When were Qilin associated with dragons? I never heard of this. They've always been the mythical funky deer in both Chinese and Japanese cultures.

As for Phoenix, you can debate on whether the western Phoenix translates to Hou-ou/Fenghuang all you want (there are alternative translations), but "hou-ou" is the Japanese (and Chinese) name assigned to the Phoenix constellation.

Yeah, they're all fire birds, but only the phoenix has the whole "death and rebirth" thing. The Ho-oh/Fenghuan was a symbol of royalty, born from the sun, specifically, the heaven's power for the empress. Suzaku/Zhu Que is immortal and also represents the summer and south direction.

Suzaku and Ho-oh also are traditionally represented with a peafowl's tail. Ho-oh also was traditionally depicted with multiple colored feathers, not just red, although nowadays it's generally shown as a red/yellow bird.

Gokaiger's could've relied entirely on nostalgia, but instead they had a backstory episode for each character and made them feel like they actually respected and trusted each other.

Two seasons in a row with weak character development and guest appearances by a better show would just be the last straw.

Champ, Raptor, and Garu all have plotlines and if this were a better written sentai they'd get just a little more focus to develop them.

But not only are they among eleven rangers, Lucky has been monopolizing time.

Like Champ has to basically accept workin with Stinger despite still believing Stinger killed his dad. Is this because Champ is a bad character? No, he did great when they were actually bothering to write him. Right now, they can't be bothered to weave that story into what's going on and all that's going on is Lucky being Lucky

Worse, it will be a while before that story is concluded because it seems MANDATORY that Lucky has to be the one to solve anyone else's problem, and it will take a while for it to be important enough for Lucky to handle.

This is not "deconstruction", I don't think you even know what that means, this is just lazy writing where "Red is the BEST" has to be forced as a meme instead of being because Red is actually a good character.

But the entire cast of Dekaranger was well developed and Jan was only used as a narrative vehicle in Gekiranger, he didn't solve every problem he was just the vehicle in which we learned the story because he was Rio's rival, and Rio was more important than any individual of the Gekirangers to the plot

Well, to be fair, there IS ToQger.

Now, I'm only 31 or so episodes through ToQger, so I could be wrong, but there's a significant amount of focus that's not on Right. Sure, Z has a VERY unhealthy obsession with him, but other than that Right's a pretty normal dude who's as important and developed as the rest of the ToQgers.

Also apparently Lucky's going to get the shit beaten out of him by Ikagen in a future episode so thats pretty aight I guess

You've still got a good chunk to go and Z's obsession with Right only gets more focus.

The only way to break the Red Hate Boner that has existed since Kyuranger is if we get a season where each Ranger gets an upgrade like Gingaman/Dekaranger/Magiranger/Goseiger again, we have a stoic Red, and Red/the 6th doesn't get the kill on the final boss like Shinkenger.

I'd say either Jasmine, Nanami, and Luka have all held a steady level of popularity over the years.

It's hard to really compare any of them to Kimberly because MMPR's nostalgia levels are easily stronger than any giving Sentai due to how the Sentai casts are treated and viewed but the audience as expendable from day one, and the MMPR cast wasn't. If that makes sense.
