Gunpla / Plamo General

***READ THE GUIDE***

https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1Tr8UyF2Xg5Ojqw0sxcO7oIG7IIsJPes3lMO5pHZKu5o

***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, dont make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

I'd be in despair too if I wasted cash on that suit.
>>
Does Kotobuki or anyone else make some parts like EW Altron's extendo arms, or Epyon's tail?

Like some big joints I can connect and connect to make it as long as I want. I don't even know what kind of joints those are called. A lot of the joints I see seem to be for legs or arms, and not like a snake/tail.

To the builder of OP pic, it's not wise to build while sick. While you seemed to have done fine, it's too easy to screw up or be harmed one way or another.
>>
OP, why was it necessary to make a new thread so early? At least wait till it's on page 9.

I have a Bandai Action Bases for my 1/100 kits, and I don't really like them, they seem cheap and they take up a lot of real estate.

Are there any alternatives? Both my kits are MG Wing kits, so they're smaller than most UC stuff.

Is japan-cool the only Gunpla retailer in the UK?

There's always Amazon, but that shit takes for fucking ever.

Japan-cool is ok but their prices are kinda high.

Are those the best optons for gunpla in the UK? I'm thinking about getting my first kit, but I'm not sure where's best.

Just depends how quick you want them and how much you want to pay, Japan cool has the whole range but not everything is in stock.

This. I sliced it off on my spare (Since Im building Gaia's Origin Zaku II instead of Mash's) so it could fit in my Kampfer Amazing's hands. It's less stable, but still pretty stable.

This is why I have like a 5+ backlog of kits, By the time those are done my Amazon order comes in and the cycle then repeats.

>tfw mess up cutting a V-Fin
There must be an easier way other than going with an x-acto knife. At least it was only the RX-78-2 Revive.
>>
>>14111774
Files. Use files on a V-Fin.
>>
>>14111774
An xacto knife or nippers on a v-fin is asking for trouble, anon. Just sand it down with a low grit sandpaper or a file and finish with a high grit.
>>
>>14111774
lol wut

Use a sanding block bro, slicing a V-fin is almost impossible.
>>
>>14111835
Not that anon but I usually cut the safety nubs on a V-fin and if you gently slice at it you can do it with no issues. Just takes loads of patience.
>>
>>14111774
I know that feel, man. I made the same mistake with my Freedom Revive despite being fine for like 6 kits before it. I spent the night after thinking how stupid I was for not using files or just sanding it down. Needless to say, right now on my V-Dash I did a sanding + file combo and it's fine.

Except this time my lining pen, Pigma Micron, started leaking on to my finger when I was lining the face plate and head vents. I didn't notice and as I put the head together the ink smudged all over the back discolouring it. Sanding doesn't make it go away and I'm a snapfag [read: poorfag] so I can't paint it away either, and I don't want to brittle the plastic with lighter fluid. Thank goodness I still have a Hexa head, I'll wait until my panel lining gundam markers come in the mail before making it.

Alright so within the last week he has made duplicate/new generals before the page has hit page 10. According to ancient history, the Mods decreed that no new general should be made before page 10.

Also, what about Global Rule #6?

Also, this is all within the last month.
Point out that some of these images are the same ones he used from the fall.

Someone else is going to have to do this. I obviously can't talk to these guys worth a fuck. I've failed, and I'm sorry.
>>
>>14112123
If at all possible, someone should get his all posts where he calls /toy/ a hugbox. Which is at least 3 times every general.
Or does he delete them so that he can't get b& for it?
>>
>>14112195
You're shit and your constant call for getting people to do the leg work gathering evidence for you only made snapshit and his ilk tone things down a bit so that they won't have active posts for mods to see.
>>
>>14112195
One of the guys you're talking to is basically saying that we're feeding Snapfag by reacting to him. Doesn't the fact that he does and says things that are unpopular (flaming, trolling) and very much against the community SOLELY for the sake of getting responses make him a troll?
Isn't that DIRECT violation of Rule 3?

Fucking incompetent shits
>8. Complaining about 4chan (its policies, moderation, etc) on the imageboards may result in post deletion and a ban

I mean, man these mods and janitors sure have a hard time policing these here imageboards, we best gather even more proper evidence that explicitly condemns Snapfit-kun soon!
>>
>>14112213
Not to mention that he replies to himself all the fucking time and makes no effort to conceal it
>>
>>14112213
I mean, I know 3 and 6 are a little "open", but this is pretty blatant.
>>
>>14111835
>slicing a V-fin is almost impossible
Every one of the safety nubs on all of my v-fins is sliced and then sanded. It's not "almost impossible."
>>
>>14112214
I think this is why /m/ needs a mod that is solely dedicated to /m/.
Someone that "mains" /m/ and is very knowledgeable and able to blend in with all the communities on here, someone who knows the ins-and-outs.
Because right now it doesn't feel like we have any mods or janitors like that. Ones who know the board and communities. It feels like we just have ones that are assigned to multiple, higher traffic boards who will maybe sometimes delete blatant copy-pasta threads and explicitly rule-breaking images if we report them at least 50 times.

>>
>>14111140
Funny thing. Same thing happened to to me on the same gun. Just take a number tab from the runners and cement it. If it breaks off again, I might drill a hole and make a more stable tab for the hands.
>>
>>14112272
I still can't get over the horse dildo head. It's even worse on Kimaris Trooper and looks completely ridiculous.
>>
You guys should focus more on snapshit being a nuisance for the board in general. Focusing on what he does in the generals means nothing since that is common in every general.
>>
>>14112350
The top of the head and the lack of color on the chest are the only things that really bother me. I have gotten over the head though, but I do think it would be better if rounded out, the cat face is fine but the protruding top is definitely off.

With the design of the Kimaris, the black is actually a really good effect except for two areas. The little triangles on the shoulders and the thigh panels end up looking really strong. The rest of it turned out great.
>>
Odd question, where would a Canadian get kits the cheapest?

Amazon.ca has had a few pop up with free shipping, but a bit more expensive than Hobby Link. The catch is that the ones on Amazon have free shipping, and the shipping from most sites seems to cost an arm and a leg.

Any other Canadians have some recommendations?
>>
>>14112354
Honestly I'm glad he uses a name, I namefiltered him and haven't had problems since
>>
>>14112651
I've used HLJ, but their prices are in yen and the CND is shit.
Hobbywave is also good. Their prices are in USD, so again, CND means the prices are a higher, but the lower prices + $18 shipping can save a lot if you're buying a bunch.
If you're only buying one or two, might just wanna go with amazon.
>>
>>14112071

Coming from a huge 00fag, I'm extremely skeptical of 00S1 kits. I got an Exia and Kyrios and both were lackluster as fuck and felt extremely lazy.
As for Dynames himself, he comes with beam saber hilt, but no beam saber. From what I've seen online he looks plasticky and toylike as fuck, but that might be fixed with painting and topcoating.
>>
>>14112805

The only thing I have that's close to a Season One kit is the Astraea Type F, since that's mostly a retool of the Exia. It's a really fun kit. Decent range of movement, plenty of detail. It, for sure, is one I can recommend.

If you live in a major city or near one there should be a Chinatown area. Somewhere in that two block chink radius are at least two stores that sell Japanese imports for pretty decent CAD pricing. Calgary has 4 stores in their Chinatown (with one just doing gunpla) and Edmonton has a few stores in the mall, BC is full of tiny stores too due to your massive Chinese influx.

The legs could be Hi-Mo Zaku.
The wings could be Gundam X I guess?
Or the Hyaku-Shiki back wings positioned differently.

Human beings only need an 8x10 room, really. More than most nips get and plenty of space to do and have stuff if you're creative and build up. It is VERY easy to arrange a room that you almost don't have to leave at all if you're good at trash management. How do you build model kits? Do you just hold the very small pieces with tweezers because your hands don't have the mobility? Are you like that guy in the Macross Delta thread who couldn't do the W Walkure sign only using one hand because your fingers are too fat to bend like that by themselves?

I'm on the opposite end of the scale here, just about fitting in the healthy/normal weight scale, leaning towards underweight.

No. Vallejo Acrylics are shit. Literally. You buy it and they ship you a giant jar of fresh dog shit, sometimes they feel extra jazzy and mix in some fresh cow shit too. But all you're getting is shit. Also it's toxic. Extremely toxic. So toxic that putting it on your gunpla will kill your parents. It'll get a gun and put a fucking bullet in their heads, that's how toxic Vallejo Acrylic paints are. Also the colours are a lie. You buy Sparkling Ruby Buttplug Red and instead they just send you Feces Sample Brown or Scat Fetish Brown. Lastly their customer service is horrendous. If you call the number on the jars they don't answer, they just laugh at you non-stop for thirty six hours. Then they use your phone to make collect calls to Russia and India and people in those countries can laugh at you too.

Vallejo Acrylics are fine. Stop being retarded and think for yourself for a change.

Alright, bit the bullet and bought MG Exia and MG Zaku II 2.0.

What Tamiya colours should I buy? Also, I need primer and clearcoat, I think. I'm grabbing some Mr. Hobby top coat right now too. Oh man, getting all the supplies for the first time is exciting.

Exia can be made into the Exia Repair as well (which I'll probably do), but the broken GN sword is white. Gunmetal doesn't seem like the right colour for it. Hmm.

Your eyes dart over the generous amount of kits on the shelf. You've never seen so many kits in one place before. There are all kinds of kits on the shelves. High grades, Real Grades, Master Grades, and even Perfect Grades!

You make your way over to the displays in a calm fashion. You try not to express your overwhelming excitement because the shop keeper is watching you. It seems like an eternity, but you are finally within reach of a kit. It doesn't matter what kit it is. This is the first time you have set your hand on a box of GunPla that does not belong to you. After years of ordering online, it feels strange yet satisfying. Flipping over the box you read the price tag. Thirty dollars. You pause for a moment and flip the box over again. You are holding the HGUC Victory Two Gundam. In disbelief you set down the box and scan over to another kit. There must be some kind of mistake. You pick up the HGUC RX-78-2 Gundam Revive and look at the price. It's thirty dollars as well. A wave of panic rushes over you as you realize that everything is way too expensive. You hurriedly make a beeline for the exit while trying to avoid contact with the nice elderly asian grandma who is tending the store.

"Have a nice day, come back soon!" says the grandma with a warm motherly voice as you push open the door.

Hours later you sit at home and order kits from HLJ.

Just kidding, Hygogg and Zgok E are kind of a hassle if you're really looking for something simple. For flashy mecha, look at Wing and SEED. Freedom was actually a good choice for that. Maybe a Eing Fenice?

she has actually scoffed at it when we went shopping last week though that could have been because both the places we went to trying to buy models had only that kit in stock then magically couldn't find any other models despite them saying they were in stock..

I'm thinking of using the Amazing Booster in a kitbash.

That thing doesn't stick too far out of the back does it?

>Eing
Wing. Wing Fenice.
And again, regular Wing and Freedom Revive are cool-looking. Check out the Nu if you think she likes the sci-fi realistic aspect of it as well as the cool robot part.

Beargguy sounds like you'd be looking down on her and I usually only rec it for girls who haven't watched Gundam (or ones who need it to complete their collection, but good luck finding a girl like that). However, it is undeniable that bitches love Beargguy. So decide based on her personality, choose.

Let's not forget the creepy thin man who's always back there asking if he can help you find anything. And tries to make conversation with you like he knows anything about gunpla. Not like you need help finding the whole two shelves half stocked with gunpla.

But if you introduce it in her critical period of /m/hancement then she might take it as "you're a girl so you get the cute girly thing, let the boys play with real robots" which is not at all what you want to say. Just treat her like you would a male friend. Once she shows appreciation for the hobby she should pass the point where Beargguy can be taken as an insult and accept Beargguy as what it is.

Or not at all in this case, by the sound of the earlier posts. Fenice or Fenice R are both good choices and I'll keep repeating that.

how can you not tell how much paint you have on a small brush, that's the easiest one
>>
>>14115814
For sure, if I'm gonna be assed to spend 60 bucks on a MG Origin Gundam instead of 40 they damn sure better butter me up. The problem is, I don't want another RX-78. Or a core fighter. Gimme something, anything, that's not a lead suit, or at least more than 10 HGs to choose from.

Kennesaw claims the status of largest hobbytown USA in the country, but gunpla they stock maybe twice a year, and have less shelf space dedicated to it than the average builder.

It's a big joke with the 5-odd others gunplarers in the metro that I know. We'd rather drive to the anime shop at the Mall of Georgia, at least then we might find a scroll or a figure when we're disappointed with the model selection. Better looking trim too
>>
>>14115851
I reduce the amount of paint on it because I'm able to tell most of the time but it can deceive me at times.
>>

Not sure, never had that come up. If I may ask, where do you hail from? Newton county here and the one in Duluth has a better selection and is 30 minutes closer.

I'll occasionally trek up to the HobbyTown in Greenwood, Indiana.

I've nabbed a few HGs from there. They're very reasonable ($15 bucks for the HD Remaster release of the Strike Gundam) and they've got a decent enough selection of tools and Gundam markers and stuff. And their little free rewards card is pretty handy.

The red/pink markings on the armor are so big, specially for a 1/100, that you should be masking instead of treating them like panel lines or they'll look like shit.

Size wise its impressive. Its got a bit of weight to it because of the binders. Everything holds in place fairly well. The arms pivot way up where the binders connect. No opening of the funnel housing like in the other figures or the Kshatriya Repair. Make sure you have a 1/100 stand for it, and lots of shelf space, because when it opens up, it opens wide. Great kit overall, even with the weird arms.
