people with dignity. this is what the CB500F looks like. who buys this? europeans.

in the US, a good looking motorcycle either looks related to a harley davidson or looks like a race bike, and nobody gives a fuck because americans will always buy sportsters, clunkers, and GSXRs before they consider nekkids.

americans are still buying 70s CBs for that price because it's in the same aesthetic category as harleys (which cost four times as much)

Facts about the US:
Almost no americans know shit about bikes
Most americans do not need to because they never ride anywhere near the limit of their bike. Chicken strips: the country.
Most americans just care about the image and "lifestyle"
americans will therefore pay a lot of money for a small amount of bike

Lets remove the "the world is running out of fossil fuel" scenario. Consider how much better +circa 2000 bike designs look compared to bike before then. In 20 or 30 years, will we feel the same way about our current gen bikes? I can't see myself disliking our current designs in 20 years the way I dislike bikes from the 80's today. Any thoughts?

even if it does we'll have bikes barring a feminized society banning danger

you can always use alcohol. you can recycle biomass into alcohols. you can use copper nanospikes to synthesize alcohols from atmospheric carbon.

the supersport of the future will run an alcohol fuel unless electric can finally beat the most advanced ICEs in power output, range, and component longetivity. lower end bikes not meant for competitition or enthusiasts will probably have electric motors though.

I'm going tomorrow to look at a Husqvarna wr300

Does anyone have any advice? It seems to be in decent condition from pictures. Anything I should look out for? I'm not experienced with these European pieces of shit.
>>
>>16345815
You probably won't find a good, working bike for under $1000 or so. You will be looking at a cost of about $2000 or more for a good bike in good condition.

Some things to consider:
>you don't need a 450 4-stroke or 250 2-stroke as a beginner dirt rider. You can get one if you really want but it will probably only make it harder for you to learn.
>MX bikes (not necessarily all dirt bikes but mainly the ones designed for motocross/supercross) have relatively short service lives, which is why they devalue so quickly and they appear the cheapest in the used market
>2 strokes don't really need much more maintenance than 4-strokes designed for the same purpose. that's mostly a myth. Also the 4-strokes are a lot more expensive to rebuild when they do get to that point.
>KDX200 is considered a good, strong, well-mannered, long-lasting trail bike

I just drained it

How long can I keep my bike without any coolant in it? Its not even ridable atm so I don't feel like filling back up with coolant if I don't have to

It's not the speed that will kill you as much as it is the shitty original tires from the 1970s, crap ass brakes that weren't enough when the bike was new, and a complete inability to corner.

Who here familiar with herky jerky throttle response?
>close throttle, bike jerks

Makes cornering a little spooky sometimes and it's noticeable all the time when engine braking, also makes shifting feel weird

Does it have to do with throttle cable tightness?

Possibly 19 years old, I should probably change it. Carb'd DS I bought with low miles.
Tension is slightly loose; manual says 1.6" of play.
Last time I adjusted it (adjuster has notches) it felt too tight on one setting, a bit too loose on the other.

I've followed the manual on maintaining it, checked how far the chain pulls off the sprocket and such (sprocket looks fine btw) but I guess it's still stretched.

>>
>>16346855
is the carb stock? pumpers are very on/off feeling on throttle and there's some slop in the transmission, its not going to roll off like a car.
and i dont recall on those but if it has a cushdrive the rubber pads might be shot
>>

I wasn't there for the pre and/or post party. I assume most of the drinking shenanigans happened then.

Beer and red bull flowed freely the whole day. So everyone was pretty chipper.

The actual event was tons of fun. Not very well organized in the sense of a well thought out schedule or run group order. For being a bike race event there was a lot of time with no bikes on track. But it was great over all. The track itself was good, good burms and it was nice and soft for when you crashed. Very hipster as you could imagine, most bikes there were ill suited street bikes, which honestly made the event a lot better. The harley and big cruiser guys left pretty early, they realized they were slow AF and probably scared to drop their bikes. Everyone else was wrecking and crashing every lap. The sub 125 and 125+ (all groms desu) classes had the most entrants and looked like the most fun.

Lots of hipsters, lots of normal people. No weirdos. Good food Awesome bands. Fun event, will go to again.10/10

Where are the best places on a bike to hide naughty substances?
The most likely spot I'm thinking of at the moment is slipped in next to the battery. On my bike and many others the battery is housed underneath a small storage tray that requires a screwdriver to remove. I had thought of using a plastic tube in the petrol tank a la Easy Rider but that seems like too much fucking around, I'm scared I'd lose the tube in the tank or not seal it properly and have petrol ingress. Also I'm not expecting dogs so sealing the scent isn't of concern. Another possibility is duct-taped behind a side panel.
Awhile ago I was looking to purchase a lithium battery. The battery had the same length and width as the original but was only about two thirds as high, to ensure a good fit the manufacturer supplied spacers which would've made an ideal dead-space underneath the battery for transport of such items. Sadly my alternator charges at a higher rate than the lithium item can handle so I had to purchase a regular sized battery, but it's definitely something I'll look at in the future.
Does anyone have experience in this matter? Any ideas?
