I get the hate for Takaharu, but not as much for Daigo, Right and Lucky. There's enough characterization in Kyoryuger and ToQger that it honestly didn't feel like you were losing much from the red leading things, especially in battle.

With Takaharu, it was just "he's the best" and everyone else except Kinji was put aside. Right now, Lucky is in-between Daigo and Takaharu, but we need more episodes to see which one he is.

I think what made Daigo tolerable was a combination of Sakamoto's direction and Ryusei's acting

Yamato got all the power ups and overall the entire cast was bland besides Leo and Misao. Everyone was just kind of inoffensive but not stand out and Yamato is no Hiromu with his SERIOUS AUTISM, Marvelous with his cockiness, or Takeru with his no nonsense seriousness.

The reason that people view us in a never ending chain of Attenion Whore Reds is that we haven't had a cast strong enough to break people feeling this way. Then suddenly we get sold Kyuranger a show with 9 Rangers with unique suits and we're all a bit hopeful and then we get slammed with the worst Red favoritism since Daigo with a character whose personality is grating to anyone who isn't a child.

The only way Red hate will end is if we get a really strong season of Sentai with a strong overall cast.

The issue is the entire cast in Deka and Magi was strong to the point where you had characters coming in conflict with Red being the leader in the first 10 episodes.

Dekaranger and Magiranger also had teamwide power ups, not GIVE ALL YOUR POWER TO RED powerups.

I have nothing better to do, so here:
Flashman, Maskman, Changeman, Liveman and GoggleV are pretty much, with some unnecessary changes here and there, the same as the original but with a annoying kid singing.
MMPR season 1 is the same as the american one.
Turboranger is... Bad.
Georanger is interesting. I like the "rollcall" they did. But it ended up very close to the original Zeo opening.
Megaranger (funny they used this name since it's based on the american one) is a good song.
Power Rangers Rescue looked like it would be very close to the american one at the start, but it isn't. It's a decent one.
Power Force Rangers is not a good song, but definitely not the worst.
Dino Thunder Abaranger is surprisingly good.
Dekaranger-Ninninger are pretty much complete remakes of the original ones.
Dino Force Brave you can feel that they made an effort for it to be a good song.

The Kyoryuger cover is easily the best of the ones that are straight covers. The singer matches the original's energy and I think the thumping beat was a neat addition that didn't swallow up the whole song as that kind of thing tends to do. I can see why the show became popular with an opening like that.

Actually I don't think that she has to be a Kyuranger at all but I do think that even in some hypothetical smaller team scenario she should be there with Xiao as one of the surviving members of the Rebellion. My line of thought is just that since she's there, might as well make her a Kyuranger too. The "wants to fight too, despite not being built to" things works fine as a motive.

Actually, whenever toku tries to go for an anime feel it looks garbage. See: Go-Onger, and that one Korean tokusatsu "demo" that looked like it was from an MMO.

Most of the gimmicks don't add anything, all that's required to get by is Lucky's super luck + whatever attack kyutama him and/or Xiao pull out of their asses.

Her character setup is simple but effective enough + she has entertaining banter with Xiao who I think should be there too. I also want around 80 - 90% of the team to feel as "alien/sci-fi" as possible, as opposed to the current team feeling mostly made up characters who might as well be earthlings (Naga works fine because personality-wise he's basically a fucking robot) Those reasons are enough to put Raptor above around half the current team for me personally.

Nah, for real, just remove the humans except for Naga and it's more likeable. Garu and Champ for combat, Balance and Naga for skill, Raptor for brains, Xiao for leadership.
Redistribute what the humans have into a bit of each and you'll have the best team.

Raptor is shittier character than Hammy

Even though Yamato got all the power ups, in general he was a good red. He was calm, he worried about his friends, he was kind and got over his problems with his father. It was really refreshing, to be honest. But I understand if people find the fact that he's the only with all the powers a good reason to dislike him.

I don't dislike Yamato but I generally find him boring. He just barely has a personality. He's like bread with butter. Good enough, yet bland and boring.

Zyuohger was a fine show but at the same time it never did anything for most of it's run. It just stayed as safe as possible. Zyuohger is probably the safest middle of the road season imaginable. Most of it's plot is stretched way, way too thin too. It's characters are also shallow and bland and only really interesting on a surface level.

Leo, and Amu never truly move as characters because they had nothing to move, Tusk moves early on and then never again, Sela loses all her personality for a long stretch of time. Misao retreads the same plot over and over until finally letting the development truly take. It all leads to a show that's not bad, but also not really memorable outside of not being Ninninger.

Like I get that Daigo has a lot of faults but Souji's arc with Torin in the last quarter, or Ian's issues with his dead partner are far more interesting to me than anything that happened with any of the six Zyuohger.
