First off, Night Delivery.
I believe that the reason that Chilly is getting raped by monsters every night in Night Delivery isn't just because she wants the monster dick, but it's actually because she desperately wants to be the damsel in distress. Unfortunately for her it's taken a long time for Load to become her knight in shining armor so most of the scenarios that the night set up were wasted since her savior would never come.

Second, Shooting Stars.
I think that ponies actually do have souls. Do you guys remember when Fruit bought life insurance for his party and Flo got eviscerated? The insurance mare was able to bring Flo back and when Dullahan was killed the first time, she was able to bring him back at a discount because the soul gem that Dullahan's soul was housed in didn't get destroyed so she didn't have to retrieve his soul and instead only had to bring back his mechanical body.
Now also remember that the ponies being soulless was only mentioned by the crazy mare that made Sejor's new body and the replacement engine for the flying city. She also said that satyrs shouldn't be able to exist while Halley has been a main stay for much of the quest and Nina is the daughter of 2 satyrs, so the science mare is clearly wrong about satyrs meaning that she could be wrong about a lot of things. Also the Elan, Elen, whatever Dieana is have a spirit from a deceased one of their tribe bound to them unless their horn breaks like Dieana. Well the Elan... Deer-pones were normal ponies transformed by the rot, meaning that they are still ponies, meaning that the deer-pones at least have souls.
So unless the Flo we met at the river is long gone and we will never get to know her and current Flo is a completely different individual who only mimics original Flo, I believe that ponies in Shooting Stars Actually have souls and that the Science mare Fruit met was just blowing smoke up his ass.

Your theory was along the lines of what I was thinking when I said that. I like that things like "ponies don't have souls" were put out there for the players to think about, if they wanted to.

As far as CYOAs are concerned, I think it's a good way of managing worldbuilding and lore without getting bogged down in it, intentional or not.

It is, the valley is split equally between the five principalities. The mountains north and around it are technically Craglands, but unclaimed by the cities. Disputes are solved to convenience of the closest prince(ss).
The last time there was a noticeable feud between two or more princes was roughly two hundred years before the start of TNL, during the start of the Fourth Era, and that ended in a mock war of politics that somehow (historians still debate exactly what happened) ended with the Craglands seceding from the eastern union of lands.

I was going to go with the colorbugs being unique to Chrysalis' hive and it's specific circumstances, myself. Something like each hive's fully healthy appearance being related to their environment, or at the very least just being not so gaudy.

Going by that idea I figure what happened with Chryssi's hive was they had their individuality and need for love suppressed for so long that once they figured out how to get past it the love magic basically overloaded them and made them 200% special as fuck to compensate.
