My OCD stemmed from not wanting a plain colored guitar so I rented a Squier surf strat in Sonic Blue for a demo when I was 14, later when I was 16 I found that same model in Surf green and used my money I had saved and bought it. After that I bought a Super Champ in black in early 2015 which coincidentally Fender released 3 FSR Super Champs in Surf Green, Wine Red and Sonic Blue. I returned the black SC and bought the Sonic Blue. I then joined a band playing bass and needed a cab so I went down to guitar center and bought and acoustic 4x10 with the blue stripes and used the blue super champ as a head. After playing a few live gigs I liked how my Amps matched witch led to liking my guitars matching my Amps too.

Tldr; I match Amps and if I can guitars because I like that it looks "connected" and feels like everything fits

I just bought an Epiphone Dot and thought that a spare gig bag I had would be big enough. Well, it's not and now I'm looking for a soft case for it (just for traveling with it).

Any recommendations for gig bags for this thing?
>>

>>71614621
It's a tele someone took a saw to.
>>
>>71614700
Why a gig bag and not a hard shell? Just the price/weight?
>>
>>71614819
Yeah, I was considering it. I was wondering if there was anything that was designed for the body thickness of a semi-hollow electric as I can imagine it bouncing around a bit inside of an acoustic-sized case.

Also worried about the headstock a bit because of the angle, so some kind of angled neck support would be amazing.
>>
>>71614653
I feel like you lucked out, Orange (Color) amps are probably the most common besides black
>>
>>71614871
Pretty much yeah. I'm not against getting a hard shell case for home use but I'd prefer a soft case for regular travel.
>>
>>71614899
>>71614938
If you're worried about support, i'd still just go with the hardcase

>>
>>71611964
Yes, but it's so subtle that it doesn't really matter too much.
,

Some say sustain has a lot to do with good tone, but a misconception is that it has a lot to do with wood but that's not necessarily the case. It's not so much with the type of wood, rather than the amount of it (particularly directly behind the bridge) and the way it's constructed (bolt-on, neck-through, cap, routing for floyd, floyd itself etc), what type of adhesives are used and how wood contacts other wood parts of the guitar.

What makes a 58-60 Les Paul Standard sound so great for example, isn't it's wood so much, rather than the old type of glue which over time has dried out and hardened and almost crystallized, forming a glass-like adhesive contact between the cap, body fretboard and neck, maximizing resonance, thus creating a very desirable tone.

There is a myth floating around for years that all wood for all 58-60 LP standards came from the same tree which isn't true because maple and mahogany trees don't grow that big.The old-time electronics and pickups play a good part too I bet.

I guarantee you, if you take a classic pre-1960 reissue Las Paul, any model, it won't sound exactly like the vintage originals and that's not due to modern wood or new wood types or anything like that, it's modern adhesives which are designed to never dry out and crystallize like that old ones would, or at least not dry out for a very very very long time.

Funny when you think about it, these vintage half-million dollar guitars. What we're primarily paying for is glue.

im using my guitar amp as the studio monitor because i dont have one, it sounds like shit but its a replacement until i can buy a monitor, so im running a guitar cable through the headphone jack to the amp and im using the amp as the interface amplifier
>>

>>
>>71617664

>>
>>71617650
Are you using the headphone output or the Left (presumably mono) output of the interface?

I've had issues mixing stereo outputs and mono inputs with my PA.

>>
>>71617650
Does your amp have an aux input, if so try that. The amps main input won't handle line level signals well.
>>
>>71617650
Can you check on cans? Make sure it's not the amp not liking the feed?

>>71617926
probably, just playing my guitar without the interface straight through the amp and it sounds like its supposed to
>>
>>71617944
Try pulling the lead a fraction of the way out of the headphone jack. Sometimes you can find a sweet spot where you'll get the right signal coming out.

So in a few months I'll probably buy an electric bass. You guys got any book recommendations for learning music theory or for techniques and stuff? I love learning from books. Any bass tips are also welcome, everything helps. I'm into Jazz, Funk, Blues, Metal, Ambient/Library music, Rap, and a bunch of of other stuff, and eventually I'd like to gig around, if only for fun.
>>
>>71617944
Probably, the headphones are a stereo signal, your amp expects mono. Or like I mentioned check if your amp has an aux input, this is meant to take non-guitar input, and they will often handle a stereo signal
>>
This turned out to be fucking great. Sounds excellent with an EMG and a good pair of phones. Only reason I have it though is because i'm poor and had to sell all of my real gear recently.

I honestly couldn't be happier with that amp. The clean is great, better then the 6505+ in my opinion. The shared eq is fine with me, I had a dark terror before it so feature wise it was a huge Improvment. The thing breathes fire though and you can tell it was made for metal heads. Reverb is really nice but I only use it on the clean channel. Its really well built and I think I could tap dance on it and not even scratch it.the power soak is dope also for home practice. I live in an apartment and on the 1 watt setting its just perfect. Defiantly try it and see which you like better. I probably won't ever need another amp myself.

Metal is objectively the hardest genre to play after jazz. It takes the most skill and technique.

But faggots who play open chords and slow boring shit will still argue that their indie-faggot shit is hard to play
>>
>>71621756
This has got to be bait. No one can be this retarded. The fact that you don't even know who he is, and you are straight up calling him shit just shows how much of a retard you are. Just following trends without a single thought of your own. Yes, sounds like you, given from the impression that I got from this comment. Then again, this may be bait, so I guess this is your (You).

is women playing guitar the ultimate way of detecting gays?
>>
>>71621929
Music is subjective and people like what they want.

But from a skill and technique standpoint, metal is the hardest, most physically challenging genre to play. You can't just be some beginner and play a difficult metal song, whereas you can pick up a guitar and play pop within 5 minutes.

I'm still conflicted whether he was being a dick or something cause I recall Testament had just done their set prior and it was pushing 100 degrees that afternoon. And it wasn't a "pay to meet and greet" sort or deal, just an ESP tent he hung out at so after over an hour of sweaty edgelords I made it quick to take the autograph, shake his hand, say a few things and bail cause tons or people were also there killing time in gushing over him and bringing multiple things to sign

>>
>>71622060
Nah. No one just "picks up" jazz or classical guitar in a day. The theory knowledge required in order to be considered even a competent jazz musician is more than most metal musicians will ever learn in their entire lives, while the technique required to play classical well takes months to develop.
>>
What else is there to play besides metal that's fun?

Everything is else is just strumming barre chords

Seriously tho, I never said that the big 4 are bad. I only said that Alex Skolnick is the best thrash metal guitarist after Dave Mustaine. My problem is that you are calling him shit without even knowing who he is, that makes you look ignorant, and stupid. Gary Holt is a badass motherfucker, he is being wasted on slayer. Exodus is one of the best thrash metal bands no doubt. However, I prefer Alex Skolnick's playing, he is like a jazz version of Marty Friedman. My favorite thrash band is Megadeth ffs(and as I recall, they are a part of the big 4). The one acting like a sheep at the moment, seems to be you, "HURR NOT A PART OF THE BIG 4, AND IT DOESNT HAVE GORY HALT???? TO THE DUMPSTER IT GOES". Without even giving it a try, like an ignorant person would do. Oh well, I got baited again. Here's another (You) for you, my boy.

I'm just speaking from my own experience. I'm not a country, blues, bluegrass, punk, rockabilly, ska, etc. guitarist. I dabbled in some blues rock stuff before getting into metal several years ago, and taught myself some classical guitar around the time I got serious about metal and put together a metal band of my own. I've been studying jazz almost exclusively for the last seven years or so. I'm sure transitioning into the other genres I mentioned takes a fair degree of skill development too.

Have you ever heard a metal autist try to play the blues? It's somehow even worse than when your typical blooz lawyer does it.

Metal players look at a tab and 'play' it but they lack nuance and feel and typically can't play thru a clean amp unless it's some arpeggiated bullshit clean intro.

Even typical loose indie-punk and fuzzrock bullshit requires a certain approach and feel that metal players just hear as shittiness and can't replicate authentically.

My friend, the difference between the Super Champ and a Blackface Princeton is like comparing champagne to carbonated piss. The price is there for a reason. Would recommend the blue limited edition, has a 10" Celestion Blue speaker fitted and takes pedals better.
