Yeah man, I ran into the same dilemma when considering buying one. In terms of performance, they are no different from a GSXR 1000. Really the only advantage is the Busa might have 10mph~ more top end and will feel more stable. It's probably more comfortable. You also don't have the bragging rights of most powerful production motorcycle engine as Kawasaki has seized that with the inception of the ZX14 engine.

With that said, it's still a very iconic and historic motorcycle and I would definitely pick one up if I found one for a good price. It's a Hayabusa for fucks sake, you can't go wrong. It'll do about 150-160 to the wheel stock with close to 100 ft/lb of torque so it's still ridiculously fast, but yes, most liter bikes today, especially with the amount of development that has gone into making the liter bike engine as efficient and powerful as possible, are very comparable in speed to the busa.

Almost crashed on friday.

Idiot on a z4 suddenly decides to cross an intersection and got into ny lane coming from my right. Tried to avoid him going left and the fucktard corrected trajectory to go onto next lane.

Suddenly braking while angled, front wheel locks, countersteer, rear wheel locks, stabilize with left foot, pass him by the right.

Ducati monsters are posh wannabe bikes, but handling is flawless.

Pic related my exhausts.

Alright guys, time for an update on that sketchy Craigslist GSXR I bought. I cleaned off the chain and noticed that a lot of the links are binding together. They don't appear to be moving very freely so the links aren't perfectly even when the chain is moving across the sprockets. I lubed it up good and gonna let it saturate over night but does anyone know if this is something that can be fixed or are the seals pretty much guaranteed fucked and I should replace it?

The chain looks brand new once I cleaned it up but these Gold DID chains tend to clean up well so it can be deceiving.

>>
>>16126260
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If Its just a bike to learn on and beat up then what's the point in dropping 4k on a used ninja 300?

As much as I want the 50cc I dont see an exta 2.5k justified by it.
>>
>>16126251
50cc is not a very big difference in engine displacement, its not worth it IMO.

You'll get a few more mph at the top end, who cares.

Just get a Ninja 250. There is no point getting hung on something as trivial as 50cc. Beginners get sucked into this maze of comparing the ninja 250, ninja 300, R3, RC390, and all these various meme bikes that are completely annihilated by some shitty $1200 stunt F4i you can find on craigslist.
>>
>>16126251
Buy a quality used bike instead of new so you can afford much more value for the same money and not feel as bad when you drop it or whatever, and unless it's going to be a dedicated commuter queen get something a little bigger so you don't "grow out of it" right away and regret the purchase. I'd look at 500-800cc, avoiding the 600cc tier of supersports.
>>
>>16126284
Kek. Tough luck, I rode 200km back home with 14 yo tires but I was retarded.

>>
>>16126305

yes and no. A ninja 250 can go ~120 mph. A Harley with a 1200 CC can go ~100.

It all depends on the bike, but when it comes to sporty bikes the bigger the CC the harder they are to ride.

The big diff between a 'busa and the GSXR1K is the Busa's massive torque and broad powerband, gives you a god-like feeling. Also has aerodynamics and stability that makes 200MPH seem like a sensible speed.

I'm 18, 19 in late July and from the UK. I have my cbt booked for 21st of November, so I figured I could do that, buy an A1 bike like a YBR125 to learn on, whilst also taking motorcycle lessons to get better, and then when I turn 19 immediately do my A2 exam (without bothering to do the A1 exam) so I can sell the YBR and buy an A2 bike like the GS500. Would that be financially feasible? I am considering simply waiting until I turn 19 and not bothering with all that, but it would be good to have the transport available now and also give me some time to learn the ropes on a slowbike before moving onto something bigger. What's the resell value like on a YBR125?

Lots of instant torque, but low redline

More displacement = more torque.
A VFR800 with 772cc will have a much smooth power band than a CBR600RR. The RR will be twitchy and requires a delicate touch when in the powerband in lean but if you stay under 7-8000rpm it is pretty tame actually while the VFR is always tame because it is designed to be a gentle commuter unless you light a fire under it's ass.

I rode the Zero lineup at a local demo ride. It's really fucking weird to just twist and go, the Zero bikes have different ride modes that can make the bike really weak, or pull like hell. I really like how stable the bikes are, and how compact they feel, but there is no way that I could shell out that much money for a bike that I could only use for commuting.

I took the forks off my F4i and the top and bottom triple clamps won't turn independently. None of my other bikes have been like this. Is the F4i supposed to be this way or is something messed up? I took the top nut off the steering stem and nothing changed or got looser. Is it corrosion holding it together or something else? I noticed there is some sort of lock nut on the bottom side of the top triple clamp but I'm not sure what it's holding.

I cars for longer road trips so something for commuting/runabout is what I'm interested in. Cost is my major concern though, EVs are crazy expensive compared to gas bikes.

Did the Zero make any noise or was it perfectly silent?
>>
>>16126688
They make gear whine
On a normal bike the engine drowns it out, but elecrics just go bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Also, unless you literally dismount, take the bike in and live in europe you'll never have enough juice
Can't imagine how the poor fucks with 120 can even think about DDing an EV

Everyone knows you don't know shit when you say an FZ6 is the same as an R6. The only thing that is the same as the cc rating(engine is tuned differently, balance shafts, rpm limits, power output and longevity expectancy) and the chassis is entirely different. Please don't speak.

the Zero had, I think, a 100 mile range total, long enough to have a decent commute, and there's the possibility of charging it during the day. Depending on the version you get it was something like $10k new. The saving you get in fuel doesn't make up the cost difference of getting a 250 or other 60+ MPG bike. The only noises the Zero made was a "wheeeeeeeeeee" under power and a louder and deeper "wheeeee" when doing regenerative braking.

He is right, you are retarded.
calling them a supermoto is kinda stupid too.
It would be like me calling a bike a motocross bike because it has dirt tyres.

A supermoto is more agile than a sportbike, sorry to burst your bubble. The tighter the turns get the more advantage the SM has.

And yes California.
>>
>>16127377
You have obviously never ridden a dirt bike or a road bike you mean?

If you had you would never want to ride a dirt bike on the road again, it is wasted potential for a bike that can corner about as fast as a super sport without the ability to do over 200km/h while having overly soft suspension that has far too much travel for cornering on anything other than a completely smooth go kart track
>>
>>16127379
you do realize that supermodo predates dedicated supermoto bikes, right? just think about that then go sit in the corner for a bit
>>
>>16127396
There are so many discrepancies with what you just said... i dont even know how to reply
>>
>>16127393
sorry to burst your bubble but streets don't often have turns with a 15 foot radius.
>>
>>16127393
Dirt bikes are designed to corner through ruts, not on lean angles.

Define supermoto.
>>
>>16127398
The origins of supermoto was originally a race series called "superbikers" which combined dirt and pavement with elements of roadracing, motocross, and flat track. NOT scrubs throwing 17" wheels on dirt bikes to ride around on streets all day for "muh superior handling," when really they only ride in straight lines and doing wheelies.

>motard riders actually think their bikes are better on road than sports bikes
Can't do, jumps, climbs or whoops so you do willies down main streets while rev bombing without a baffle yeah?
>>
>>16127431
fun fact, they used street tires, not knobbies. granted they were on the dirt rims.
>>
>>16127396
I like how you didn't mention that most supermotos are at least 100lbs lbs lighter than the average sportbike

You bring your supersport to Rock Creek ( NorCal off 193 ) and see how well a SM works on a tight bumpy road. 10 miles of pure supermoto bliss.
>>
>>16127443
looks like flat track tires on flat track rims. they actually show a close up of it at some point in the video.
My point wasn't about the tires though. It's about the bikes being used for a very specific style of racing, not """""""""""""""""""""""hooning"""""""""""""""" on the street.
>>
>>16127431
per wikipedia:
>Prior to the 1990s, supermoto bikes, including the precursor motorcycles used in Superbikers, were converted open-class two-stroke motocross or enduro bikes desired for their light weight and jumping abilities.
i'm not even sure what you're trying to argue. "supermoto" bikes were obviously dirt bikes with street tires thrown on them. granted the front is a lot smaller these days, but the fact remains that supermoto predates dedicated supermoto bikes, and the first supermoto bikes were literally just dirt bikes.
>>
>>16127449
pic related? I think I'll bring my dual sport instead because there's no need for meme wheels.

I'm just going to assume you're a nobike, even at the most you DO have a bike and DO do track days, you're not racing, you're not professional, no one here is. The most exciting thing anyone here does is hit 20+ mph over the limit on their daily commute. Get your racing garbage out of here.

sure, although the DRZ isn't exactly super

The fact that you brought racing into this at all is pretty autistic, the conversation went from hurr ur not getting sick leans from a dirt bike, to ur not staying true to origins of superbikers.

Fuck off.

>the point was they're not using the bikes on the street
supermoto races have a paved component, so they are purpose-built to ride on pavement. there is nothing wrong with riding them on pavement because it is engineered into them, especially with modern purpose-built sumo's. as for why people ride them on the street, they fill a niche between dual sport and sport/adventure tourer for when you want elements of both but the specialization of neither.
>>
>>16127485
no nigger I'm saying a dirt bike with street wheels/tires is has a use, but choosing to use that as a street bike is literally pointless

>>
>>16127499
Yes, a supermoto is more agile than a sports bike in "general". Depends on what you're doing.

But to go on a sperg rant about racing and the origins of Supermoto riders, what tires they use, where they ride.

You need to chill the fuck out.
>>
>>16127499
it's not pointless at all. it offers light weight, decent power with a focus on low-end torque, a suspension travel more than long enough to soak up the literal worst the street can throw at you, and a high, commanding riding position to keep a good view of the road.

this argument is giving me cancer and i don't even ride a supermoto.
