yes. its what I recommend to first time buyers. S&W has a pretty great CS so if you have any issues they will take care of it. Don't spend more then $575 after tax. Just dont, the market is saturated in AR15s right now. Depending on where you're at you can probably get one for $500 on a sale.

How do you like it? Does the mount come off in such a way that one might be able to change out mounts later down the road like the Omega can?
What have you shot through it? Any qualms or concerns?

A2's Omega with 5.56 end cap on his 11.5" was quite pleasant. I am considering and Omega 30 but I can get a Sandman K for $200 less. My only concern with the Sandman K is that I'm going to be disappointed in how loud it is, and it really doesn't seem like it would be all that effective on a 308.

The mount is not removable, the centering cone and locking collar threads are welded to the main body, only the locking collar is removable, pic related.

I've shot .308 and 6.5CM through it, the latter is very pleasant. I have no fears about the construction if that's what you mean, the entire baffle stack is welded inconel cut to bore with EDM. The locking system is the best I've seen, cannot be installed incorrectly and has an emergency catch preventing the can from coming off if engaged even one click. Wave springs are durable enough, and Dead Air would replace anything that breaks or wears out.

Short suppressors are kind of gimmicky imo. They do something, and even with the world's biggest suppressor a rifle is not hearing safe indefinitely, but short ones are so near the weight and length of a normal size suppressor that you might as well hang a normal one on the barrel. Again it's my opinion, but I think of short suppressors on 5.56 like really good blast diffusers, just something to take most of the edge off an SBR. I don't think short cans are good at all for .308, only truly useful for .300nigout.

Perhaps you could consider something modular like the Rugged Surge.

That said $200 is not insignificant, that's two extra mounts or a free tax stamp.
