I brought it to a guy to ask about a wire that I had thought was an original piece but turned out to be aftermarket. Apparently when capping the wire he crossed some other wires, and when coming home from work the battery lead wires, the voltage regulator/dissipator and an engine sensor caught fire. I posted a pic a while ago, but after taking a closer look I realized this was out of my league and took it to another guy.

It's not like they make a track for Speed Week and then just pack up and leave, there are lots of events running almost every week so they are either running or testing nonstop til it rains or gets too windy, plus it's a lot of work to keep it prepped, I don't think it's preserved and just sitting there ever if that's what you are wondering. Just enter an event in one of the motorcycle only events, would be a better experience anyway to be with other people pushing their top speed under controlled conditions. If you just want to go flat out somewhere empty go to Hwy 50 in central Nevada, nobody out there and it's a good condition, dead straight road for many miles, I've had it at 135mph cruise control for an hour out there on a weekday morning.

Passed my state inspection and paid for my registration for next year. Almost got run over by an oilfield truck waiting in line at the inspection place.

Pulled up behind a worktruck waiting for his turn, suddenly starts backing up even though he had no apparent need to. Was waving my hand like an idiot, shouting through my helmet as I tried to find my horn. After a few agonizing seconds of this he finally got the message. Very apologetic and very flustered, let me go a head of him. Shook his hand and told him everything was alright, as much my fault as his.

In retrospect:
Proper positioning behind him meant fuckall when his mirrors and rear windshield had enough mud on them that, combined with the sun being right behind us, resulted in me being invisible.

I should have left more space between us.

Having the bike in neutral wasn't good.

I stop over to the edge of my lane so people can see me in their side mirrors and I can just move over between lanes if need be. In drive thrus and shit I usually put it in neutral and shut off the bike so it doesn't overheat.
