (however having down low torque makes for good driving). If you want to beat a BRZ on paper the cheapest way you can, go with a b16a2. If you want the absolute best N/A performance for any budget possible, go with the B18c1.

Last but not least, dont forget about gearing. B16 tranny will have shorter gearing and will make your car faster. LS tranny is like being asleep at the wheel. GSR tranny is fast but also gives ok gas mileage. No idea about if you can use B20 tranny but I'm assuming it's shit

Best case scenario: B16 tranny with an LS tranny 5th gear. Fastest setup with best 5th gear for fuel economy on highway

Feel free to ask me about forced induction

What sucks about putting that trim on those models is that they don't sell the tape on trim anymore. I had to buy the clip ones and modify them to work with tape.

Thank you very much anon.
You've sold me on a B16 swap for cost and effectiveness.
Which B16A variant should I get considering my host car is a 1992 EH hatch?
What would I need to accomplish the swap? How much would it run me?
How hard is it to get an LS final gear in the B16 transmission?
At the moment I have 13" VX wheels and I get major understeer because of them, it might be due to my monstrous ride height but I've been looking into replacing them with an OEM wheel that will give me better grip and possibly clear a GSR big brake upgrade all around.
Should I go for an HX, GSR blade, or???? As my wheel and tire replacement.
Thank you so much, man.

Oil leak/consumption, synchros going bad, power steering leak, rust underneath. If you don't wanna buy manual, make sure they have a service record of it being done every 30k miles. If you can't find that and you really want an auto civic, get a corolla. 7th gen civics have the worst auto trans.

hey, anon that made the long posts here.

warning: im super drunk

it doesn't really matter which b16 variant you use, but youll most likely end up with b16a2

You're probably going to need mounts, ECU, jumper harness (if you want to run an obd1 ecu), and axles to do the swap

You can probably do cheaper somewhere but hasport mounts are 400,

motor is variable in price, could be like 700 bucks
tranny is 300+
ecu is about 75
jumper is ???
axles ???

figure you can do it comfortably for a couple grand

swapping gears in tranny is relatively easy but not super easy since you have to have 2 trannys and also have to take shit apart

you are probably not getting understeer from the ride height. if you are getting understeer you should stiffen up the rear end in general

also see this image im attaching

I plan on moving out to Los Angeles. but from what I keep on hearing from my friends are things like "it's illegal" to have an engine swap, and other after market components. Does anyone know first hand how strict these regulations are? Currently have b18b1 in my hatch. I plan to keep it like that.
Also currently live in a state where we have no smog emission checks, nor is it illegal to have engine swaps. lol

Well im sure theres some way of using some from another car or another trim. You should take a look into that.

otherwise a starting point is like 24mm in the front and 21-22 in the rear

do yourself a favor and do the rear one first, and drive on that and see how you like it before touching front end

Nah but I found them for the same price at tireseasy.com. They even come with free road hazard which I'd have to pay extra for. Looking at $187.56 for them 1-2 day shipping.

Just had to make sure I had money for bills to buy them. I didn't really buy any Christmas gifts this year aside from a few for my sister. I pay her phone bill anyway so that's a pretty nice gift.

Ordered them and decided to try out Affirm so I don't have to pay for it all at once. Only $16 extra bucks to pay off over 6 months for $34 a month. Will let me get those Ground Controls sooner. I don't expect these tires to last much longer than those six months anyway so I think it works out.

Ive posted in previous threads but I take it you haven't seen. The lash was way off and I found that it spit out a few intake rocker arms. Originally I had thought it was a spark or fuel problem but I did a compression test and there was 0 on 1 and 4. Opened the valve cover to check timing and found them laying around. These cars are kinda rare where I'm from so I'm just gonna run with it. Maybe I'll one day find a gsr or type r cam and cut it to fit as I've seen others do for this car.

If all goes well, I should have myself a new shell in the next week. It won't get home until I do.

I'll take vids of the reshell. The engine, electronics, interior is coming out of my Integra and going into this one. I'll strip mine down and have it hauled off when I'm back at home.

I tried to save it, but only so much can be done. The rear portion of the unibody that welds to the quarter panel on both sides was coming apart from the quarter panel near the bottom. My buddy painted it and did all the body work, but she's done. Fiberglass cracked from the sounds of it. I'm done, time for a new shell.

That means all the basic shit is going to go in it and it'll come with me to Vermont until it's done so then it can sit until I'm done with the military.

As of at the moment RIP Integra 1990-2017

I can't justify keeping it like this. I even let my Prelude go easier than the Integra and I had lots more sentimental value to that shitpan.

I'll do it fucking live lol. I have two or two and a half weeks in March to get as much done as possible. Probably just regasket my engine for now and go back with all the other parts later on.

My Integra needs lots of suspension and body work. Replacing everything that it needs Acura quoted for around 5-6k... This shell/extra engine/parts is 1500 for the car and around 500 to get it back to Iowa.

All is on track, my aunt is going out to check it in the next couple days. Unless something is really fucked on it, it's coming home to me. Or I'm coming home to it seeing as I'm in the middle east.

>>
>>16382603
you would think so, but no.
on a double wishbone honda the camber is pretty firmly limited by the linkage design and you would have to be running massive amounts, like -6 degrees or something nuts and only drive straight for a really long time to get damage like that.
worn bushings or a bent compensator arm will cause that sort of wear. it only needs to be out a fraction of an inch. again its pretty unheard of to get uneven wear from neg. camber, which you shouldnt even be running much of on the rear anyways

It must have been my bad shock mount bushings then? I changed them recently but most of the tire's life was spent on the bad ones. I do know that the suspension in these cars makes it hard to avoid camber the lower I make it so I plan on getting Ground Controls to finely adjust it to zero out the camber.

I think most if not all the bushings are all aftermarket so I'll have to inspect the ones I haven't changed too. Still trying to figure out why the front driver side is lower than the front passenger too. Front passenger also makes some banging noises while driving on bumpy concrete roads. I swear 90% of the work I've done to the car has been suspension related. lel

So since getting a little more into cars I decided to take a look at the wheels on my fit and saw pic related. The other two are fine but yeah this is obviously a problem

For the top one, unless there is some kind of special screw for tires I don't know about I'm assuming the lug nut stud needs to be replaced? any chance of the threads on wheel being damaged?

for both, should I go ahead and replace all lug nuts on the wheels or just enough to replace the 2? smallest set I can find is a set of 4

Never rotated the tires before either, should I go ahead and do that too? thanks
>>
>>16385590
See if you can put lugs by hand first to see if the threads are fine. Just get a set of 4 and have 2 for spare. Torque all of them. Tire rotation depends on thread pattern pls go google it.
>>
>>16385590
You'll need a new stud installed in the top one. Any basic shop should be able to do that. Before doing that take a good lug nut off and try it on the one missing a nut to make sure the threads are good. If it's bad you can get both taken care of in one stop at a shop.

First time for everything. We've practice around 12 hours I'd estimate and she still hasn't been out of first gear and can't figure out how to reverse out of a parking spot yet. Few times she literally does the exact opposite of what I tell her to do then she gets pissed at me because "I'm putting too much pressure on her." Really don't give a fuck anymore if she learns or not. I'll be gone soon enough kek

She's gotta think this shit through on her own. Sometimes having another person in the car when trying to learn makes it harder because your attention is split.

However 12 hours for how far she's gotten is kinda sad.

Could I get away with doing it myself? Apparently on Fits there isn't enough space to put in a new stud, you'd have to take out the hub and taking out the hub would require a new bearing which is more than I'm trying to do and apparently it's an expensive job at a shop

reading around the Fit forum you can either shave a part of the head off so it fits (don't really like this option) or bang your dust shield so there is enough space for the stud to fit. There's a ton of videos of this method on youtube too. It's all super janky, I think I might go with this method though

pic related is from the fitfreaks forum

Yeah but depending on the manager that address can be blocked from ordering again. I just cancelled the order when I got back and put the order in the cooler which is just a pile of rejected food that we donate to shelters and shit.

It rarely happens and it was a stop on the way to another delivery so I didn't really waste much time at all. Now if it was the only order in my car and it was near the end of my delivery range I'd be pretty pissed about it.
>>
>>16386972
>tfw delivering for poppa John's
We are so fucking jewishly expensive it's not funny. Our most expensive pizza costs 3 bucks to make and gets marketed for 20.
I often apply coupons and discounts in shop before going to deliver cash pizzas, hell we had some new guy who quoted 31 dollars for two medium two topping which are on deal for 8 a piece

>>
>>16387314
Our prices are pretty competitive. I think as far as prices go we're right between Domino's and Papa John's. They didn't order the cheap shit though. $27 is about right for a large stuffed crust specialty and another large normal crust specialty. I can't remember what exactly they ordered though.

Faggot asking about the 07 Accord (Euro) again.

Doing a little bit of digging around into what people do with these things, plenty of people saying to replace the K24A3 head with an A2 head instead to get any sort of extra out of it because 'fake VTEC'. Any truth to that?

Probably a bit early to be asking prior to actually owning the car, but I can't help but be curious. I probably won't touch it in the end, but it'd be nice to know in case I ever want to give it a little more balls.

When I say TSX I mean the 2006-08.

You wanna swap it with the k24a2 (specifically Acura TSX) head because:
>Increased intake flow
>>Intake valve + 1 mm oversize
>>Intake cam High lift lobe with 0.9 mm more lift and 12 degrees more duration
>>Throttle body increased from 60–64 mm
>>Radius on some intake pipes increased from 70–80 mm
>Increased exhaust flow
>>Exhaust Head pipe increased from 60–65 mm
Changing the head will let give you at least 6hp increase.

The A2 block is different because it has additional air passages in crankcase for reduced pumping loss, stronger connecting rods, new crankshaft with more counterbalance weight, revised pistons with more valve-piston clearance

You would also want to change the exhaust system to after market or factory TSX (more expensive for less gains).
Changing the exhaust with the TSX oem spec will give another 2hp.

Get the A2 head, aftermarket full exhaust , CAI and get Hondata reflash for the 07-14 TSX. You can expect ~50hp gains to make 240HP at the crank

Having owned a sedan for a decade, while I almost never use it to its potential passengerwise, it was nice to be able to do so and the trunk was stuffed at the same time. I have recently run into the limitations that a not-hatch body style imposes on utility. If I could do it over again I would have got a five door back then.
