Plot was a mess, Tendou was an unlikable Gary Stu and he never got better, in fact he got worse when it got obvious he will always be proven right at the end of the arc, gimmicks got old pretty fast, for some reason they disregard whatever plan they had at the beginning and start improvising at the second half and fights were repetitive. The bulky suits didn't allow complex coreographies and the worms were glorified cockroachs, the problem was to find them but after that, it was as easy as to step over them (1,2,3 rider kick).

Well, I liked the movie and Kageyama. His character development was stupid as fuck and full of plotholes but Tokuyama is so charismatic that he made his emo phase really fun.

My thought was just that she's a tiny girl who doesn't have fighting experience. Gentarou can take hits better and just wades into a fight to deliver headbutts.

Coming right off Fourze and now am five eps into Wizard. I'm enjoying it so far. The opening scene of the first episode was pretty great, probably my favourite first episode introductory scene of any of the Riders I've seen so far.
Otherwise it's nice, the fights are really cool and the story & character stuff is no worse than anything else I've seen, but certainly not as good as Fourze.
The main complaint I've heard is that the plot stops moving entirely at some point for more than a dozen or so episodes, how far into the show does that happen? I'm not too concerned with slow-paced stuff to be honest.

Huh. Everything up to episode 8 is by Yuya Takahashi. It really seems like we won't end up with something like Ghost's 2nd half again (main writer unable to keep up with the schedule). The 1st half was better, but even there he always had to skip one or two episodes between his own.

It's really a combination of things. For a long time, since the early 10s, the only "plot progression" will basically be Wizard's rivalry with a certain character and getting new forms. A lot of that will end up seeming pointless after a certain arc ends, and once you get the final form then things slow down even more since they can't introduce new forms anymore to make the episodes seem relevant.

The monsters of the week also go from personal attacks to "the fear of death will make you despair!". Also, the random monsters of the week won't really follow Wizard's power progression, resulting in him randomly not using his powered up forms or just standing around while they escape in order to make the arcs extend to 2 episodes.
