What have you guys been listening to?
I powered through The Van Pelt's discography. I think you might appreciate them if you're into La Dispute and Capn Jazz.

>tfw you hate some music so much you watch it over and over on youtube just to try to force it on other people so they realize how shitty it is too
I hate all the recommendations I get, I just click them now to make a point.

YouTube still wants me to listen to Tycho.
>>74983905
I get the streamlined popular recommendations that I hate, but if I click on one it takes me down a rabbit hole of what is coming after them. I can see the artists they are pushing. The future is scary.
why was early pop/rock music so terrible and bad?
>>74983860
It wasn't, it was beautiful. It's just your ears have adjusted to noise and you're too immature to appreciate it. You'll be ok, hang in there bub.
>>74984091
I'm trying to think of something good about it and all that comes to mind is the harmonies, which only got better as the genre "grew up" anyway. (even though it didn't really grow up that much t. scarruffi)

What an incredibly ignorant thought process that is
are there more albums like this? I also enjoyed Music for the Mases but that's it. I need more rock music with dancey electronic elements
>>74983842
its called synthpop
>>74983842
>>74983854
I didn't like most synthpop albums I've heard
Violator doesn't sound cheesy, it even has a dark vibe
I honestly don't get why almost all bands from the NWOBHM died out, they made great music man.
>>74983810
Crowded markets and most plebs cared only for Iron Maiden. The common attitude among the casuals are, "If it sounds like Maiden, I'd rather listen to Maiden," so most of those bands died in obscurity.
A shame since most of those sound distinct.

>died out

It turned into thrash metal less than 5 years after it was made, not too hard to see why it died out
What are your favorite albums by him?
Do you think he's an underrated or overrated musician?
Do you prefer his pop, or more experimental work?
For me, it's a toss up between this or Eureka. This I think contains some pretty phenomenal song structures and pretty guitar work, but Eureka is way heavier on the emotional side. Plus it's more catchy.

Tainted Love, Always Something There To Remind Me, I Want Candy - all covers
I wouldn't really consider this a good cover, but at the time I thought it was an original song. The original song is by Imogen Heap/Frou Frou. If anything it got me really got me into Imogen Heap/Frou Frou.
