Speaking of EQD, what are some pedal companies that are highly regarded but for some reason you don't own any of them and why? For me it's EQD and EHX I can't find any OD/Fuzzes from either of them that I like and their modulation effects sound inferior to Boss and the likes
>>
>>71800474
The guy playing them sounds like shit.

All of these EGC videos have only proven money can't buy talent.

Buzzo plays one. That's enough for me.
>>
Should I get an Epiphone?

>>71800518
EQD seem kinda gimmicky to me. Instead of being neutral and versatile tools they seem like "stomp on this for a quirky sound you'll barely ever use".

What's the verdict on Schecter? The Stiletto Extreme 4 sounds decent for the price.
>>
>>71800753
Well no.

I've been going through King Gizzard's discography and noticed they mold their sound a bit for each album:

Eyes Like the Sky: Western
Willoughby's Beach: Surf

I don't really know much about music theory and I'm just starting to play guitar so I'm wondering how they're able to move from theme to theme like that
>>
>>71800810
>Schecter

I played their PJ copy thing when I was looking for a new bass and liked it a lot. It was pretty out of whack though, it only sat in the shop 6 months and had neck twist issues. Their QC seems to have gone downhill because it was the best playing out of the ones I've messed with in the past few years even with the twist problem.

Their in-house pickups sound like shit to me, but if you get ahold of one YMMV

Will a Jazz Bass neck fit on a PBass? Or can I route PBass pickups to replace the neck jazz pickup? I feel the answer would be yes like swapping a Strat and Tele neck and the only issue for the bass would be a new pickguard and wiring/soldering

I think the better option is to aproach guitarists and offer them this deal, its pretty common for musicians here to buy imported stuff, other than that this is a great idea. Have you ever shipped a guitar? I have no idea if there is a chance of breaking or what

Assuming I would one day like to memorize the fretboard, which would be better for my understanding of music in the long run: memorizing scale patterns in every position in every key, or just learning the scale formula and figuring out every position in every key manually?
>>
>>71801703
The head is only $150 new by itself
>>
>>71802201
I think it's easier and gets you playing music faster if you just memorize scale patterns and get them under your fingers first, then worry about which scale degree each note is later.
>>
>>71802173
The only tax i think we should worry about is the personal import tax, which is about 50% of the product value. Of course the cheapest way would be if you personally, or i could go to.
In a flight we should be able to bring 1 guitar, maybe 2 small amps, a cellphone and a notebook maybe? We wouldnt be paying taxes and that would have a value of around 4000 dollars here, but idk how expensive is a plane from us to here

Is it basically necessary to get lessons if you want to advance from being a pleb that knows how to sort of play pentatonic improvisation and generic chords to someone who is more technical and understands music theory?

I see a lot of guitar lessons online but they are either for absolutely new beginners or for people who already have a decent technical foundation. I can't find a lot of info on how to actually advance when you are kind of inbetween

I would get lessons but I literally have no time for them and I can't afford them either.

Yeah people have done it for decades some people prefer the slimmer profile of a jazz neck. Not a problem as long as they are the same screw configuration.

As for adding a p bass pick up your looking at filling the cavity and cutting new ones which is allot of time and work. You could always just find a cheap p&j configured bass and just go with that, I can usually find one for 50-70 at a pawn shop.

No, if your going 100%brokefag get atleast a standard series, they are well with the extra couple bucks. The vintage modified series is a nice mid teir model, and I would take a classic vibe over a mim fender any day.

So no, I don't think any old Marshall will give you that sound but it'll likely get you in the ballpark. I would imagine he used Marshalls on their earlier stuff too so unless you can dish out all the cash for a Diezel (lol) I'd say go for a used JCM 900 or 2000 or something.

Hi mass bridge, decent as fuck pickups, they are modeled 50s, 60s, 70s so you'll get the little extras like the ash trays and thumb rest thinggys sometimes with fancier period correct paint jobs and pick guards. When just holding one and comparing it to a mim it just feels nicer, were talking comparing a top of the line product vs a bottom end product.

Has a nice glossy urethane neck that I really like but some people don't like.

In what sense? Just like Gibson and Fender they're 2 completely different brands. As far as quality I'm pretty sure most agree Epiphones are of better quality than Squire. But really both brands have some good quality guitars for the money.
>>
>>71804557
Depends on what you like, they sound and feel totally different. Go to guitar center or something and try them out, I personally don't like the Gibson/epi family and stick to fender/squier.

Just read some interweb discussions regarding picking technique. People furiously defending either 'inside' or 'outside' picking or whatever term they came up with.

I've kinda taught myself to pick the 1st and 3th 16th note of a beat down and 2 and 4 up.

Did this because I was so terrible with rhythm I had to keep my hand moving else i'd often 'turn around' a part because i'd be a 16th too late or too early.

Guess it's called alternate picking?
Anyways I figured you can't go wrong with this. Opinions?
>>
>>71800530
no, save your money for a real gibbo that will hold its value and not need a fret dress, new nut and pickup change right out the box, unless you can do those things yourself at minimal cost

look after that headstock if you do get a gibson though
>>
>>71800530
Very good beginner guitars and they can be quite tempting when thinking about laying down the money for a Gibson.

But if you've been playing a while and want a high quality guitar I wouldn't get an Epi. At the very least get a Gibson Studio LP or something. But not those tribute models. I'd take an Epi over those any day.
>>
>>71805700
alternate picking is fine

economy picking is apparently faster once you get used to it, but you have to spend a lot of time to make it second nature because it's quite awkward and unnatural. some people swear by it, but i don't play shred enough to really care about playing a bit faster
>>

>>71806169
I need a guitar now but can't afford gibson. I sold mine 10 years ago and quit playing. What if I bought one to tide me over? I can then put 200 a month into a shoebox gibson fund. But I really need a hobby right now,
>>
>>71806249
Get some cheap pawn shop Cort to keep you busy till you can afford the Gibson if you want to be able to play in the mean time.
>>
>>71806214
I used to strictly alternate pick and I'm just now starting to hone my economy picking after being disappointed with the lack of speed I get from alternate picking.

I think some people can get that speed with alternate picking, but I think there's something wrong with my physiology that puts my speed limit lower than theirs with strictly alternate pickstrokes.

I used to worry about economy picking feeling awkward and inconsistent, but guys like Frank Gambale, Jimmy Bruno, and Rick Graham can play pretty much anything they want to with it.

Like I said, Epis are solid guitars, no shame in owning one. Considering your scenario it sounds like a solid idea, especially if you really haven't played in 10 years.

https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ENTPBCNH

I'd do something like that, even has Gibson '57 classic pickups and not those shitty "ProBuckers" Then after a while if you still feel like it you can sell that and get a Gibson.

Not much to RedPill, just don't get anything but a real Les Paul (not studio) or a Strat.

The American Strat is a classic for a reason. It sounds good, its incredibly versatile in terms of both what styles you can play and sounds you can create. Be prepared to dress those frets though.

LP's are more limited in terms of style, but if you warm, full sound there isn't much better out there for the price, especially with heavier gauge strings. They're durable as fuck too outside of headstock issues.

>scrambling to keep your gear current

Most people in /mu/ seem to play traditional shit and not show interest in current day edgy meme machines. Amp modelling is an exception because Kempers and Axe Fx II are indisputably great pieces of gear.

It's not really "sucking corporate dick" when you're buying shit that has been tried and tested over 60+ years of tradition. People are looking for a sound that hits home with them and the classics deliver.
>>

tone wise with new pickups yeah, even playability is often realllyyy close.

Though, any good MIA strat really does feel nicer to hold. Feels more 'straight' more solid and sounds slightly better. It just has better a better attention to details.

IDK, I think it's worth to pay a decent chunk of money extra for slight benefits because those small benefits really transform the guitar from good to great. You're only buying the guitar once, why not make sure everything is of high quality?

MIA also holds value better

If you look closely you can see theyre standing on a riser (just a floor on wheels basically).

When you arrive at a festival show like this you typically arrive about 4-2 hours before your change-over. Any decent stage has some risers backstage and you've probably asked for some if you need them in your rider.
So you arrive, you talk to the stage manager, build the wall-o-amps on said riser, test it and whatever. You'll have time left to setup the guitars and your guitar-world and everything.

Then changeover happends, the other band goes off-stage with all their gear, you roll everything on stage, connect everything, do a line check when nothing goes wrong during the line-check youre basically good to go.

rereading your question I realise I probably misunderstood you but I cba to undo all my precious typing :)

adding something to maybe better adress your question.

What it comes down to is you have plenty of time to prep the stuff, so if you design the setup and system properly it's not that much of hassle to put it all together before a show.

This picture looks like its a setup for 2 guitarists and they included their back-up amps in the wall. all you do is place the mics and maybe do the switching between amps during songs/during breaks. the sound guy does the mixing

Stupid phone. The clean channel is awesome. Bright and clear. The distortion is hilariously bad. It sounds like a pillow is stuffed in front of the speaker. Ive never heard anything quite so bad. Its like a cross between fuzzy, static, and somewhere buried in there you can hear some guitar. Need a distortion pedal and i'll be set never to use the memedrive channel again.

Maybe you should stop posting in every thread about epiphone and finally buy one and actually learn to play. Faggot.

BEHOLD! MY CREATION!

I'll take pics in better light when I get the neck and strings on. Pretty pumped for having one of the most versatile non-synth guitars in existence right now. Can't wait to hear what the new lipstick and 50's style bridge pickup sound like.
>>
>>71801429
whats with the guitar on the right? looks like a jaguar but the top part of the body is different.
>>
>>71811827
That is actually awesome. Is the lipstick and p90 acting a single humbucker or separate pickups?
>>
>>71811827
Hawt AF, I'll make a similar one someday.
I guess you're a Steve Morse fan of some sorts?
>>
>>71811827
God I want it. Are you willing to sell this?
>>
>>71811836
It's a bass VI. A six string bass.
>>
>>71811827
blasphemous and sacrilege. you have defiled it and you shall burn in hell.
>>
>>71811862
They can act as a humbucker or independently.
>>71811871
Nah, I have heard of the guitar though.
>>71811898
Sure, for the right price. But I wouldn't really want to sell it yet. It's kind of my dream guitar. I'm thinking of offering to mod other people's guitars on CL.

How will you play it with a pick without hitting one of those pickups?
>>

Nice, must be incredibly versatile sounding
>>
>>71811827
How easy was this to do?
>>
>>71806472
Why do these music store websites show every part of the guitar but the back of the headstock
>>
>tfw I have an epiphone g400 and and overall pretty happy with it. I'm just kinda asshurt I can't get the action as low as I can on my other guitars.
>>
>>71812753
Why can't it go lower?
>>
>>71812770
It buzzes on the first few frets pretty bad. Everyone I know comments on how low the action is on it already, but it's still a lot higher than I'm used too when compared to my dean and the fender I used to have.
>>
>>71811827
DIY guitars are top tier. Very cool
>>
>>71812127
Eh, I already play over the other pickups without issues.
>>71812568
Some parts were easy, but the hardest part was wiring the master series/parallel switch. Without that the whole project would have been a lot easier, but I love the tones you can get. The most time consuming part was filing the pick guard. While I wouldn't call the project easy, the fact that it was my first mod project shows it was easy enough for anyone to do. Well, the first mod project I started, not the first one I completed.

Pic related is how to wire a master parallel/series switch.

Other less obvious features of the guitar is a control over the humbucker allowing series/parallel/north coil/south coil, and a volume control for the p90 which only is part of the circuit when the pickup is out of phase.
>>
>>71812829
Neck is maybe bowed back? De-tension the strings, loosen the truss rod a little bit (1/2 turn or so at a time), retune and see if it gets better. Keep doing it until the buzz goes away.

Buzzing on the first several frets and then okay after that is usually back-bend in the neck. Okay, then buzzing, then okay again is a forward bend creating a valley.

Once you get rid of the neck bow you can get the action even lower. But it comes at the price of needing more frequent adjustment. Changes in temp and especially humidity change the inertial moment of the wood due to moisture. Long story short, you can get it lower but at some point the little seasonal changes might make it buzz again and you'll get to do this exercise all over.

If you go by Fender's naming scheme you'd say shit like only fender makes whatever shade of black. Everybody makes black guitars, they just don't all make "nightshade deluxe black."

That guitar is fucking hotwheels red.

google ferrari red they're not the same shade you retard
>>

Looks alright to me but you should haggle. Keep in mind a tiesco is really not a very high quality guitar. Nice thing about this one is that it at least has an adjustable truss rod.
>>
>>71813457
Well it's a Strat so what else is there to say? I guess I like the maple fret board but I wouldn't wanna be caught dead with that shade of red on my guitar.

They're just metalfag teens ignore them. Fiesta Red is god tier. I do think it looks better with a mint or parchment pickguard though.

holy shit that's pretty cool looking, i think i might actually get a pickguard like that but i'm not sure if the maple fretboard will compliment it as well but I'm gonna look into it

I'm not really a fan of red guitars either, but the only exception would be a Fender Strat with maple fretboard. jLooks fine to me. I also do like the parchment-colored pickups with white pickguard, don't know why. My strat in Sunfire Orange Flake has the same white pickguard and parchment pickups.

'79 Silverburst owner, as well as owner of two other LP Customs, and i can verify there is a distinct difference in tone compared to other les pauls. Nasally and twangy compared to other Les Pauls, but deep and bell-chimey compared to, say the Fender twang. IB4 tonewood. IB4 git gud, IB4 dadguitar.
