I dont listen to metal since I was 18. What's the best "it's actually good" metal band similar to Blind Guardian? It's ok if it's darker and a bit more experimental. But I want that "epic/wizardy/strange land" feel. Not too much, it doesn't have to be cartoony, ... like, dungeon synth but less scary it's ok.

a bit long one from my friend
>be a bass player
>look for band
>found guitarist, keyboard player and drummer
>drummer says nope after an hour making random excuse
>find another drummer after a month, hes no good but has potential
>improvise for 6 months since music is ok
>at some point keyboard player says hes good but hes playing same shit over and over, getting tired of him
>he gets sick and has not much time because of college and midterms
>quits
>i didnt even notice
>fast forward 6 months, we are recording 4 tracks overnight wednesday -> thursday
>i dont want to do that overnight in the middle of the week but guitarist doesnt give a fuck since he doesnt have a job
>it wasnt good idea, drummer half asleep
>recorded bass and guitar in next weeks
>guitarist watches mixing tutorials for 2 days and wants to mix it
>says he has recorded album once in the studio and he knows this shit
>i laugh at him and he mocks me that ive never been to studio
>explain to him how fucking retarded he is and that ive been doing music in DAW for about 5 years and it would be better if he left it for me
>he does it anyway, in audacity
>mfw, sounds really awful
>ask him to compare it to any commercial album
>he doesnt hear the difference
>ask him to show me good mixed albums
>he doesnt know what it means even if i explain it to him with my examples

Everything else below that will eventually damage your records on a long term.
