Tbh I think it's more like they thought that's what they were until a very late age. I am not ragging on older transitioners as a whole, because I have met two amazing examples of late transitioners who you would think were cis if you met them. The difference is though that they recognized that they had a harder path and would need more in the way of surgery to appear completely feminine. They also dress appropriately to their age and act like normal human beings. I guess when I say "later transitioner who doesnt try much" what I mean is someone who goes through an awkward "I am a young girl and we're all girls together lets go out and make a state of ourselves" kind of person. I was in the mindset before of obsessing about ffs. It's really difficult to deal with.
What helped for me was actually going out presenting female, even when I didn't pass. It took away a lot of the fear I had about it.
Turns out you pass better when you feel comfortable and aren't looking around nervously to see who's clocking you.

Well, at the clinic I went to I just phoned them up and explained it was post surgical granulation tissue annd that the hospital that did the surgery would email them info if they were worried. The one I went to was very informal so I just phoned up, said I wanted an appointment and that was that.
