>i cant tell if country music is satire or not
Not to spoil anything, but it half is. A lot of pop country had a tongue in cheek exaggeration of the lives of the audience and the audience is in on the joke. Country is either 1) completely sincere 2) a straight up parody 3) an exaggerated/stylized version of reality for comedic effect or to add dramatic weight in a song or 4) bitterly sarcastic. But the difference between country and folk/indie folk, is that it's purposely very obvious which of the 4 it's going for.
>>72041241
I don't think the audience is actually in on the joke, I'm pretty sure a majority of the audience takes it very seriously
>>72041017
Alan Jackson is great. Dudes been doing traditional country his entire career while mainstream country has gone through every stupid fad you can think of, and been one of its biggest artists for decades.
Call this song stupid all you want, but Hank Sr., Johnny Cash, and all the other classic country hipster darlings have songs that are just as "stupid." They're party songs, something you're obviously not familiar with.
Obviously there is a ton of music coming out from metal/hardcore/post-hardcore bands, but is the scene kind of dying?
I live in Chicago and I used to play in a touring band from 2010-2013. After I quit the band, I stopped going to shows because I got too busy.
The impression I get from looking at the new music coming out and watching live videos on YouTube is that heavy music has lost it's cultural relevance, and it's been replaced by hip-hop.
Here in Chicago, we had a ton of really good heavy bands from 2006-2014. Most of them broke up in 2014, and it seems like the local scene is pretty dead now.
What's your take on it?
More metal albums are being released than ever, i'd say it's very alive.
metal is the most relevant genre of guitar music

Like I said, there's a ton of new metal music coming out, but it seems like nobody really gives a shit.
Like it's over-saturated. When metalcore/deathcore was commercialized for a bit back between 2006-2011 and it was on MTV/Fuse and shit like that, people were flooding out to shows. Local and national shows. I even used to see normies going to those shows.
I see pictures of my friends who are still touring and it looks like the venues have gotten shittier and less people are showing up.

Stuff like Animals As Leader/Plini/Sithu Aye/Chon is somewhat relevant, but I don't really consider that "heavy music" I guess.
"wtf you listen to that shit?" albums
it's good really

Hey /mu/, today we're gonna be making an album. This time the theme is "the 90's". It doesn't matter the genre you do.
As usual, quality control is in place. If you want critique on your track, let others know and we'll give you input on what to fix. All skill levels are allowed though.
Dubs = Track title
Trips = Album title and track title
37 and 84 = album cover
Track submissions are due at 9 PM EST.
Good luck!
