Japan is still a country in which all kinds of guitar music is popular unlike here in west.

I've been really getting into my Jazz III XLs lately, but I'm in limbo between the nylon and stiffo versions. Are the Ultex or Primetone versions, or for that matter any other brand's answer to the picks, worth trying out to be a deal breaker? I'm a fan of a brighter cleaner timbre if it helps.
>>
>>74499161
It's heartwarming that they never gave up on shred after 1991 like 90% of the West did.

Hell, Mr. Big were actually the most popular Western artist in Japan during the '90s. They sold more albums and tickets there than Madonna and Michael Jackson did combined during the mid-90s, which is fucking terrifying.

It's because their traditional instrument is string based and when played it actually creates distorted sound so even the older generation of people have gotten used to this sound even before modern guitar music invaded. That's what this guy said. The one with curly hair and shark inlays. I'm afraid to mention his name because people are scared of shredders.

The guitar is a really good instrument but guitarists are actually really very stupid and vermin too.

I'm not even saying you need to read music or know theory in that snobby classicalcuck way it's just that many of you are total babies and don't know anything. If you use tabs you are a retard. 99% of guitar recordings can be imitated instantly by listening if you have a modicum of ear training.

I notice that many of you are timbre deaf as well and don't know how to get a good tone, like if someone says how do I get this tone and it's blatant what signal chain the person is using, you give some answer that is way off the mark because you can't hear. Yet you boast about pedalboards full of pedals that you bought because you read some artist had it but you can't actually hear.

You don't need even any interface if your guitar pickups are powerful enough. I plug straight into my soundcard's line in and use Reaper/Amplitube. Install Asio4All drivers and you'll get 5ms latency, no hitches or issues.

But if you play with other people then you need an amp. JCM800/900, 100w head is always great choice.

In my experience learning harmony in the guitar is just about learning a billion really small and simple blocks of information in an coherent progression making sure you've got each step right before moving to the next one.
So have an idea, let's make a GG officially sanctioned music harmony progression so that everyone can follow it:

Name of the notes
What is a step what is a half step
What is an interval (and visualizing them in the guitar)
What is a chord?
Triad chords (all positions, minor, dim and aug)
The major scale in 5 patterns
Using the same pattersn for minor scale
Circle of fifths
Modes

....
profit?

A Neopolitan chord is simply a major triad that is built on a special note. This note is the lowered second degree (the supertonic) of a major or minor scale.

Easiest way to incorporate it right away is probably to learn the Dominant Pentatonic scale.

That is to say: Play the Minor Pentatonic Scale we all know and love, except change all the flat thirds to natural thirds within the scale shape.

You should get pic related when you're done.

Otherwise saying, "root, third, fifth, seventh, ninth, eleventh, and thirteenth" has no context.

that's not that bad if you started a few weeks ago and it's your first instrument

ive heard that you should never skip a fret with adjacent fingers, but on bass once you get down past the 15th its it feels so weird playing that way

is it true that you should never do that even when playing higher notes (eg. play 15th fret with index then 17th with middle) or are there exceptions
>>
>>74507781
im probably doing something wrong but it happens like this:

>play string with finger

im also new so theres that too

>>
>>74508708
Don't practice at the fastest tempo that you can possibly play. Rather pick an exercise that you can cycle repeatedly at a moderate tempo and practice it DAILY. Doing this daily will help your muscle memory with your picking hand really come together.

Also pay attention to whether you feel tension or pain in your shoulder or anywhere it shouldn't be and try to make adjustments to your posture and technique to help this tension and pain go away.

There's a sweet spot: a range of motion with a minimal amount of resistance. You're not trying to muscle your way through it because the muscle never tenses. I'm looking for it (again) because I recently altered my picking technique to employ a fixed palm, which I find gives me better control over the low E than floating. Anyway, I can't go back to making music until it's mine!

Mute all the strings you're not playing with your picking hand, since it's not doing anything useful anyway. Now you can hammer away as hard as you can without worrying about bumping one of those other noisy strings.
