I think the CSC is fine for a commuter or random dirt road bike. As an adventure bike in the sense of what they are actually used for, it's fine [except the 74mph top speed]. As an actual adventure bike and a do it all machine, it's pretty shit.

Just take it to a shoe/leather repair person and get a quote, you'd be fucking amazed at what they can fix and how cheap it is. I've had my local guy repair boots, jackets, gloves, tank bags....everything. No point replacing something over what will most likely be a $10-$20 repair. /dbt/ what does engine knocking really sound like? I'm not sure if I should be using premium fuel or not in my bike. I've completely replaced the exhaust with the very free-flowing Yoshimura which lacks a catalytic converter, barely can be considered a muffler, and is a straight-through design with no S-curves or anything.

Anyway I'm wondering if I should put premium in my bike even though the manual says regular for the stock bike.

Changing the exhaust shouldn't change the point at which ignition occurs, from my understanding. Ingition mistiming is the cause of knocking.
Change ECU settings / rejet carbs for proper air/fuel ratio and that should be it.
