It's good to find someone I can relate with. The boy I was talking to, anytime I would mention doing something like couples do, like use the word dating or ask him if he wanted to go out to a restaurant, he would get all hesitant and start saying something about how we were "just talking" even though we had already gone out on dates. A few different things, but not so much resolutions as generally getting a grip on my life, including:
-no weed on weeknights
-only one drinking day a week
-more gym and training
-get a new job

So far, the weed withdrawal has been kicking my ass and making it impossible for me to sleep. The only good thing in that regard is that I'm not currently employed, so I'm not fucking up my job and I still have unemployment coming in for the next few months, till end of April.

As for the training, I've started doing krav maga, which is a lot of fun and it'll seriously boost my confidence in the long run - I have major self esteem issues and it's pissing off my partner. But all this started in December already.

Oh, and I started vaping instead of smoking. Not ideal, but I def feel better.

To clarify, I'm referencing the economic hardships of the former manufacturing and mining districts of the central States. But there seems to be a naive perception that those jobs are coming back, which they are just not. Instead, these people need to be retrained, so they can join some of the sectors that are growing, like renewables and IT. Instead, a populist like Trump exploit that rage and anxiety and promise a return of good jobs that he can't deliver.

At the same time, politicians erode the unions that created those good jobs that were outsourced to China and elsewhere, and for that reason, I don't see Trump as a serious person. He might be aware of this, he might not, but only the promise mattered, and that played well in these areas, so well, in fact, that he won the presidency. So it's a combination of showmanship, anxiety and nostalgia that's fueled the Trump ascendancy.
And now these same people will see their healthcare taken away and their job chances diminished even more, cuz, face it, the rest of Republicans in Congress are not going to let Trump impose tariffs on goods from outside the US.

Obviously, there's a lot more to it that this brief argument, but I've got stuff today AFK.

You're pretty much dead wrong about the Union thing though. Unions are great at improving the quality of jobs, at the expect of employment. The fact is that the American labor pool can't compete with the $1 an hour wages other labor pools have. Adding unions into the mix so employees are paid more and have more benefits doesn't help American labor compete.

Unions are undermined by scabs. Protests, threats and violence can keep scabs from working. But there isn't anything a union can do when the scan is a Chinese guy 10,000 miles away.

Ironically a mega project like "the wall" is some FDR new deal type stuff. Can't stop thinking about Pacific Rim and thinking about Mexican Kaiju.

Breitbart defended Trump viguriously on certain fuckups during his campaign like while CNN mostly refused to report on the podestaemails and even saying that "it's illegal to posses those emails except for the media".
