Your whole mix seem to be very bass heavy. There isn't room for anything because bass, drums and guitar are all in the same space. I'd try to separate them by doing new mix. But nice thing, surprisingly high quality as such though. Because I thought /gg/ would only post le Gibson + Bob Dylan songs.

>>
>>74480443
Yeah but good looks help, even for guys. Pewdiepie has worked as model and shit like that. I'd imagine that playing music is the same thing unless of course you are super gifted and play some virtuoso shit but that's a completely different thing. I wouldn't waste my talents for making youtube videos if I had such skills. But Youtube money making isn't that straightforward I think it was like 1000 = 1$, 10,000 = 10$ = 100,000 = 100$ and 1,000,000 = 1000$ if I remember correctly. I think it was Phillip McKnight who mentioned how much money he's able to make from his 'Know your Gear' videos. But it's funny that know your gear could also mean that he's talking about drugs lel.

> £115

Should I pull the trigger on this? It seems to be regarded as a pretty decent cheap Tele. My current guitar is a 90s Ibanez RG550 which I don't particularly enjoy playing, and I could probably sell it for about £315 and have a bit of cash to upgrade the hardware and pickups on the chink tele.

Alternatively I could watch the used market and probably get something like a Mexican Fender Tele, Indonesian G&L Tribute Asat, or Schecter PT for about £400.

I'm pretty drunk right now and this feels like one of those situations where I'll feel like a shekel saving genius if it's a decent guitar or I'll chastise myself for being a moron if it's crap (although I could just return it for £15 postage).

> it sounds dark and muddy and has nowhere near as much 'bite' no matter what settings I mess with

Is this more down to the pickups or the difference in woods? If I'm not mistaken the traditional Les Paul tone is supposed to be "smooth and creamy" but if the Epi is anything to go by those are just synonyms for muddiness. Is it just a matter of taste?
>>
>>74483726
The wood affects sound but not as much as you would think. See some comparison videos on youtube perhaps.

The biggest thing which affects your sound is your string gauge and which kind of pickups you have. Seymour Duncans are almost always really fucking nice unless they are fucked up somehow, maybe the guy who installed them didn't do his job properly, grounding etc could be an issue. Also are you sure you don't have your tone knob or pickup selector messed up? Also pickup and string height will affect the tone clarity...

>>
>>74484823

I think it's even better to learn on an acoustic first, strengthens your fingers so it'll be even easier to play on an electric. Only tapping won't work that well on an acoustic.

Start with songs like At the Drive In's and Cap 'n Jazz and dive into songs like TTNG's etc. later when you get the basics down.

Wood has basically zero meaningful effect in terms of tone-shaping, each guitar is going to sound different. Even two guitars made from the exact same slab of mahogany can sound more different than two guitars made from two different breed of trees.
Even bridge selection has a more meaningful effect on tone.

Pro tip to new guitarists: never buy shit you don't need. It's very easy to fall into the GAS trap of obsessing over new gear, but remember that guitarists are one of the most well loved demographics for shysty corporations. It's easy to sell expensive shit to a guitarist as long as you make him think it'll make him a better player. Don't buy high powered amps and cabs thinking you'll need them eventually (buy them when you actually need them), and don't buy fancy guitars thinking they'll make you a better player or entice/guilt trip you into practicing more because you paid so much for them.

The only exception I would name is high-wattage valve amps, since you can't really get power tube distortion at home. But I guess with Mesa/Boogie stuff most of the sound is in the preamp section.

I have $1000 and some loose change for taxes, I want to get a new guitar amp, I play a Strat and play in a punk-ish band.

I was thinking of going for the Hot Rod Deville 410 that Fender has right now, but a friend is also selling a Sovtek 2x12 cab and I'm not sure if I should cop.

Are there good tube heads that handle fuzz well for around ~$500?

Forgot to add that because you don't have live band to follow you just play the intro first and then play rest of the song with backing track... and edit them together or something. It's impossible to make it fit unless you adjust your own playing in the end. Or maybe you could make click track by yourself, following those first 4 in time...

If I had I would do it as a joke but not too much or otherwise that would obvious. You'd need to live a double life in this sense that your online persona is lbgt friendly and is doing videos about some stupid trinkets, some pedals and then backbone of the channel would be 'how to play'. It would most certainly work. But I guess even if it's pretty good looking content it would take some time to catch up and you would just need to keep doing those videos until it gets popular enough. But well, that's not my life unfortunately.

Just practice couple of songs. Pick something which you can play and then something which is over your current level. Then keep practicing the fast riffs until you start to play them without too much effort. It can take 1 month or 6 months but eventually if you keep playing you will gain enough stamina and control on your picking hand. Also be very wary of your right hand technique. If it sucks watch some youtube videos how the band is actually playing... It just takes some time.

Then of course while playing these riffs from the band you can play something else as well but if you want to actually learn to play the riffs from the band itself you need to practice them.

A Les Paul is a pretty good all arounder. Pretty much anything would work for Marilyn Manson songs.

>retard
Yeah, retard fits. Who else would bask in "the glory" of having people respond to them on a chat forum where that's what people do? And then, as if his self image depends on it, he calls his posts bait as if he's some master-mind manipulator. You watch as he dwells on it multiple this hour... Truly pathetic.
