i've always had an issue with this as well.

I can't, we're not allowed to share anything we work on unless it's for a demo reel, and my last one is from 2010. Plus you probably wouldn't know the series and movies I worked on, since they're french.
There's many fields in the animation industry. You can do 2D and 3D. Better be good at drawing, even for 3D, and attempt an animation school or a 3D course. Studio can also hire self-educated people, but it's pretty rare.

Sure, there are anime that are above and beyond the "tropes" that the post references, but the use of anime is meant with negative connotations without actually naming a show. It's a weak argument. Her reference that there are "no villains in the show" is wrong; Jasper was created to give the gems a powerful, recurring enemy. Another villain is Onion, but his fuckery is only supposed to be threatening in a certain context, namely slice-of-life style episodes that have a lighter atmosphere than the dramatic or romantic centered episodes.
The post says not to go in with 'expectations', that, when stripped of its superfluous comparison to anime, can be read here as "don't go in thinking it will be good". I don't even want to touch her last few sentences, as they translate to "watching something you want to watch is boring".
The show has good waifus, some entertaining one-offs episodes, but ultimately tries to be too many things. Its drama and romance, which was welcome and felt natural at first, is more forced as the series complicates, as twists are revealed, and characters are added. Where its contemporary Adventure Time learned from its mistakes (needless romance and drama), and still takes successful risks (at least around season 7 when I stopped watching), SU still plunders forward into the clunky and the unnecessary.

I think you have a aversion to anime, probably because you have watched very little. It's ironic considering the clear weeb influence on SU. I'm no turbo-weeb, but there are numerous series that are thoroughly unique and enjoyable, including some on-going shows. Though it got a lot of flack, the highly stylized Kill la Kill was a smash hit because it brought something new to the table. Then you get anime that plays off expectation, that would be your Madoka Magicas that purposely invert their genres into a unique experience. Those are just two well known examples off the top of my head. Yes, there are trope-fest shows that are marketed to a certain demographic, but those are quickly forgotten.

This will explain a lot about how the creator sees her show. I guess I fugged up when I said there will be no villains, she more said there's no big overarching villain, no main bad guy. But from what has happened in the show so far I honestly believe that most enemy gems will be talked out of their issues. They may not join the Crystal Gems, but they won't actively antagonize them. I believe Jasper will be redeemed, but not like Lapis or Peridot.

I used to be a better gamur grill but college kidnapped me. I play a lot less so I try to buy more "quality" games. Anyway, here's a little list. Not just these games but I guess you get the picture.
- Mass Effect, Dragon Age, The Old Republic
- Dishonored
- Deus ex. That series is god tier and it made me to pursue education in both medicine and bioengineering.
- I like the Metro series. Somehow I like the gritty atmosphere a lot. Fallouts are good too but there's something more in post apocalyptic Russia.
- The Last of Us. Excellent game
- I usually hate everything superhero related but Arkham series is the sole exception.
- Half-life 2 is so damn old but still, it's one the greatest games ever
- Then the evergreens like Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, Morrowind, Baldur's gate, Battlefront 2,
- Quantic dream has me hooked up to their games like they're blood nectar and I can't wait for Detroit: Become human to come out.
- Witcher 3 is in hiatus but I'll buy their next cyberpunk game when it comes out.
- I bought Remember me and the Life is Strange few months ago. I have yet to start them but are they worth the effort?

I watched E3 this year with my friends and all I remember about Detroit:Become Human is making fun of how the guy would say his name.

Life is Strange is great, but it is essentially a walking sim mixed with a "choose your own adventure" book. So be warned if you expect your games to be about gameplay. If you find that you like it in the first half hour, you'll enjoy most of the game. Just don't quit at the bottles. The bottles will make you want to quit but don't quit.
