Reddit sucks because of the voting system, controversial topics are downvoted so nobody ever sees them, while popular opinions are upvotes to the front of the site, which is what a lot of casual readers look at.

If you talk about how you weigh 450 pounds, but you've lost 10 pounds in a year, you're upvoted and praised, but if you talk about having a son who weighs 280 and he just gained 30 pounds, you're downvoted and attacked for fat shaming, even if you made the post to try to get help for your obese son.

On 4chan, users may not give a shit about your son and may even just tell you to kill him (or yourself) to save food for everyone else, but at least they're free to share their opinions without having their post practically removed from view
