8/10 only thing I would change is the reverb pedal. I really don't think those sound good at all, definitely the weak link in your pedalboard.

Their reverbs sound cheap, digital in a bad way. Usable but they're kind of in an obsolete class of pedals imo now that you can get studio quality stuff like the Neunaber Audio reverbs for not much more.

Does playing guitar and singing at the same time come naturally?

Cause I can't do it.
>>
>>71570485
i'm not sure. i never really sing but i can still do it. how long have you been playing? i find that it comes with very ingrained muscle memory.

there are some weird rhythms i find hard to sing and play at the same time. as cliche as it is, come as you are is one probably. i can get it if i practice for a bit but it's not as natural as strumming
>>
>>71570524
Long enough that I should be able to do it. Doesn't matter what it is. Could be a simple E/A/G/D/C etc. chord and my non fretting hand will still try to sync with the vocal rhythm.

I think there's a lapse in my brain or something
>>
>>71570334
A hall of Fame is $150 new, how is it triple the price? I would say it's even more versatile since every setting on the immerse is top quality and usable while the reverbs on the hall of fame are just OK, opinion of course, but come on now dude...The difference in quality is huge.

It's like comparing your Strymon pedal to the TC electronics equivalent. Totally different league.

dude the sounds on that pedal are pretty specific to certain genres like ambient and shit. doesn't seem too versatile to me but that might just be my opinion. but yeah it's obviously higher quality, i just don't know if the difference is as great as you're making it out to be. what genres do you normally play?

Treat your bass like you would a guitar or piano when writing, melody is what makes music interesting. You can worry about restructuring whatever you come up with to strong beats and root notes later.

Nah, that's just what everyone that reviews one seems to play. Check out the Spring reverb, hall and plate settings on it, definitely not just an ambient pedal. I don't own one (I have a Strymon Bigsky) but I can recognize a quality pedal. If you're happy with your HOF that's all that matters though...

I play everything, from jazz to dark ambient.

Because the tuning pegs slip easily on really cheap sitars. I had one and sold it for that reason. I assume you're talking the ones on Ebay and sites like that for under $300, I bet you would have to spend around $600+ to get something decent.

They're definitely something you should play in person to make sure it's stable.

Pro Tools. Ableton and some other DAWs are more aimed at midi, synth, and virtual instrument stuff and the layout and workflow reflect that. Pro Tools is much better for editing waveforms, which is a huge part of recording real instruments. Of course you can do good work in either DAW, but people who track instruments tend to prefer the feel of Pro Tools

yeah I agree the Tech 21 is versatile in its sound and is an excellent di but I like the Darkglass Electronics Microbes B7K just a little bit more because you can get a tube sound from them and they have a good od pedal too, the Darkglass Electronics Microtubes Bass Overdrive. Not shilling Darkglass cause the Fulltone OCD is another good option. I just hate that their pricey.

Stuff like Tech 21 bass driver and MXR M80 Bass di are legit one pedal does it all on a budget type buy.

can Tech 21 character series do what their bass driver does? yeah the SVT is good but both the Leeds and Oxford sound dope on bass.

I'm selling my Big Sky to get an Industrialelectric RM-1N

I've figured my tone out a little more and I prize sounds breaking up in clean amps, like my Deluxe Reberb, and the Strymon is too much clean. the RM-1N has two post and pre gain knobs and gets real weird which I like.

anyone have an RM-1N that can weigh in? the youtube videos by and large blow but it was pitched to me like a DBA Reverberation Machine/ Caroline Meteore on 11 which I like a lot.
>>

compressors
boosts
overdrives
distortions
fuzzes
wah/envelope filters
volume pedals
reverbs
delays
various modulation (e.g. phaser, flanger, chorus, etc)
loopers
pitch shifters
noise gates
a lot of sui generis pedals (e.g. Boss Slow Gear, Hologram Dream Sequence, 60 hz hum suppressors, etc)
probably a lot more I'm forgetting

Not a right angle, he had it completely backwards. He's made a few ridiculous fuckups like that, and he always tries to play it off like he's still superior since he owns up to his mistakes right away and corrects them. Which I guess is something.
>>
>>71573585
I haven't yet, which now that you mention it would be a good call to try before I commit on a sale. It's either hawk the Big Sky for the RM-1N and a looper or ditch my Analogman Bi-chorus for the RM-1N. I picked up a Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl Mk2 a couple days back and haven't decided if that fully replaces the Bi-chorus quite.

I got a Timeline for weird ambient stuff so in my mind I'd be losing the swell/shimmer settings but everything else I got covered in one shape or another. I would certainly pick up another clean reverb down the line, maybe an EQD piece, but we'll see.

I'm at this immensely dangerous point in my gear-career in that I've finally enough equipment that any odd pedal that strikes my fancy I can afford by selling a similar one on my board, losing out maybe $30-50 per trade. Awful power, that.

What is next for guitar playing?

If you go on insta there's literally tens of thousands of 12 year old kids who can play guitar like Hendrix and John Mayer. It seems like the only way to move forward with guitar is to embrace electronic music and minimalism, shredding, licks, insane solos etc are out. When I see someone doing a guitar solo in 2017 I roll my eyes, even the guitar solo in this video is more interesting than 99% of instagram guitarists

>>
>>71580674
>>71580668
I didn't imply metal was dead but a lot of you guys worry so much about techniques and theory etc when all you really need to do is focus on making simple songs, not worrying so much about standing out as a guitarist.

Like look at Earth...the guitar playing is so simple, there is no shredding involved. It's just got something about it that makes it interesting. Anybody can play like Carlson, it just seems like he was able to find something that really worked for him and focused in on it.

Fantastic song btw

rhythm + vocals, yes, just as long as you're comfortable with both sections individually. for the most part, all your attention should be focused on the vocal melody/lyrics, while the strumming pattern is carried out automatically via muscle memory. if it's a new song, you'll need to periodically switch your attention to your guitar for a few milliseconds whenever there's a chord change; thankfully, most chord changes correspond with a minor pause in the vocal melody, giving you the space to make this change.

lead + vocals, no. the brain is unable to split itself in this way. musicians who fulfil both functions in a band tend to alternate between the two, using a simple or no lead line whenever the vocal line is complex and vice versa.

Ace Frehley can do simple leads and keep singing actually
And stop singin in the middle of a word to play a chord
He can go to both extremes

Probably going to at some point, but right now I just want to get it working. Gonna start drilling the holes for the pickup right now.
