i did it back in 2010 or 2011ish and my endo had basically no idea what trans people were or how to treat them but she was really enthusiastic about learning. It took maybe 6 months to get all the letters required to officially start hrt but she would still do blood tests every other month to monitor my levels while i was DIY. i think things are a bit different now though, and of course it depends on who you have treating you.

I live in Maine, which is basically the same thing on a different coast.

I don't camp very much at all, I usually don't have the time to. I end up doing more rock climbing/bouldering and just fitting in a ton of elevation gain. The most I ever carry is like 40/50 but I do know people who go way way beyond what I'd consider sane.
