Is a Suzuki GSX-250F (Across) capable on the track? I sorta want a CBR250RR, but I'll mainly be commuting and the Across seems more comfy and practical (luggage compartment), so I'm just wondering if it'll still be fun on track days with my other friends on their 250s. Also, it's a fuckton cheaper.

Suzuki GSR600: 98hp/212kg=0,46

Yamaha FZ6: 98hp/216kg=0,45

Honda Hornet: 97hp/203kg=0,47

Kawasaki Z750: 110hp/219kg=0,51

And if you look at the torque numbers, the picture becomes clearer too

as a reference, the almighty SV 650 has a ratio of 72hp/190kg=0;37

im not saying the kawasaki is the best bike, but it has a pretty good power to weight ratio

well you're comparing the wheel hp of some to to the crank power of the others. (Z750 is around 90-95 hp atw, the SV650 is 72 atw first of all) and I mean you have to compare it to a class below it in order to make it competitive.

Against the gsx-s750 (another utterly boring bike), MT-09 etc it doesn't stick out in any way.

Then you have that whole literbike sport naked thing which happened and most sport nakeds are just much faster than it.

I'm not saying it's slow but the phrase "far better power to weight ratio than most sport nakeds" is laughable in the same way it would be if I said it of the Z1000 which makes far less than it's immediate competition.
>>
>>16207655
Keep rocks and dirt coming from other people's bikes from hitting you in the face, also can block sunlight
>>
>>16207674
The z750 was specially designed to compete with the 600 Superbike engined standard models, and at that, it was pretty good. Also, I pulled the numbers all from the same website which. I should have probably said "better power to weight ratio than the bikes it was targeting at the time"
>>
>>16207651
do you realise that you're comparing a 750 to a pack of 600s?

I need to buy some shit for my bike and I need your opinion on some things.

This is what I need to buy:

- alarm disk lock with cable
- flat tire kit
- usb charger
- tank pad
- windshield
- spider and small magnetic bag
- phone mount
- frame sliders

So, first question, what are the best windshields for the second gen SV 650?
Can't find a waterproof phone mount that lets me charge it as well that isn't an iPhone mount, anyone knows about one?
What do I need to use the usb charger, just the cables with the usb output or also a fuse to prevent damage?
What kind of flat tire kit should I look at?
What's a good, cheap, small magnetic bag (for something like a book and a couple of beers)?

>>
>>16208382
idk about in your shitty europoor town but in America roads are very wide, having a single light off to the side would mean people in the left lane would be looking to the far right to see when the light is green, people in the left turn lane would likely be blocked from seeing the signal at all.

Hey guys, some might remember me from like a month ago, someone gifted me his scooter. My father and his friend (that works in a repair workshop (for cars usually) tried to look into it since it stood around for like a year.

We've exchanged the oil/battery, the spark plug fires, lights work, carb is cleaned. But whenever we tried to start it it would just go off again. Tried manually etc too.

Anything we might have overlooked? Sorry for the noob question, i'm just clueless when it comes to baikus and cars.

I just recently had a mechanic come look at my bike, change the oil, clean the carbs etc. The thing has had severe performance issues for about a month and has shit acceleration, as well as not being able to accelerate past about 50mph when it originally topped out at about 110. He claimed the issue was with the regulator/rectifier and replacing it along with the battery would fix the performance issues. I just bought a brand new battery and charged it up. The bike starts up fine but still has the same performance issues.

It can't possibly be the regulator causing this right? As far as I know that should only effect the battery's charge correct?

Should I apply for a motorcycle apprenticeship? (uk)

It's via college. I don't want to be a mechanic but it'll pay me while giving me job experience. I do want to own a motorcycle but if I do take the apprenticeship I'll work 4 days a week.

It's the best option I got. I should have taken the electrical installation course but oh well.

I heard the pay as a mechanic is bad. I know I'm not gonna be well off or comfortable on the wage but I live with my parents and it's better than no wage amirite?

Just worried it will be stressful. I'll save like 90% of it and put the 10% to my first motorcycle.

At the very least I'll be making 400 pounds a month on the apprenticeship wage.

Anyone been/are a mechanic? I'll say again. I don't intend for a career. I want to be a jack of all trades type a guy. So I don't have to pay a mechanic to do my vehicle in the future

High paid trade skills are electrician, extremely heavy vehicle maintainence (think big fucking earth movers and haulers)

HVAC, Elevator/Escalator, Welding (bonus for SCUBA welder) Power Plant mechanic.

Lots of these jobs may have you working IN a factory, but you are not a factory worker.

Plumping, Septic cleaner are pretty good

OHYEA if you went to school to be a fucking mechanic, have you thought of Aviation? Get your airframe and powerplant and apprentice somewhere and start making 70k a year to start. Thats what I did before I became a pilot.

The electric motors are a great improvement, but I hate the shit, that comes with it, from anti wheely to tracking control and all that bullshit. I wait 'til everybody has to have a sat tracker installed, so they can check every move, every little speed overstep, every shortcut you take, because your not some easy to controll car driver but a freedom loving biker. This hasn't much to do with electric engine improvents, but it will come to reality hand in hand with it.

Nice mahi! My friend has a citation for one in NC, it was like 57 pounds.
You ever fish over on this side of the country? Some nice billfish in the summer.
Also, get a bike soon

>I love my carburettor and wouldn't want to trade it in for anything.
>t I hate the shit, that comes with it, from anti wheely to tracking control and all that bullshit

It's another "/dbt/ thinks they're above traction control because they don't have traction problems on their 30 hp shitbike and overestimate their riding ability" episode.

For the charger: get a fuse and build it in between the battery and the charger on the plus cable. A fuse is cheap and can save you a lot of trouble, when you choose to buy a cheap charger. Also consider wiring it to a plus cable, which is only on, when ignition is on, for ex. the horn. A colleage of mine got his battery drained, because some shithead kids used his usb charger on his bike to charge their mobiles

>laggy throttle response
>fuel pump and injector issues mean you'll be throwing parts at it and replacing rather than fixing
>need a dyno tune when doing major modifications instead of just using a screwdriver/knob on carb to tune

maybe they're purists who want simplicity?

What's so hard to believe?

I know KTMs have stalling issues due to bad fuel pumps often (sometimes its a wonky/clogged injector) for one.

You can get bad/clogged injectors on any bike. If it stutters or runs like crap it can be anything from a bad throttle position sensor (TPS) or clogged/bad idle air control valves. The point is you're introducing more variables and opportunities for something to go wrong.

You're the one I'm wondering if they're serious. Do you think FI is magically problem free on a 10 year old motorcycle? I'd rather have FI on anything more than two cylinders, but a carb is nice too for its simplicity.

What goes wrong on a carb? If it gets clogged you spray it with brake cleaner, if it leaks you replace a seal, if its not running right you play with the fuel screw or change a jet. The worst part about them is synching them

Wouldn't that value be the same for every bike, and just be a straight line with a slope 1/5252

Nah, wheeled into a carkpark nearby that had cameras and was out of sight a bit.
Alternator is fucked.
