What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Suzuki learn to ride program, and I’ve been involved in numerous sumo sundays, and I have over 300 confirmed dank wheelies. I am trained in hooliganism and I’m the top squid in the entire /dbt/ community. You are nothing to me but just another yamaha shill. I will beat your WR450 with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of drzposters across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call /dbt/. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can outpost you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my shitty laptop. Not only am I extensively trained in google image searches, but I have access to the entire library of the United States DRZ400 pictures and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable thread off the face of /o/, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit DRZs all over your thread and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

How long do you guys think I should wait before buying a new bike?

I've had my SV650S (first bike) for a few months and while it's a great bike, I think I want something with a more upright seating position and some more headroom for commuting and riding long distances.

Right now I really want an XSR 900 because it can be a much more relaxing ride but can kick mad ass if I want it to. What do you guys think?

if you have even decent technique, you should be fine on the triple. ive ridden the fz09 and it's a beast, but can be ridden safely by a noob if they have control. not sure if the xsr is tuned differently or has the riding modes like the fz, but if it does, you can put it in rain mode and get comfortable that way.
that said, how are your skills?

I can handle the SV pretty well in the mountain roads, though I'm hesitant to lean too far right now. Other than that I've never had anything serious come up due to lack of skill. I've gotten used to being smooth in all my inputs and rarely really get on the power of my bike.

That said, maybe >>16269414 is right and I should give it more time and get more experience. Realistically I probably couldn't afford a new bike for at least another year so I guess I've already answered my question.

How do I get fast? I've been riding for a good 18months and still struggle sometimes. The other week I was at a meet and constantly screwed up corners, one nearly resulting in a crash. I often feel unsteady in the corners and this results in me either overthinking for a sec and braking too hard before it or leaning too far and taking a dumb line far too close to the inside of the road
>>
Hey guys. I'm planning on getting my first bike soon and its probably going to be a used Ninja 250. What do you guys think is an appropriate price to pay for one from 2012 with a couple thousand miles on it? Most of them in my area are around $3000-$4000. I know price varies on a lot of factors but is there a general number I should have in mind?
>>
>>16269428
Take a track day with an instructor
>>
>>16269433
First off, I really don't recommend getting a 250. Apart from 50cc dirtbikes as a kid I had no riding experience and hopped on a SV650 without any issue. You WILL grow out of a 250 astonishingly quick.

Plus SV650's are usually a little older and aren't put through the "first bike" cycle as fast so they'll be a little cheaper and better kept overall.
>>
>>16269437
Good idea, but my local track has only 1 day every few months for bikes and the surface is utter trash. It's not worth the high prices they charge.

Be that as it may, if you're dead-set on a 250, I would pay no more than $2500 for an immaculate one. I see quite a few CBR250's and Ninjas for around $3000 on my local CL so you could probably find a deal if you're patient enough.

Okay, that's my personal experience and how I feel, but fine.

How about you make a case in favor of 250's? I don't know why they would be any better honestly.
>>
>>16269465
The two major arguments against 250s are "growing out" of them and "discomfort"

Stay at or under the speed limit and neither will ever be an issue unless you live in germany or certain parts of texas

250 is always enough. Everything else is a penis compensator on two wheels.

That arguement applies to anything. I'm just making a case for the 250s by using an uncucked 250 that makes more than 250 hp

It's also somewhat fun riding a bike that has the looks and sounds of a sports bike just missing a bit of power. I'll still do 0-100 in 4.5 it just doesn't go much further than that

Hey dbt, what's the proper way to charge my batteries over the winter? Right now I'm just hooking each one up to the battery tender for a few hours until it's charged and in trickle/maintenance mode (solid green) and the disconnecting. Will that suffice?

If they're old batteries, they will still lose charge just sitting there all winter. Usually the trickle/maintenance mode is intended to keep them charged & healthy while you're not riding for extended periods. Maybe you can connect both batteries to the charger in parallel?

Well, the GSXR 600 is a purpose built race bike so it's extremely different from a 650 which is some frankenstein naked/standard bike made for a completely different reason. Just look at the rear wheel torque and horsepower specs and you'll get an idea of how powerful it is.

You probably don't want anything a lot higher than 90~ horsepower at the rear wheel with about 40 lb/ft of torque. If you really want a 600, get an older 01-03 GSXR. Don't waste your money on a newer generation. There is literally no difference. It's not like the laws of gyroscopic effect or the geometry changes between the years. It's the same exact bike minus some cooler looking plastics and meme electronics

Do I risk setting the bike on fire if I spill some gas on the engine while refueling? I was paranoid but the guy that works at the station said it won't ignite. Isn't the ignition point of gas like 60 something degrees?
>>
>>16270975
yes
>>
>>16270975
I've spilled gas on scorching exhaust headers before and it didn't ignite. I think it would take more than just heat to start a flame. Make sure you don't accidentally compress the gas with 13 times as much air and light a fire with it.

There's nothing in that picture that shows where the fuel is injected, but if KTM is doing this for emissions reasons it's probably direct injection.

Have fun when that EFI system fails anyways. At least you contributed slightly less to the total desertification of africa compared to someone with a carbed dirtbike.

Have you ever wondered what the car equivalent of your motorcycle would be, /dbt/?

I have a VFR750F, pre-facelift RC36. It's a sport touring bike with a V4 engine and a six speed trans. It's a little less performance focused than the post facelift, but very rider focused for long distance riding.

My guess is some sort of 2+2 GT vehicle. Maybe some variation of a supra or Nissan Z3x car?

I submitted my post too early. I have a CBR900RR too, I don't ride it too much because it hurts my back after a while. Pretty sure it's a 95.

The Fireblade did start life as a 750cc concept, and was stroked to 900cc for production, iirc. It's car equivalent would have to be something stupid fast, uncomfortable, and street legal. it must be fairly good at cornering too.

Some kind of base model sports car. Maybe?

just get the r1

you'll save so much money, even with service costs, parts and shit. You won't ever tap into the extra power/performance you get with the s1000rr so why pay for it
>>
>>16272453
R1 then. S1000RR is much more comfy but way more expensive. You need to ride enough to justify the extra cost.

Hi dbt!
Im fairly new to riding but just got a kawasaki ninja 650r and have a question

Is the riding height ok for a 5'11 guy?
We got the bike lowered so i had it raised but im not sure if maybe he did it a bit too much. Both my feet can touch the ground but just barely and i cant really put my weight on the floor without tiptoeing, is this normal? Much thanks
>>
How long could you ride a your bike for until you got tired/bored or just sick off it? This mostly goes to sportbike owners as I wanna know if it's possible to ride 12-24 hours with breaks for eating and toilet only. Also, what is a good camera to use on the helmet? Preferably a bit more aerodynamic than the GoPro's.
>>
>>16272873
It's not optimal, but it's ok.
>>
>>16272873
thats normal but you should set the sag correctly
>>
>>16272883
Whats considered optimal?
Also how much does weight play a factor , im 190 pbs right now but trying to get to 170 by january

Atleast it looks good, right...?
>>
>>16272888
Weight shouldn't matter unless you are real merica, which you aren't, don't worry. Optimal would be if your feet could touch the ground without issues, as it may get annoying when you have to stop for lights, traffic, etc. You should be fine though. Congrats on the bike, ride safe, wave to other bikes, and have fun
>>
>>16272896
Thanks!
But should i really be able to put all my weight on both legs to the ground.
I say its about 70% as it is

I'm trying to find a youtuber, I've watched his video's a few years ago and just can't get it out of my head, and can't find him.

If I remember vaguely, his channel was something like m83x, (there were numbers in the name) practically a dirt bike rider in somewhere asia riding through town, of course a white guy.

(it's not m13, I've checked that, while searching I did find ADVChina to be interesting for some reason)

Congrats mate, not everyone has the same gifts. Also, many people can't afford a degree right out of high school, so they choose service in the military instead.
Some mos/rates will make you more money post military than I bet you're making with your superior intellect, so there's that too.

Depends...If I'm riding dirt all day, exhaustion comes before boredom
On the highway the opposite is usually true.
Also rain, cold weather, etc can make things worse
My longest day on my dual sport was 330 miles...mostly paved roads through mountains/farms. Took me about 8 hours

On my longest trip on a sportbike I would do a maximum of 400 to 450 miles before really succumbing to fatigue. On long trips you can be limited by how much daylight you have, avoid riding at night if you can during long hauls.
