Sandman K is more aesthetic and cheaper.
Omega with flat end cap and Keymount is more expensive than a Sandman S, and I'm seeing mixed reviews/problems with the Key Mo on the omega. Plus it comes out to 1" longer than Sandman S, 3oz lighter, but quieter.

Omega with Key Mo is 2oz heavier than K, and 2" longer.

Sandman S pricing for me is the same as Omega.
Main difference between the two is going to be maybe 2-3dB on the HIGH side with the Omega being quieter. Sandman S is also 3oz heavier. Same length, with Sandman S being slightly shorter after putting a Key Mo on omega.

If Sandman S and Omega are the same price at the get go, I should go with the S unless the Omega is that much quieter (it isn't), shorter (it is 0.3" longer with UFO end cap, and 0.7" shorter with flat, and ASR mount, or 0.9" longer with UFO endcap or same length with flat end cap and Key Mo), or lighter (4oz lighter without Key Mo, 3oz lighter after Key Mo).

Barrel minimums don't matter that much I guess. I don't plan on any meme barrel lengths.

Hey /arg/, this might not be the place for it. But I just picked up an Aero Survival Rifle. Its an AR style type deal, it apparently AR parts can just snap right on it. I normally keep to older firearms where I don't have any modularity, so I'm a bit out of my element here.

Sandman S or Omega 7.62?
After Key Mo, MD, and 5.56 end cap the Omega comes out to $250 more than the Sandman. It will be the same length and about 3oz lighter.

Seems like it will be a little bit quieter as well, but that is hard to tell. Found one test clocking the Omega with 5.56 end cap on a 10.5" 5.56 at 132dB or so.

Sandman S with unknown end cap (so possibly minus 1-3dB) on the same setup was clocking 138dB (but could be as low as 135dB).

Makes me want to get the Sandman K as that will be an honest 1.5" shorter than upgraded Omega, and 2oz lighter, and like $400 cheaper, but will obviously be even louder than the Sandman S.
Probably around 140-143dB with 5.56 end cap on a similarly 10.5" 5.56 rifle.

I can't find hard numbers on equivalent equipment for the Sandman-S but I saw "-30dB for .308" in a video, and that's near as makes no difference what SilencerCo publishes for the Omega too (164dB to 133.9dB = 30.1dB).

The Sandman-S is about the size of a 5.56 suppressor, so with a 5.56 end cap it should be competitive.

Omega is fucking top tier when it comes to actual suppression. I want a can that strikes a decent balance. Quiet for the shooter but also for those around since my primary purpose is to enable shooting in national forest land in spots I couldn't shoot at before because of local homeowners complaining about noise.

I am being super autistic about this because I want to get it right. With other firearm purchases resale and flipping is relatively easy, but not with a can.

I went through all these thoughts too, and knowing I'd get more eventually I put off the 7.62 until last. .22 and 0.0556" mm were first, and for each purchase I prioritized sound suppression highest, followed by features. I am glad I did.

Shop around for the Omega, wait for some kind of sale or deal. SilencerShop was paying tax stamps not long ago. Sometimes places do big clearance sales when the new models come out.

Thank you. Omega is same price as Sandman S, and both are pretty good deals. Only thing pushing me towards Sandman S over omega is Key Mount. Key Mount seems simpler on and off than ASR. Omega is superior in all other respects as far as I can see.
