My doctor wants to switch me from spironolactone to cyproterone acetate. I've been on hormones for ~7 years now. I've had good results, but spiro is really hard on me (I get dehydrated way too easily and it makes me faint sometimes), and we're hoping cypro will tone that down a lot.

Does anyone have any experience switching from one to the other (especially after a long time on HRT)? Did you notice any new changes? I'm not sure what I'm getting myself into if I change meds after so many years.

I was switched from 200mg spiro to 50mg cypro after 2 years for similar reasons. Idk, I think the main changes that I noticed were that my blood pressure was normal, I wasn't faint, and I wasn't dehydrated all the time. It also seemed to work better.
That said, cypro did extremely weird stuff to my mood and personality, I got depressed a lot easier and couldn't seem to manage my emotions, was a psycho bitch desu.

My old doctor had me on a weird dosage setup, too, to mitigate the effects of spiro. Cypro wasn't available where I used to live, so I had a low dosage of spiro and high dosage of estrace. My levels are ok, but it's not optimal. With any luck, I'll be able to get off spiro completely then lower my estrogen dosages into more reasonable levels. And maybe even get more improvements. It's exciting. Thanks again!
