I doubt hooking it up to the bike will make much of a difference to the light output. There's a small voltage difference (13 or so volts vs 11 or so) but these aren't high current wires so just shoving the frayed ends onto the battery terminal doesn't seem to be a limiting factor. I've been using this type of connecter all over my bike for all but my headlight and horn.

I think it's vinyl similar to the stock seat. My roommate had the gripper top/weave sides. Seemed a lot better for offroading but annoying on a travelling bike. I move around on the seat a lot to stay comfy.

To make a dirt bike truly street worthy costs a couple hundred dollars at least. You need a good headlight and tail light, turn signals, handlebar switches, ignition key switch, connectors, wires, horn, relays, etc. It's a pain in the ass as well.

Also a dirt bike with a license plate is NOT the same as a dual sport.

took a day to set it all up since i did a full rewire at the same time. otherwise its a couple hours to stick a kit on and go get inspected.

Most states you just need headlight with high and low beam, brake and tail light, horn and at least one mirror. It can be done really cheap if you don't mind chinese ebay special parts.

Add wire to high beam location on the plug of the WR450, look at that high and low beam when you wire the switch in.

WR LED tail light, add a wire into the brake light spot on the STOCK tail light, look at that, a brake light.

You'll only spend a couple of hundred if you're a dumb ass nigger.

nekkids are the fad right now because they don't confer the same image/aura as sportbikes, but not having any fairings genuinely sucks for long trips

on the other hand, having fairings sucks if you ride hard on the street chasing nonexistent strips and crash at least once a year
>>
I'm genuinely surprised at how often people say to clean/lube their chains. I swiftly spray/brush my chain down at most a couple times a year with several thousand miles in between. My chains still last forever and I've never had issues with links seizing or any other issues. With some people saying to clean/lube every 200 miles or similar you probably spend more on solvents and lube than I do on chains.
>>

>Nekkids are the fad right now because everyone got told off for liking cafe racers

>>16336333

I was doing some research on the FZ-09 and it seems the 2017 fixed the front forks issue, theyre now fully adjustable. I didnt see a price but I hope it isnt too much higher than 2016 because the price is what made it stand out.

>>16336356
When I ride in the mud the outside of the links where no contact occurs I can get a bit of mud buildup or rust but I don't see any problem with that. The moving parts are sealed with orings and the outside of the rollers gets cleaned off as it passes over the sprocket so I don't really see the point in spending 20 minutes a week cleaning it.
>>
>>16336364
relatively low. I don't think many people are stupid enough to blatantly list a hot bike on craigslist. Price seems about right for a ninjette missing fairings.

I used to ride from Philly to Rochester, NY and back every two weeks. One week I took my fairingless ninja 250, another week I took a BMW K75c. I did not notice a difference in upper body/head/neck fatigue or the wind being less annoying on my extremities.

Yeah, no wonder you didn't notice. A sportbike fairing has a windshield that actually does shit (you tuck behind it) and side cowls that deflect wind around your legs and feet.

Sport touring fairings are the same thing but fatter

I don't wanna fuck anything up. Also should probably go to the store and get new fluids first.

I've been thinking about just starting the tear down right now and pulling the engine regardless of whether it works or not.

That's a bad idea though, I should just get it running and let it be beat until I have the 701 to ride.

I should really just go fix the carb in my Ninja and sell that.

are you actually talking about a real race spec seamless gearbox? like, you know what that is? all its good for is for keeping the power on the ground during shifts by engaging both gears at once for a sec.
did you mean a quickshifter that rev matches? that is more than enough. seamless gearboxes are never gonna be in any road bike other than those gp replicas that they make like 500 of. for example the the desmosedici rr (didnt check if this has seamless box) or the honduh one (90 hp lol).

seamless motoGP box wasn't invented by the time the D16RR came out and they didn't put it on the RC-213V-S (which has 200 hp+ in track trim anyway, seriously who is gonna ride that on the road? I wouldn't). KTM are making one with 240 hp for 120,000 pounds though so enjoy that instead.

Also: seamless might shift up in 8 ms vs 50 ms of a normal box + QS but it's main advantage is it's much more stable on downshifts and keeps the bike more in line under braking.

>>16336641
Quickshifters with autoblippers are exactly what you're talking about anyway seamless is the same only faster and a touch smoother.

I need some first bike advice. I've just inherited a 2015 Triump Tiger 1050 Sport. 25k km, mint condiition, dealer maintained, full arrow exhaust. If I were to sell it I'd get around €10.000 for it.

Should I and get something else? Always figured that my first bike would be something reasonably cheap, that when I drop it doesn't put me in the poorhouse. Nor a 1,160cc inline triple that does 0-100 in 3.3 seconds.

What would you lot do in my situation?

Not very mechanically confident, from NZ where it's summer.

I went for a group ride with my CBR250R the other day, after about 20 minutes of riding on the motorway we turned off and got stuck in slow moving traffic. The temperature was 30C at most, and while we were sitting in traffic I noticed that the bike was bleeding green liquid and steaming a fair bit. I didn't want to pull over and loe my mates so I kept going and by the time we'd reached our destination about 50 minutes later it had stopped dripping.

The bike ran fine on the way back, though I did notice a small amount of fresh green drips when I was home. The next morning there was only a very small amount of fluid under the bike and when I checked the coolant level there was still a tiny bit left.

I took the fairings off today and cleaned all the dried liquid. I had places to be and the motorbike shop doesn't open until tomorrow so I topped up the coolant tank and the radiator with water - once I filled it up I ran the bike and tried to see if I could find a leak, but after a few drips that seemed to come straight out of the radiator it stopped dripping and the liquid level was the same after I returned from my trip.

>How bad did I fuck up?

>What can I do if this happens again while on the road?

Thanks

that liquid was your coolant, it's a mix of anti freeze and water. if you rode such a long time completely without any or very little coolant (as it some when stopped dripping) can result in very severe engine damage. When you'll check your coolant reservoir, it will most definitely be completely empty

God damn it m80 I wrote you a super long post and chrome crashed fml.

It could have been that your cooland reservoir was filled beyond it's indicated limit, in which case the exceeding coolant simply drips out through an overflow hose (usually under the bike).

Here's one thing you can do: Fill the bike with coolant to the indicated level (coolant is better than water as it's easier to spot) if you don't have coolant, water will do anyhow. Turn the bike on and let it idle until hot, this can take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes depending on how hot it is.

Does the fan turn on? If it doesn't, that could be the problem. If the fan does turn on and coolant leaks, where does it leak from? The important thing is to try to see where it's coming from. If it comes from under the bike, let it leak a bit. If it leaks a few drops and stops, it's okay. If the entire content of the coolant reservoir starts leaking out, something's off.

If it does leak from somewhere that is not an overflow hose (ie, leaks from the radiator) you got a leak somewhere, which is what I suspect you have. See if you figure out where it's leaking from.

The key thing for you to keep an eye on is the engine temp gauge. Even if you have a leak, you can just keep refilling the thing indefinitely and living with it. Not that I recommend it, but it can be done.

If you said the temp needle never went above halfway into "HOT" I wouldn't lose any sleep over it anon. The bike is fine. I've gone waaay further and gotten away with it.

As a final note, leaking coolant almost always makes it's way to your rear wheel. If your bike is leaking, expect reduced rear grip.

saved my fairings, got away with rearset and bar end damage only after a wet lowside at the track.

Some people think they're good other people think they're shit and cause more problems than they solve.

I don't fucking know to be honest with you.

IXIL Hyperlow is pretty much identical, except it has slash-cut tips instead.

Possibly, I have one on my bike but the tips sit a little futher from the peg. It looks like they'd probably be fine on the Hornet though, provided the keep most of their foot forward on the peg.

It's one of the few road bikes that is somewhat light and suitable for longer persons...

Not >>16337493 but I've heard nothing but praise about them, and the ergos seem pretty good for the taller rider, many people I've seen riding them tend to be fairly tall.

I really like how it looks and sounds, granted my bike is a parallel twin, but without the baffles (which is how I always run it) it sounds great. My only complaint is that the baffles look a bit crappy if you intend on having them in.

People really like how it looks too, it always gets compliments.

I actually quite like how that looks, maybe it's just me but it reminds me somewhat of the HP2 Spot (minus the boxer twin obviously).

The F800 is a bit fugly, especially the new one but I've heard the engine is pretty good.

noice, a mate of mine recently put a MIVV black steel on his CB500X, and it looks and sounds great, that's what prompted me to think about getting one, too. but I don't really like the looks of all those fat, actual cans
>>
>>16337876

To be fair it quite suits the 500X there, though I think your Hornet needs something a bit sleeker. Either a smaller Akra would probably look okay, or the MIVV/IXIL. Honestly I'd just go for whichever you like the look of.

so, whats the best aftermarket exhaust for the new sv? I scuffed the stock one so I have en excuse to get something new.

>>
>>16337892

To be honest, provided you're just going for a slip on, I'd just go for whichever you like the look of most, because they'll all sound a lot better than stock. Or are you after a full system?
>>
>>16336404
It's teh "streetfighter" look
>>
>>16337901

>>16337902

>>
Goys, should I turbo my FRS or get into bikes? A decent kit with supporting mods would be the same or a little more than a bike and gear.
>>
>>16337912

Then just get whichever you like the look of best, they all sound fairly similar.

>>16337918

Maybe learn to ride first and see how you feel, rather than buying a bike before you know you like it for sure. Are there any riding schools near you?

yeah, I think it looks perfect on the 500, the stock can looked like a fucking cancerous ulcer, and the bike was virtually silent

unfortunately, I don't have the Hornet yet, but I'll buy one in the very near future, and the first thing I'll do is change the stock exhaust. Maybe I'll find a good deal on something until then. I also dig the look of the ghibli exhaust, although it looks rather heavy
>>
>>16337918
depends on what you are after.
Of course we'll always recommend a bike because it's our passion but it is not for everyone.

If you are in the US, just take the MSF before you buy anything to see whether you actually like it.
>>
>>16337929

It probably isn't that heavy at all, no heavier than stock any way. You'd be amazed at how heavy factory systems are, the IXIL is by no means light being made of steel, but it was a hell of a lot lighter than the factory 500R exhaust, and yeah exhaust was the first thing I changed too because my bike sounded like a sewing machine. To be fair the newer bikes have a different exhaust which looks and sounds a bit better.
>>
>>16337615
You need a new, possibly higher-pressure radiator cap.
>>
>>16337925
The Harley shop has a course for 300 that's a couple weekends. My friend did it and liked it. I'll probably do that and make my decision.
