How am I "gaming" the system? I fulfilled their criteria and they cross-referenced with the doctors etc. I'd seen to make sure everything I said during assessment was the truth.

maybe I wouldn't have to if I wasn't on a year's waiting list to even find out whether there's any mental health services in this region of the country who are capable of dealing with my sort of issues? or if the NHS covered FFS? my life wouldn't be perfect with those things but it might make it better enough for other coping mechanisms to be more effective than they are at the moment. when I had a general mental health assessment done to check whether I'd inherited any of my father's psychosis (negative) the two psychs present literally told me not to stop doing drugs for now as they didn't have adequate support in place to replace it and they believed wholeheartedly by their own assessment it's literally all that's keeping me alive.

in terms of holding down basic menial jobs yeah there's specific tasks I can do pretty easily and even some relatively complex skills I'm great at, but the pain and fatigue I get- and the fact it's likely going to get worse and worse every year- are debilitating and make holding down a basic schedule impossible, I can work one or two days fine but after that my stamina is so low I literally collapse and sleep for like 18 hours and still wake up exhausted and in pain to the point of distraction after that. and that's without even touching on the mental health side of things.

having said that I'm going to try part-time work if/when I can find ongoing medical care, my main issue with working atm is that my health is literally not being monitored or supported in any ongoing way despite having lifelong issues and I don't want to be held to ransom by job centre staff and employers with zero medical knowledge.
