the gs500 truly has no point outside of cucked countries. in the US, big displacement CBs are better bikes in every single way.

in what regard and what CB are you talking about?
The GS500 is a cheap, decently efficient bike, entry bike.
>>
>>16112313
The price difference is neglible since a CB1000 is a "start on, stay with" type of bike and a GS500 will be a "start on, sell, upgrade" bike for most people. If you buy a clean GS500 and drop it, you just lost half the resale value. 'Grats.

A GS500 has a similar value to a 250 around me. Do you really advise buying a 1000cc, almost 600 lb. bike over buying something that is manageable and capable of carrying you for a few seasons that you don't have to worry that much about dropping for a starter bike?

you realize that in order to check if a frame is straight they have to send the motorcycle out to somewhere that has specialized equipment, right?

Live in New Zealand, bikes are a bit overpriced. I was planning on buying a brand new GSXR750 since it was coming on special this month and had waited 2 months with no bike for it. Plans have changed and looks like I'll be moving in 5 months so want a bike I can sell easily at the same price then. There's only 2 for sale second hand in the whole country, both overpriced

I'd probably still get the gsx-r just because it's the newest and will be the least worn but it really depends on what you want to use the bike for.

I mean do you really beat on the bike? is it going to do trackdays? stuff like that. I'd get the zx-6r for track days, cbr600rr for coneing and user friendly type stuff etc.

I mean end of the day, we're not you, I'm aware /dbt/ is not going to be a major part of your decision making process and you're just indecisive period but it really comes down to you test riding all 3 bikes then making your choice then.

are Americans not smart enough to detune those bikes when they go in for emissions testing?
They are sent from the factory detuned and running like shit so they pass all the noise and emissions laws here then when they get to what ever bike shop the people there tune the bike properly.

Thats also how 100kg bikes that make 60bhp make it onto the LAMS lists when bikes that make 60bhp and weigh 200kg are illegal for learners.

Every American state has its own rules. California allows bikes that do not meet street bike smog standards to be sold for off road or competition use only. So manufacturers typically sell separate on and off road versions, or sell dirt bikes that do not meet street emissions standards. California does not allow these to be converted to street use.

A bike that comes compliant from OEM is guaranteed to be tuned properly for the law, and will always have reference data available so any knob can look at it and see if you modified something or not

A bike a shop or individual detunes for roadworthiness has no such advantages. It's not worth the effort when states are already strapped for cash between roads, education, welfare, and really fucking fat salaries for representatives (what's the best way to make sure you truly represent the people and their interests? make five times their average salary, duh)

i think extra weight is harder to deal with than extra horsepower. better off jumping to a light little supersport or a more intermediate sport tourer with less heft and horses all around. i'm sure others will disagree with me though.

a big increase in horsepower changes how you apply throttle. a big increase in weight changes absolutely everything about how the bike handles

Actually riding the bike was easy, maybe easier than the 500, just because the throttle was so much smoother in the lower gears.

Not trying to match the motoGP style fairings with motoGP style riding with zero track experience was pretty hard. RIP viffer.

I bent my brake lever, bent the sprocket guard protectors (whatever the two rings attached to the sprocket between it and the swing arm are) and scratched the ever loving fuck out of the left side of the bike. >The problem with the assumption that the four-strokes are slower by nature is that it is wrong. Sure, you can make an argument that the piston travels four time as far for one revolution, but in practice, four-strokes can produce almost the same amount of power as an equally displaced two-stroke. As technology has evolved, the four-stroke engines have rocketed ahead of two-strokes, making two-strokes too slow for serious competition in the pro or national amateur levels.

I was stopped in heavy traffic and a car hit me from behind. Fortunately I came out (almost) completely okay. Traffic was slow enough that it didn't even throw me off the bike, I rode it down though I didn't have any time to react before I was down there. I twisted my leg at the knee at some point so it's sore but my head didn't hit the ground, I didn't get any whiplash or back pain, and my backpack nor my jeans are torn.

The guy who hit me was more shaken up than I was and I don't blame him. Hitting someone is a big deal and even more so when that person is on a bike.

Also fortunate for me was the fact that there was a nurse, a paramedic and a police officer all headed in to work today that happened to be within about two or three car lengths.

As per all the advice I seem to read here, I went ahead and went to the hospital to get checked out. All x-rays came back clean and I was given a mega ibuprofen and was sent out within an hour or so.

Had my bike towed to the shop and I'm now awaiting the cost assessment on how much it will take to fix her. Near as I can figure, she's alright engine-wise. I didn't see a scratch on her outside of the obvious fender/taillight/fusebox damage. A little iron shavings on the footboard mount, but she started okay on her own and moved under her own power into the shop.

Insurance claims have been filed and I had full coverage myself, so they should fix her up. But hey, if she IS totaled? I'll just get me a new one ;)

Always check your 6.

Did moving to the right a little extra save him from being run over?
I always move into the breakdown lane when I'm put in a situation like that. I've seen this kind of pile up 4 times firsthand and there's no fucking way I'm going to sit in waiting for an idiot with their brain switched off to squash me and my bike.

>>

It's street legal. You can ride it every day m8.
>>
>>16113249
I know broski I've read the description.
I mean why would you buy such a bike to actually ride it if you don't plan to run from cops all the time
even if you ride 200kmh constantly you're only using 50% of its power.

Therefore, nice decoration
>>

How much is the furnished?

Me personally I'd go for the cheapest unfurnished I could find, as long as it isn't heroin den-tier.

They stole my bicycle this week. I left it unlocked in a residential area with nobody for 10 minutes.
Wasn't even clearly visible from the street.

How do these niggers even do it? How do they know? It was like the only time I left it unlocked and it was a shit bicycle.
>oh, look, an unlocked bike, better stole it!
These kind of people are scum, I really feel like I want to catch one in the act and beat him up and I'm a peaceful person.

You could also do it with machinists or digital levels and a frame dimension drawing from the service manual. Laser levels are so useful for precision alignment many machinists and fabricators use them.

I'd use the test ride method. It behaves or it doesn't end of story. Motorcycles are not aircraft (and many old aircraft have to have considerable trim applied to fly straight, including jet fighters).

Some grips have plastic sleeves which go over the throttle tube and suck to remove. Others just cling to the throttle tube.. I can't see close enough to tell if that's a grip sleeve or the throttle tube, but that's easy for OP to answer for himself. Is there a sleeve INSIDE that black plastic tube of some other material? What do you see in the gap between your switch housing and the "flange" on the cluster side of the tube from which you removed the grip?

If your new grips have a plastic sleeve inside them like the one in pic, then the old one needs to come off but make sure it's not the throttle. You can also peel away thet roadrashed plastic at the end of the handlebar.

Don't live in a State with vehicle inspections. They waste a workday for every inspection plus burning the fuel to get the vehicle to the inspection station and back in the first place. Safety inspections are pointless outside the Rust Belt but wise riders don't live where there is winter enough to provoke road salting.
>>
>>16112597
I'd inspect the fuel tank with a bright light and consider draining it because there's always some moisture in the bottom of any tank. Other than that if it runs fine no worries.
