I liked it
Pretty basic, but any spike episode that isn't shit is worth appreciating.

Ember is hot as fuck.

Its annoying when Twilight lets her friends almost die despite being a super powerful magic princess horse. I was hoping for a joke about how Twilight could have just teleported to the scepter/laserbeamed all the traps away/telefragged Garble etc. but as usual she forgets she's magic when the writers need someone else to step up. You can only tell yourself "she'd have stepped in if things got serious" so many times before it starts to ring hollow.

Twilight and Rarity following them around was funny though, the little gags and stuff were well executed and pretty simple, and the overall plot was too. They made the right decision keeping the story straightforward. The episode felt a little short because not that many things actually happened in it, but if they had tried to fit more in it would have ended up too rushed.

Twilight is cute when she's excited about nerd shit. Rarity didn't do much but Tabitha is so good at voiceacting that even the couple half lines she got were great. Spike was good in an episode about him for once. He got to do important things and be a positive example rather than constantly embarrass himself for no reason, and he's a lot more enjoyable to watch like this. I'd say I hope it continues and he gets developed out of his hole, but I doubt the status quo will actually change. Still, it was nice to see.

Overall 8/10 episode, but I can't see myself rewatching it much. Maybe just some Ember scenes.
