Has anybody here tried out a Braaap?

$4750, brand new, 250cc, includes LIFETIME warranty. Designed by some hipster fuck in Melbourne, built in China, each one fully inspected in Australia before it's sold.

considering the most fucked up 20 year old+ 250 Suzuki Access or CBR is $2k+ on road costs+repairs, that's not looking too bad for a brand new bike.
>>
>>13983742
You read what people had to say in the last thread. If you want to buy it then be prepared to call in on that warranty often. Are you sure about what the warranty covers? Id rather take the 5 grand and buy a bike from one of the big 4 Japanese companies.

>>13983754
By 1995, Japanese manufactures already had a decent reputation. The Japanese edged their way into the American market earlier than that by doing the same thing that the Chinese brands are doing. Once they became more established they started to improve and become what they are today. Now that doesn't mean that they were good by any stretch. They were cheap and not nearly as reliable as they are now. Same with the Chinese, they are edging into the market by providing an extremely cheap product with sub par reliability. They still have a while before they get things sorted like the Japanese have it.

I think it is the squared headlight that gives them that look. I used to ride a Honda hurricane back then and it had the same boxy ass end and squared light.

Had my license for 2 years before I dumped it trying to avoid a kid on a bike with no brakes.

I was 19 and riding a CL175 with drum brakes. It wasn't very damaged but needed some work and was stolen shortly after by and found at a grow-op about 5 years later.

I haven't crashed or even had any close calls since.

Man, it sure is nice to ride around a parking lot for 20 minutes and then have an unrestricted license.
>>
>>13984339
In US the whole test takes place in a little posting lot around cones. You go and prove that you can ride a 250 in little circles and that gets you a license to ride as fast a bike as you can afford on open roads. Yes, really.

Interesting.
The ride along is probably a good idea.
What about bike classes? I'm glad I have an unlimited license but I always thought it was ridiculous to think passing a test on a 250 is considered all the proof you need to ride a thousand pound chrome barge or a 170hp race replica.
>>
>>13984389
I would have much less issue with tiered licenses if it wasn't such a cluster fuck of red tape and blatant money grab by the government. I took the MSF in Pennsylvania (its a free class) and got my license after a year of riding on my permit. Easy and cost me nothing at all.
>>
>>13984400
To clarify, passing the MSF class gets you an unrestricted license.

its mostly like an car license as in you have a writen part but the end exam is split off in two parts to minimalise chance of tards on bikes killing themselfs to quick

not sure anymore but i think it was 250cc for 18-22 450(?) for 22-24 650-unlim for 24+ or a license for 3(?) years

pic unrelated, just felt like ranting about my 8th case this year ill probably lose whilst not even being near the location where it was done.

I've ridden for 5 years. Owned 5 bikes in that time. Last 2 litre peter. Taught myself to ride by watching YouTube videos then practising on the street outside the house I brought my first 250 on by myself.

Had a few close calls, 99% caused by cagers. And a couple times sliding a little in the set or popping a wheelie off a bump coming out of a corner and getting wobbles.

Never dropped, slid or so much as put a scratch on any of my bikes.

Does this mean a big one is coming?

Idk man, shit happened so quick that it takes a second for it to process through your brain that shit is not in your control, then you apply little brake pressure and hope the stabilizer straightens out.

Living in NYC is retarded for motorcyclists, but in a strange way I kinda feel safe that no one runs any reds or stop signs that you always hear in middle of no where.

What you mean? Near my house there's parking almost always, and if not on my block, then one around the corner, and I have parking driveway in front of the house, so 2 cars can get in. NYC ain't too bad, always something to do, something to see, but the traffic is killer, it's insane going from riding between cars on the highway and getting places within 15-20 minutes, to taking a car and needing to plan 1 hour in advance in order to cope with the sheer amount of cars, and don't even think about Rush hour.

Really need to get over the fact my VFR is old and it's just natural with old bikes. Need not to worry so dang much

Saw a CB1100 R there at the show that was imported from France. Sub 10k miles, mint as FUG, rare as hell. Blew my mind seeing that there since it was a limited production bike not even available in the US. Very funky wheels on it.

Looks like pan, definitely on the bottom end. I'd take everything off, but I'm at an apartment complex and need to borrow a friends garage (and find a way to move my stands as well). Am ordering the stuff to redo the pan when I get home though, just wanted to know if RTV slapped kinda ghettoish would work fine.

Doing pretty well. Had tons of fun commuting through the twisty forest and didn't even feel like my life was in that much of a danger.
How much does a cb250 weigh anyway?

I'm thinking my next bike should be A.) even lighter B.) a little more roomy and C.) touring capable. Any suggestions, dear /dbt/?

I wish I had ridden more bikes to be actually able to give you a proper opinion.

The twofiddy is a blast, you give it a little input and it dives straight innacorner. Even roundabouts are fun. Sadly with bad tyres+suspension it jumps and slides all over the place.

The MT feels really fucking fat in comparison and you need to work to lean it, but it does feel a great deal more stable and planted and generally safe midcorner.

Pretty much your only option if you want lighter and more powerful is something like an RC390, idk about touring capable though but they weigh 139kg wet.

Sounds like your suspension is too soft for you,
>>13985336
the cb corners bretty good for what it is but to get it cornering like i have it now took a fair bit of suspension tweaking, it used to do the same thing as your 250 through corners when the suspension was too soft.
>>
>>13985661
>a little more roomy
This thing is like a fukn pitbike. I was thinking more in terms of a DRZ. Don't really care about power, might look into an NSR

>>13985689
I'm having problems when I let off the gas mid corner. I know I shouldn't, but when I do the front enters a weird oscillation which I believe is caused by the forks being severely underdamped. Particularly on one corner near my house that always induces that effect even when not doing anything with them throttle

CBF250 is about 138kg dry.

I'd get any middle weight naked if I were you. The difference in power when you're used to a 250 is amazing. You can add the ugly bike starter kit (frame protection, windshield and trunk bag) if you wanna tour.

>>13985689
Yeah. It's a budget commuter, I'm surprised it hasn't exploded in a million pieces given the abuse it gets. Say, do you think thicker suspension oil can help, or I shouldn't even bother?

Also almost bough a 2005 Tuono from an English guy the other day. Bike was looking pretty good and talked him down to 2300€. But I actually got bills to pay, so next bike swap will have to wait a bit.

Ahhh yeah thats a big problem, as un natural as this sounds you do not let off the gas mid corner, this puts weight over the front wheel and will cause under steer and also the death wobbles due to the weight being put on the bike in a diagonal direction.

What you want to do instead is come into a corner with steady throttle then accelerate at the apex, this will actually bring the bike back in and give more stability.
And as far as steering dampeners go i don't use one lol, takes away like half of your counter steer responsiveness if you have one, i just get down lower to avoid death wobbles, i do want to get one for when im not hooning though because pot holes + 1 hand riding = bad time without one
>>
>>13985744
Have you adjusted the dampening on your suspension?
Most people tend to have their dampening set to the lowest setting for mah bum comfort
