So right now there's 4 threads up pretty much asking the same question
>>15498122
>>15504822
>>15506531
>>15507133
And someone posted in one of them saying we should just make a Sticky saying what to start with, kinda like the one /fit/ has. I posted in two of them saying I'm all for making a simple recommendation image that lists good starting points, but I want some input from you guys. So far I want to at least cover
>Gundam
>Macross
>Patlabor
>Dynamic Pro stuff
>A general Real Robot section
>A general Super Robot section
>A section for /m/anga
>Maybe Super Sentai and Kamen Rider too
Listing 3-5 good starting points for each series with a short synopsis for each show. For stuff like Macross/Patlabor I'd probably explain the timelines for them and differences between movies and such. If you guys have any suggestions feel free to name them
As for what I was thinking of putting up there, here's what I had so far
Gundam
>Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 (With a blurb explaining the difference between the TV and movie versions)
>G Gundam
>Gundam X
>Gundam 00
>Gundam Build Fighters
Macross
>SDF TV
>DYRL
>Plus
>Frontier
Patlabor
>Just a breakdown of what makes up the Movie/TV Universes
Dynamic Pro
>Getter Robo Armageddon
>Shin Vs Neo
>Koutetsushin Jeeg
>Shin Mazinger
Real Robots
>Votoms
>Layzner
>Nadesico
>Full Metal Panic
>Fafner
Super Robots
>Ideon
>Giant Robo
>Gaogaigar
>The Big O
>Gun X Sword
I realize that it's impossible to match everyone's tastes, but I feel that it's a decent starting point to work off of.
Also gonna post some old charts because sure, why not?
Good old meme charts
And that's all I have lying around it seems. Feel free to post opinions on the list in >>15511558
Every single one of their dumb ass questions could be answered through Google anyways. In fact, it takes extra fucking time to post a thread here and get replies, not to mention the amount of shitposting that you get in addition to earnest replies. It's much easier to have opinions spoon-fed to you, though.
>>15511646
It's not my fault that the posting quality on this board has taken a bit of a nosedive in the last few years, I just want to make an image to point people in the right direction.
>>15511583
I've always loved how all of those are either taken out of context or just gags, except wing, that scene is that gay
>Zengar
>>15511853
You have to realize that image is a decade old back when Daizengar was still the proper translation before it was settled on Dygenguar

What we need are comprehensive charts for the big franchises. We had one for Gundam, but threads about that chart now devolve into trolling. Shame on you, /m/, for turning such a cherished resource into a piece of shit to sling around.
OP, you seem cool and well meaning, but I am not satisfied with an /m/ sticky/guide listing only starting points. I want to see comprehensive franchise guides (and I will help with them if I am called to it) because no one else will build them.
>>15511890
I can try making something like that for Patlabor using the same model of that Gundam chart. I'd probably remove the Pros/Cons section since that's paelrt of the reason why the Gundam one got shitposted so hard.
>Production Order
Here's your sticky.
>>15511558
>starting mazinger with shin mazinger
what the fuck are you doing
>>15511583
Why is there no "im about to do something despicable Amuro"sub in the CCA one?
We don't need a sticky, just don't respond to questions that could easily be answered with a less than five second Google search. In all my life I never had any problem figuring out where to start with anything, except for maybe comic books. You can honestly expect people to do this themselves, this is supposed to be a site for 18 year olds and up (which is considered adulthood by a lot of countries), they shouldn't need diapers anymore.
Surely there's a better way to deal with people who're too stupid to figure out how to watch robot cartoons.

Well where would you tell someone unfamiliar with the genre to start? Toeizinger is 92 episodes which isn't really easy for someone new to digest, and Mazinkaiser expects you to have some familiarity with the original and Great Mazinger.
I guess SKL works too, but it's a bit too different from the rest of the Mazinger animes.
>>15512717
Like >>15512700 said Production order is the best, but people just don't seem to get that.
>>15512696
I agree, all charts should have pros/cons removed in lieu of plot and production data. Maybe next to the side FAQ, have a ranking set by an /m/ poll?

>Well where would you tell someone unfamiliar with the genre to start?
You're supposed to read literally all of his manga first because the anime fail to properly convey the genius of Nagai's works. Same goes for Ishikawa.
Does anyone have a copy of the Nagai and Ishikawa chart that pretends all the Toei adaptions never happened?
Here's an early rough draft of the Patlabor Chart. I'm planning on putting TV/The New Files/The Next Generation underneath the Movie stuff, and moving the FAQ to where 0080/0083/Endless Waltz/X are right now. Any suggestions to add?

Another thread talking about "Should I watch X or Y" just popped up, really makes you think.
Also I'd still like some critique on >>15513083
before I continue on it some more (Both what's in it and the styling of the text)
