I can tell you this objectively, there are TWO major problems contributing to the stagnation of this board....over abundance of generals, and lazy moderation, and the two things go hand in hand

Mods don't see this as a board worth putting more attention into, because if they did they would see that they need to regulate the useful generals from the ones that don't have any useful purpose other than catering to tiny pockets of the fandom, on this already tiny pocket of the fandom

People say this board is just dead now because people hate MLP, but I can tell you I've stopped coming here a lot since around 2015 not because I stopped having interest in MLP in the slightest, but because this board has become shittier in quality, and I know I'm not the only one who feels that way

3. Old episodes can't really be discussed because what is there to say?
4. We can't get new people into the board because all some hater has to say is "The show's shit now!" and we'll have no argument. Who'd sign on for two seasons of gold, two seasons of good-ish, a somewhat Millerised season, and Miller seasons to ignore?
5. We could talk about fan content, but fimfic general would rather cry and bitch aimlessly about Displaced being a thing than promote or like anything more interesting than the displaced circlejerk.
6. There's Fallout Equestria, which slowly died once the story actually finished and Littlepip 100% fixed the world everypony else was having fun writing in.
7. The board has too many hasdrones eager to shout down and bitch at people that criticize shitty episodes.

HOW CAN WE SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

A. Start promoting good fanmade content. We're bronies, damn it. By the time season 2 rolled around, we had more fanmade content made than the Sonic, Star Trek, and Star Wars fandoms combined. Jim Miller can fuck the show up all he wants, we'll be having fun with our fics, our animations, our songs, and our friendships.
B. Pretty much give up on /mlp/ and find something new. One person leaves every few weeks anyway. Go on, glimfags, show me the views an art site has and tell me it means something.
C. Campaign to get Jim Miller fired and replaced by someone that will put effort into writing and directing MLP and not just see a paycheck "For little girls". When he's gone, a message is sent to the new guy: Don't fuck up.
D. Pull a bunch of new people into this fucking mess to artificially fix the problem that is the board's stagnation and the show's suckiness pushing people out.

another thing is my lord is there alot of cyoa threads. hell i dont remember those even existing at all. there were story threads sure, but most of those were an over arching theme that had multiple posted within it, with only a few stories starting separate of getting popular enough to make its own thread til it was done.

i dunno besides that all i can notice is LESS threads for spamming pictures of specific ponies.

personally i feel like with half the threads being fetish threads with niche audiences or on-going cyoas/stories it feels kinda stagnated if nothing already existing isnt something of interest to you.

We knew almost of alicorns beyond Celestia and Luna, we could only speculate what they were really like or how powerful they were beyond little breadcrumbs here and there that were dropped in.

Dragons were a mystery
Changelings were mysterious but threatening creatures, who again, we knew little about save for having an ambitious ruler

There was just a lot more to discuss that lead to thought provoking big ideas. The show was good for setting the ground work for such things earlier.

Now, those things have mostly been filled or answered, and to many it was in an unsatisfactory way. The images and ideas they imagined of a proper answer are not satisfied, and make their ideas more attractive than what the show has done. That's before any of the questionable stuff that creates massive divides in the fandom.

That's not true. A good example about this is the finale, I didn't like it at all, it was completely forgettable, and I couldn't care less about it. But I've talked about the finale quite a few times, and some people who liked it gave me good points to defend it. They didn't change my mind, and I didn't change theirs, but discussion isn't about convince the other, and I think that it was interesting to see a different POV.

Likewise, although I. Fucking. Hate. Season 6, I liked a few episodes and one of them was the MEME FACES episode, because it was really refreshing to see an episode where they all were friendly to each other. When I've talked about that episode, most people who didn't like it used as the only argument to consider it shit the MEME FACES. I wouldn't call that a good argument.

Of course this is cherry picking, I've had tons of conversations with people who defended the show screaming "fuck off Faustfag", and tons of conversations with people who agreed with me about which episodes were terrible, but I think that generalizing those experiences would be unfair.

Again, I'm not saying "don't argue guise, let's be friends :)" This isn't about turning the board into a hugbox, and this isn't about not talking about those things we disagree on. But there's no point in trying to discuss anything if before even starting both sides already think that the other side is full of idiots, and this thread proves that that's exactly what happens here.
