/dbt/ I just had a close call. I have a 2016 Yamaha xtz 125E, which is a off road looking street bike. I've bought it to built credit. This is the only reason, so please spare me from too much criticism.

At first it was a blast, the it became real dull really fast because, well, it's a 10hp bike which tops at 100km/h, taking up to 30 seconds to reach it. When I learn to rev match it became a blast again. It's been 5 months now. I'm trying new stuff, and the most fun stuff is leaning. I know you're not suppose to lean the same way as a sport bike, but I thought "since I'm a beginner and a real chicken, I don't think I'll reach the bike or the tires limit any soon".

This whole tale was to you tell this: I've just washed the bike. Using water, neutral soap and some multi surface cleaning for the plastic bits and mirror. I've used soap on the tires too. After that, I went for a ride. Today is Sunday, so there isn't much cars on the streets. There's these two corners that I specially like. One is about 150 meters that I can take at about 60 to 70 km/h, maybe more if I weren't being safe about the possibility of cars ahead. The other is a 90 degree, which I can take at about 50 to 60 km/h. Both are inclined upwards, with the second being a little more drastic. On the second one, at about 55km/h, my front tire slipped. I've training my reflexes to not roll off the throttle when losing control, so I took back control on the bike after sliding.

What do you think could've caused this? I went back to inspect the asphalt and there isn't any oil spots, although there's some bits where it's a little darker then the others. Pic related is my tire, only 5400 km.

I honestly have no idea how that works here in germany, I think the bike only needs lights, (+indicators and brake lights), mirrors, and needs to meet emissions testing, and a friend told me there were kits to make motocross bikes legal, but I have no idea really

Enough power in reserve to get out of a hairy situation. The ninja 250 just doesn't have it. That doesn't mean it's a bad bike but if you want to have a small bike and still be genuinely safe on the highway get a 300. It has just enough extra power to be a capable highway bike.
>>
>>16340164
Yeah that's fair, the ninja 250 doesn't have any oomf or pull past 80, the top speed is there, but the power is not.

>>
>>16340164
On a highway, you're doing 100 kph, 120 tops. Acceleration at 120 really slows down, but you've still got an extra 20 kph to play around with. "enough power to get out of a hairy situation" is pretty vague wording.

The only reason not to have a 250 on a highway is vibrations. And that's just a comfort issue and can mostly be fixed with thicker gloves and properly pumped tires.

Guzzis are excellent police bikes because reliable and torquey, not some "falling down mountains" boolshite. Dry clutch is nice in traffic and that large starter motor works very well.

They even replaced CHP Harleys for some years until they were replaced by even better Kawasaki KZ police editions.

I don't care for Italian motorcycle "engineering" but I make an exception for the large Guzzis. Nice ride, GuzziAnon!

I've got the signals working and the brake levers are fine, but the crack isn't too major. I'm fine with reupholstering it and replacing the brake lens. But I don't even have a hammer to pop the tank out.

I feel kinda trapped because I'm gonna get fuck all for the bike, and most of the bikes I want are pretty expensive for me right now. I'd expect $1k max in the current condition, but if I could fix the rest of the damage, I'd be able to advertise it at $2k and haggle in the spring.

My price range with selling the bike should be about 1-3k before spring. I definitely want to get a standard or sport-standard. Though I do also like the idea of off roading as well. But I don't know if I like it enough to buy a bike.
I've got a plan to go off roading with a buddy's DR this summer and I'll know for sure whether I'll have two bikes and a winter beater after college.

I'm really looking at a cb600f, but they're almost always really far away, or above 4 grand. Bandits, Katanas are definitely on the table as well. Don't want to do a Ninja 500/600, because I've already done a Ninja.
I would a 650 as well, since insurance only goes by size and value. So if I get a bike that isn't worth money, and is 600ccs, I'd be totally happy. And that's why I'm looking at Katanas and Hornets and Bandits.

Srsly a clean DR-Z frame is like $150. If you're spending $3k+ on a full rebuild why not just spare a little more for a clean frame? Anyone with motorcycle experience knows all modern bikes have the VIN engraved in the frame instead of on a plate stuck to the frame. You would be fucked if a cop realized that or if the niggers did and just broke off the fake VIN plate.

How many times does he have to tell you the VIN is clean? Not stolen? It's OK?
>>
>>16341672
You are uninformed.

When my bike was totaled two years ago I went looking for a new frame. A clean street legal frame is over $1000. A dirt bike frame with no title is $200, which is what I bought.

I removed the VIN plate from the new frame, sanded the VIN underneath it off, powder coated it, stamped my old VIN in place and then put my VIN plate over it. The plate is my original VIN plate, the VIN stamped into the frame underneath it is my original VIN, all DRZ frames have a VIN plate in that spot.

Yeah, tires are on the list.

not really, i just need to figure out a good airdam for the front of the tank. if you get buffeting on yours try covering the gaps between the bars and front of the tank.
only other stuff i have planned now is a respring and to swap the top case for a luggage plate which i have sitting here already.
as for tires get an aggressive front first if its a money thing. the bike is a ton of fun to run down dirt roads with the back tire sliding around, its pretty forgiving if you get a little too giddy on the gas too

If it's snowing, but you actually mean on plowed roads you'll be fine. Unless plowed means a 1/4" of hard packed snow that's practically ice, in which case you need studs/ice spikes or yeah u gunna die.

Used to be good, just sells cuckold trash in addition to releasing the same sportbikes year after year. Has a tendency to terminate or ruin their good bikes, because they only make a quality bike to sell it at a loss for a couple of years and improve their image after a decade or so of stagnation and bad products. I'm betting on the fireblade becoming fucking amazing in the future just so they can cut the product five years later and replace it and the VFR1200 with a DCT-equipped sports tourer.
