Outside of Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica, Exodus and Anthrax, no one gives a shit about thrash and other thrash bands.

It's because those are the ones that made it popular, they perfected it and they are the ones people want.
Any other band that does thrash is just ripping them off and copying them. Modern thrash bands are cringe as hell because they're just trying to be what has been around for 30 years.

Nope, I'm selling mine. Maybe I'll give Schecter a try, they seem like good value for the price

But if you don't dig on Fender, the Schecter Sun Valley series looks promising. I know the fact that they're marketed to "shredders" is cheesy as fuck but the designs and overall concept is a guilty pleasure for me.

Yes. Thats why its best to hand it off and let someone else do that. You either tweak the mix a million times and always are unhappy with it, or, you miss mistakes and mix it sounding like ass because you think its perfect just because you did it.

What do I do if I wear the bridge/nut too low? Replacing the nut or bridge would just be a waste of money

the real problem in a guitar with no truss rod is neck warp from the tension of the strings over time. Replacing a nut or bridge isn't too expensive but on a cheap guitar it's not worth it unless you have a sentimental attachment to the instrument.

This model has been discontinued. Mine is basically brand new, it still has the plastic on the pickups and everything. The one pictured here has a good bit of flame but mine doesn't have any at all really. I'd like to get $475 shipped so I don't know if you'd really be interested or not.

>>
>>71624121
I'll tell you what, if you're interested come back here when you have the money and ask for me and I'll talk to you again then.

I'm going to be honest with you I just bought that guitar to see if playing an 8 string was interesting and none of my amps will fuck with the low string. With 8 strings you pretty much have to have a Axe-Fx II (or some other modeling shit) to compensate for the low string, a traditional high gain guitar amp won't cut it.

>>71624170
How does it sound? I played one at a local guitar center and it sounded a bit strange and a lot more bassy
>>
>>71624285
It sounds fine until you get to the low string then all my amps fart out. If I were to give you any advice it would be to just get a 7 if you can't afford a modeling amp. I played it for a couple of months but it's been leaning up against a chair in the living room since November so it's time for it to go to a new home.
>>
>>71624316
Lowering the gain or adjusting eq do anything?
>>
>>71624170
Stop buying shitty rock "high" gain amp.
I have a dual dark 50 and my 8 strings is growling. The amp was design with that in mind.
It was a REALLY close call with the randall satan, also created for 8 string and drop c in mind

>>
>>71624346
For the record I did not type desu. autocorrect ig wants to be a weeb
>>
>>71624330
No, it's the frequency range of the low string itself that's the problem. None of my amps were designed to keep up with that low of a string, that's why it sounds so farty.
>>71624346
At this point I've moved on and I'm not interested in playing it anymore. The only reason I bought the guitar in the first place was to see if the 8 string idea jelled with my playing, inspired ideas, etc. and it didn't. The experiment failed, sometimes that's what happens.

This is actually one of my problems with 8 stings, you have to go buy special shit to fuck with the low string. That's why it didn't work for me. I'm not interested in wasting time trying to find/buy an amp that works, upgrading pickups, etc. I've got songs to write and shows to play, life's too short to fuck around with gear that's not turning you on right out of the box.

Metallica barely plays thrash anymore
There just isn't a need for fast paced music for today's kids
And the average music listener, not player, is going to appreciate Arctic monkeys three chords and a solo more than megadeth sweeping and arpeggios

Honestly, just save your money man. You don't NEED the 8-string right now. Stop wasting money on cheap guitars and buy something nice. Doesn't have to be new.

Especially with an 8-string. There is so many places to cut corners to make it attractively priced. I'm going to take a wild guess and say you can't setup a guitar yourself.

Depends on what you like. I have 12s and 11s on all of my guitars, 12s for the ones that get played in D standard and drop C more often, and 11s on my E standard/drop D guitars.

10s just feel flimsy and it's easier for me to play faster with a thicker string.

I have this one, but it's not a Les Paul Jr, it's a custom/prophecy. Do you mean melodeath or old-school swedish death if it's the latter then yeah but the amp is more important if its the former then I would say get medium or low output passives from seymour duncan or somebody for smoother leads

Also don't get a les paul for low tunings, I have mine in C standard and it requires suspension bridge cables to give it enough tension and the G string warbles

What I think they mean is that it can emulate the headroom of a 25-watt, 50-watt and 100-watt amp. It doesn't make sense to have energy transfer in a stompbox. It just requires 9V

DESU I think tube amps are kind of a meme. If you get a solid state with a quality speaker and blind test 99/100 people wont be able to tell you which is which.

All these youtube vides show the fender mustang with an 8 inch speaker vs the hotrod with 2 x12 inch speakers and then get all excited about how the hot rod sounds great and the solid state sounds tinny and whatever.

When I do a true same speaker modeling/ ss / vs tube you really can't tell or if you can tell a difference you can't really say one is better than the other.

Yeah, that seems a better idea now that you think of it,

By setting up a guitar you mean settings wise on the amp?

>>71623893
I opened it up and it has Eminence Legend speakers

>>71627929
Probably, I don't know. All my dad said was that of something along the lines of custom made or something, and from the looks of it, the inside looks like a diy project

>Asshole bassplayer left
>Going to give up spot as guitarist to play bass
>3rd time I've done this in my life fuck it it must be fate

What is the loudest for the cheapest I can get? Some Peavey stuff? I used to gig with a 4x10 and a smaller 15 inch black widow cab on top.

For cheap basses I'm looking at Rondo, I suppose. I've had good basses from them but their guitars sucked ass (low end SX).

Please help, I don't need great tone, I need volume (for now)

I fuckin feel you dude.
the bassist that formed the band im in
doesnt do shit, and spent all the presale money and literally had to sell weed to get it back.
He broke his hand and never did shit to write but still wants full control of the band because its "his band".

I had to play bass too for a show. fuckin bassists man
>>
>>71633220
Yeah fuck 'em. My brother plays bass but he lives 4 goddamn hours away.

Are Ibanez ATK's still around? Those things were awesome and cheap.

probably the coolest LP ive ever seen

kids, i need a recommendation for a good stand to record my amp into my audio interface (and also a good pop filter for vox if you can) like a desk stand or s/t. Problem I keep running into is reviews like "won't hold a mic of X weight or greater" and my AKG P220 is 1.17 lbs.

:+)

Based.

I've got a feeling you're not going to be hearing much of that high E on the bridge pickup. So much for that famous Japanese quality.
