You can't put the weight of the whole movie in the shoulders of the lead and expect great results. It was a good movie, but not great and not best movie nomination level.

As for the movie itself, it was funny at times, visually and technically pleasing, but it was not really moving. At least Interstellar had more of an emotional pull and Gravity created a great atmosphere, but here you don't get that. It just feels like any other action flick were the hero has to beat the odds and that's it, and you know he's gonna make it because "Hollywood". There's no real twist or smart final act, nothing.

Also I hate how they gave the Indian roles to black people just to fill the diversity quota, even if you hardly ever see Indians in mayor blockbuster movies. It changed the tone in a really negative way, those character morphed into parodies of themselves and that dude that made the plan was down right detestable with his autism and stupidity.
