I listened to pic related a year ago just so i could be in the loop with /mu/ essentials, and after my first listen i thought it was whatever and added Chicago and Jacksonville on a playlist
But i recently revisited this album and realized how amazing it is. I know this sounds really vague, but i truly do love everything about Illinois. I think its the first time an album has made me cry multiple times.
any recommendations for something similar

Why the fuck would you only listen to an album once before abandoning it
Are Pig Destroyer considered hot topic tier "fauxgrind"? Cause if they are, fucking dropped.
Who cares what other people think of something if you like it

PD is simply a punk band
What's /mu/'s opinion on double albums? Usually I think it's just sort of a waste of a runtime and that the whole project would benefit from being condensed a bit, but sometimes it's justified.
Also, post double albums where one side is clearly better than the other.
The Future > The Plow that Broke the Plains
I didn't even know this was a double album even though I've listened to it like 10 times.
I like albums that take as long as they need to say what they want to say. If that means two discs, so be it. Dense electronic stuff like Saw 2 or Tired Sounds Of... makes me weary if I attempt single-sitting listens, though.
And I'll have to go for the side of Deathconsciousness that has Eternal Worm and Bloodhail, which are the best songs Dan Barrett has ever written.

I guess that's what makes a double album good.

the main thing i remeber pitchfork for is that one shitty review of the fragile. it wasn't shit because it got a 2, it's shit because that guy doesn't know how to review music.

Nah. Looks like he is a tape trader. There used to be a site in the early 2000s that had a bunch of live indierock videos but the quality was piss poor, so his stuff isn't ripped from there. These are of a several times dubbed vhs quality for the post part.
