I have used virtually every "action cam" on the market and nothing beats GoPro in terms of overall value. There are some pitfalls depending on the model you go with but something like the Hero 3+ which can be had for sub $200 is a pretty much fool-proof method to get your hands on a reliable camera with decent picture quality. I will admit, there is room for improvement (which you can get by getting the 4 or 5) but ease of use, durability, software, etc.... are all very very highly developed in GoPros.

Would anybody be interested in a ride through Vietnam next year?

like we meet up in HCM or Hanoi, buy some scooters or light motorcycles, and ride our way around the country for a month or so?

I'm going to do it either next year or the year after, would anybody else be interested in joining me?

I think it'd be really cool, and it's a cheap place to travel

I am not a gopro shill, fuck face. I am someone that has been involved on the manufacturing side of action cameras and I can tell you with absolute confidence that GoPro has invested significant resources into their development and it's very apparent in their cameras. Action cameras are one of those products that need to "just work" and that isn't easy to do. Go open up a GoPro and you'll see that they use potted electronics whereas the Chinese clones just throw in the PCB and hope for the best.

You really need to muscle it up. You'll get the hang of it eventually. Set the bike upright, hold onto it firmly, push down the center stand with your foot until it touches the ground, DOUBLE CHECK that the bike actually is upright and centered so that the other side of the center stand is also making contact with the ground (this is where people fuck up...make sure the other side is also touching the ground, not just the side closest to your foot), and then while applying pressure with your foot just rock the bike backwards forcefully and it'll pop up

I work for a post-production house. We're getting a lot of pro-sumer and consumer grade crashcam video in, which sucks because the shit never comes in with any attached metadata. So there is always extra manual steps needed.

A few observations:

one, Gopro is shit. Everyone, I mean EVERY production, every colorist or ADP I have talked to has had, at some time, a gopro file that just wouldn't read, couldn't be transcoded, and represented a lost shot.

Two, these guys will use anything. I see Gopro, Panasonic, Sony (lots of sony, as sony is activly promoting their shit,) etc.

Gopro spends a lot of time on even color reproduction, etc. Nobody cares. Colorists fix all that. Same with lens distortion, nobody cares. We use Colorfront Transkoder to fix that. There's plenty of other tools, it's easy to do.

The pro's have money to give to a post house. You don't. You have less time than you think, too. You should be out riding, not sitting in front of the monitor being al autists about your shot. Set your shit up to look good right out of the camera. Use the simplest and fastest stuff you can find to edit and transcode. Spend your time riding and shooting.
>>
>>16124931
still pretty powerful

>>16124949

That's really hard to answer because I don't buy this stuff, I just deal with the files. (I don't even do that, I deal with the people who deal with the files) I honestly don't know how much it costs. Once the colorist is done with it, even the craptastic Chinese stuff looks great.

The golden rule is that if the video looks good to your eyes, it's good. I'm using a Mobius in 1080p, with a camera setup (vivid, manual white balance) I got off of a drone forum. It was really blue when I got it. Looks good. I need to turn down the EV to keep the highlights from getting blown out, but I'm lazy. The real reason I use it is that it looks good enough straight out of the camera and it has only moderate shutter roll ("jello", if you know what that is)

I guess my advice is to look at online samples, and pick something that looks good to YOUR eyes. And make sure it has a manual color balance, OR your tools make color balance really really easy.

it means a girl at the minimum age for marriage and sexual relations. that's post pubescent for everyone but muslims, so it's not pedo by defintiion.

unless you're american, then 17 year olds are pedo and taking dick picks at that age is a felony.

You don't live in america do yah? City roads are garbage, highways are garbage. I'd take a dual sport or something with A+ suspension travel/softness over anything any day.

And yeah you're totally right, SF's are great cities, riding position, suspension and power are all on point with nakeds/standards, but I like to do silly things and take my siht anywhere, now of course you can essentially do that with any bike depending on bravery, but I'd rather take a dirt bike with 100 dollar fairings vs something like a bandit or an SV with metal gas tanks, and 500 dollar OEM fairings.

Honestly though enduros are seriously one of the most fun bikes to be on. I mean other bikes have ways to get your panties wet but enduros are always something can hop on and have fun doing random shit.

Hello guys, fellow UK motorcyclist here.

So I've successfully finished my first season on my first bike - CBF600SA.
By now I've realised that I want a twin cylinder bike instead. The reason is torque. I don't mind if it's L, V or parallel as long as it's a twin, I would avoid boxer if I could.
Reason I want it like this is because I mainly use the bike for commuting and I simply hate revving 4cyl bike to 5k rpm just to pull away from cars. And I simply like the slight vibe and precious sound from 2cyl.

What I want from you fellas is to please recommend me a 2cyl bike that is: 650+, not clip-on's steering, comfortable, preferably with fairing (naked will do if pretty enough), not a skinny rear tyre and abs (newbie here).
I've obviously looked at the bikes for a pretty long time now and I can't seem to find a bike that I would actually want. The one that would appeal to me instead of just being yet another bike that I'll look to sell after 1 month.

So far I've looked at:
ER6f/Ninja 650 - currently best match for me, but it looks pretty small and looks pretty dull, low equipped.

Various Ducati Monster - super pretty, but they have lots of unneeded tech that I would trust for reliability.

SV650 - awesome engine, everything else works against me though: no abs, naked, very low equipped.

DL650 - everything fits well apart from being not as nimble in tight traffic as non-tourer bikes and that rear skinny tyre that I absolutely hate.

VFR800 - yes, v4 and clip-on's, but the machine is amazing. But I will never buy one since my father in-law has one and it would be silly to buy the same.

Is there anything you would recommend based on your own experience?

I only pay 65 a month for my bikes with fill coverage
>>
>>16125860
>I could buy a fully new set of plastics for 100 dollars
>b-but I culd get garbage cracked scratched nicked broken plastics and a gas tank that looks like my mothers lumpy ass for 100 dollars too!!!

Ok
>>
>>16125866
I don't get, a sv650 is low equipped but a monster has too much stuff?
>>
>>16125892
no if you want broken plastics and a old gas tank you can buy a whole replacement bike for 100 bucks
you're trying too hard famalam, gg no re
>>
>>16125843
Dual sports are also nice when you want to cross a median to route around a traffic jam or accident, or take advantage of a dirt road, unfinished road, or scarified road. People who hate dual sports should not buy them.

>But I will never buy one since my father in-law has one and it would be silly to buy the same.
this is the stupidest line of logic i've ever seen in my life. you're going to let the fact that your father in law has the bike you want convince you that you don't want it, even though you practically admit it's exactly what you want?

there is far less variation in motorcycles than there is in cars. if that machine is what you think works best for you then fucking get it. stop being a dweeb.
>>
Yes, as far as I know monsters have a lot of race tech coming from usual ducati stuff that you'll never need on the road.
For example a forced valve return that is controlled via belt that allows engine to be revved infinitely without piston kissing valves. But this is not needed on a road bike and require religious looking after
>>
One day I will have a fucking Fireblade
>>
>>16125943
learn to quote replies or go back to plebbit
>>
>>16125931
haha, means you have a short life my friend. The reason I wouldn't get it is that I get to ride it anyway occasionally and by getting the same one I would lose an opportunity to ride a different bike. I'll try to find a pic of that one
>>
>>16125960
Wasn't answering the lads talking about the Fireblade, just opened up /o/, found /dbt/ and posted my shit.

>went to gunshow today, because Murica

All in all was an ok day

Ya know, sometimes I forget how ridiculous I can look on the 250
>>
>>16125940
it's just desmodronic valve not black magic, they have been using it for like 60 years now and just keep it for flavour
I know it's more expensive to service but I doubt the maintenance intervals are tighter
>>
>>16125980
service intervals for modern ducatis are actually getting longer than some equivalent jappo offerings. that said, those scheduled services are still much more expensive
>>

VFR and the CBF
>>
>>16125968
was .223/5.56 expensive at yours? I was seeing bulk going for 40 cents a round and above. I ended up buying a nugget can and some ak74 ammo instead
>>
>>16125991
Nop, I'm 187 cm.

>>16125866
P sure you can get an SV with ABS even in freedomland. Personally I like my bikes naked, because you get to feel the speed more, and with the faired 250 the wind would always get redirected onto my neck and get me a sore throat
The seat is not good though, I'm looking to get it reupholstered

>>
>>16125940
what do their race engine rev to?
>>
>>16126017
Hmm, never found one pre 2010 with an abs, might have overlooked. Reason I mention that is because I'm currently on the cheap, <£3k.

And about the fairings I'm maybe more biased as well because of the frequent rain in here, although I never had a naked bike and a difference may not be as big as I think it is

>>
I'm falling really hard for the Hayabusa lately. Especially when I can get a decent (older) one for 3,5k - 4k€
I don't know what it is though. 175hp is nothing special nowadays and for sportstouring I'd likely pick a VFR.

Maybe it's just the legacy of the bike and that I hardly see them IRL comapred to all the liters.
>>
>>16125553
I switched my seat out for a large buttplug, I honestly recommend this to any fixie bike rider.
