Do you object to all sorts of rolling in general, or is the problem specifically with quests with an a/b/c option set and little flexibility in player control?

Would you >qetquest if a quest used traditional prompts but also used roles to influence success rates?

ie: a ball is thrown at you.
Players suggest to catch the ball after debating the merits of dodging.
roll 1-0 for how good you are at catching things.

I've been thinking of running a quest like that and my only real concern is that the roll locks in a choice before I would start writing the result, which might discourage last second suggestions that win over players. But if it'd be dismissed offhand for >getquest I'd probably do something else entirely.

My issue with gets is that it can be a shitpost that causes something bad to happen. As for RNG, it could work in place of a dice roll, but so can a dice roll. There's also the choice between something happening for a (hopefully) intelligent reason and happening because of random chance.

So, I've taken most of your advice and moved it from a stereotypical Anon MC to having /mlp/ choose race/class. I have not, however decided to do the Breeziebarian stuff, though, due to the fact that it's probably something that deserves its own dedicated CYOA tee bee aich. So, how does this racial lineup sound?
