I read mugs and was damn confused for a minute

>>33761089
Technically you're destroying identifying marks which has always been illegal on a firearm AFAIK, but if you scrub it good is anyone really going to know?
>>
>>33761118
The wording of the law only concerns defacement of the serial number I believe
>>
>>33761118
i think it is illegal, unless you do (SBR) paper work then you can have to put your name on the sbr ect
>>
>>33761149
I'm fairly certain this is correct since your trunnion serial and receiver serial don't have to match. If you're turning it into an SBR though, you're expected to have the importer and manufacturer information on the receiver.
>>
>>33761149
Might be worth writing a letter to the ATF, a quick google search pulls up at least Illinois and Ohio who have it written in state law that defacing and letter or number from importer or manufacturer marks is committing a crime

I'd have to spend more time to find federal laws if any on it, I've just always been under the impression that messing with any marks is technically a crime. But again if you did it clean and refinished over it who the fuck would know?
>>
>>33761089
Anon from last thread. I'd like to see something about that.

To my knowledge, imported firearms had to maintain import markings of the company that imported the firearm and the city it was imported. Not sure if that changes anything when you engrave it for a Form 1. Technically you would become the manufacturer, so I could see where they'd allow that info to be removed.

Might have to write the ATF about it for clarification. If I can have it removed, or even replaced to the bottom of the receiver, that'd make the rifle look all the better.

>>
>>33761199
California also has a law prohibiting removing any identifying markings, and there is a federal law about transferring firearms between states that have had markings removed. But I can't find a federal law that prohibits a person from removing markings from his own firearm, excluding the S/N.
>>
>>33761199
Colorado seems to be coming up with the same state law too. It says defacing and importer or manufacturer "identifying mark" which could be limited to the serial or be as broad as the way they do rivets I guess

Polish steel milsurp AKM mags are good.

I think that list is talking strictly about 7.62 mags. For 5.45 there's almost no reason to buy anything but Russian, Bulgarian, or East German mags at this point unless you want to collect mags from different places.

The short gas tube is for an AMD65. There is no AMD63, there is a AKM63 but it takes a standard length naked gas tube.

If it's the short AMD-65 gas tube with handguard ferrules you want, Khyber Customs makes one.

He's talking about what the hungarian military called it. To them it's the akm-63. Civilian versions sold in the US are referred to as AMD63 for some reason.
It's like when someone mentions bakelite mags and some sperglord feels compelled to make sure everyone knows that bakelite mags aren't actually made of bakelite.

Just imagine this guy correcting you about something and you'll get the idea.
>>
>>33761665
Tapco mags are more durable and cheaper then magpuls. If you brake the locking tab they will replace the mag. It's worth it to have a few for range use. I use them for emergency reload drills. They are slightly wider them combloc forcing you to load squarely.

I just copy/pasted that from the AK Forum, wasn't trying to sperg.
It was more to say they're 2 different lengths.
AKM-63 will take a standard length gas tube, AMD-65 won't.

I have plenty of Russian mags and a mustard dual carabiner sling I plan on putting on. The East Germans did if that's what you are referring to.

EG AK-74 magazines used to be a dime a dozen. They were identical to Russians sans the arsenal mark (the only markings were a mold number)

EG AK-47-AKM magazines usually were blued, although I have seen parkerized mags as well. I have a blued East German magazine in my collection.

An 80% receiver build I went through in a rush and didn't headspace and/or other shit just right.

This pic was the night before the test fire, after it successfully chambered and extracted a round from the mag. No, the slant brake isn't correct, I just slapped it on for the pic.

I'm not sure. I would assume You could but it might be a loose fit around the edges. The MAK-90 receivers are 1.6mm thick, so standard AKM furniture has to be filed to fit it, which might mean that the stocks made for the MAK would be a little roomier than AKM stocks. Also when it comes to the MAK stocks, If I remember correctly, there are different stocks for the slant cut receivers and square cut. If you wanted to try to fit one on, you would need a stock made for the square cut. You can sorta see it in this picture.
>>
>>33765594
The receiver, to start, hence the store bought 100% receiver I included in the box with the blown one. Probably also a barrel, MAYBE a front trunnion. Definitely a barrel retaining pin, because the one they sent was the wrong size and I made something work. Yes, I'm now aware that was fucking stupid.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xvyk3rt6mbp02qs/3e816d13-0e42-46a9-bfbc-679db9677489.mp4?dl=0

I can say I learned a fuckload more by blowing it up than by doing something 100% by the book and told what to from start to finish. I can also say I would have saved a lot of money by doing it that way.

I know it's /not an AK/ but man I love my vz.58 so much. Every time I shoot my Egyptian or Chinese AK I regret inside that I didn't bring my vz, and when I bring all of my 7.62x39 guns out I always end up focusing on the vz. Just taking it out of the safe and fondling it brings me more happiness than fondling any of my other guns (tied with SLR104fr tho)

The price sounds fair enough as is. When it comes to getting something you put your time, money, blood, sweat, and tears into, every penny is worth saving it IMO. This is coming from a kit builder myself. It may sound extreme for me to say such a thing but it is my honest opinion, something we are all entitled to.

It's just a really nice rifle, sure there are things that AKs do better but there are also things that the vz does better. Admittedly mine has a welded on muzzle extension to meat OAL (original barrels are .6" shy of 16") so I don't know how well they'd shoot with a proper brake but without a brake it's no worse than an SKS (and it's just 7.62x39 so it isn't like recoil is that bad to begin with). I've owned a lot of guns over the years and none other than my SLR come close to giving me the warm fuzzies that this rifle gives me

Wins the award for the most obnoxious thing anyone can say when talking about income tax. Why don't you just cut to the chase and say, "I'm rich?" That's obviously the message you're trying to communicate, why not just be straightforward with what you're trying to say?
>>
>>33768663
Not him, but consider this:

You don't have to be rich to wind up in a tax bracket that takes more money than had been taken since last year.

In the last year:
Employer didn't downsize
Got married
Got a promotion (I now make a whopping $10/hr)
Joint filed with wife (also making $10/hr)

All that made me suddenly owe ~$1k, when before I would usually get back $200 or so.

Am I poor? Am I rich? Or, am I just trying to get by?
>>

>Too bad they're rarely in stock and when they are, they sell out again almost immediately.
They need to do bigger runs of them.

alright /akg/, ARfag here. I just saw an IO Ak with fagpul furniture posted for $500. Should I offer $400 or is an IO just a shitpiece to stay away from?
>>
>>33769179
Also has an Arsenal Bolt in it according to the seller
>>
>>33769179
You should pay the full $500. At that price, it's a steal!
>>
Talk me out of buying a fixer-upper SKS off J&G with my tax return.
>>
>>33769187
I've bought and sold enough shit to know to never pay the asking price. I'm gonna offer $400 I just don't know anything about IO. I don't want to get stuck with a paperweight
>>
>>33769212
You'll get stuck with a paperweight. Don't take it, unless he also agreed to suck your dick

>>

>>33769185
Then it won't headspace, you can't just swap bolts. Either the seller is full of shit trying to make a sale or he's a retard
>>
>>33769230
Refer to this >>33761050

But in general, if you want your own "my first AK", the WASR-10 is the default choice.
>>
>>33769185
yeah that's a big hell no. AKs headspace based on the barrel depth in the front trunion. In order to get a new bolt headspaced you'd have to either pray to jesus you get lucky, or drill out the rivets on the front trunion, press or pull the barrel, and then re-rivet it in place. It's a lot more bullshit than it's worth for an AK that you're probably going to end up paying $400 - $450 for. Just spend a couple extra hundred and get an Vepr.
>>
Just how shit are Worst Korea drums? It's a back loader.

I'm trading an SSAK-47 slidefire stock that was already on my RPK when I bought it for one. Been wanting a drum for my rpk so this will work to mess around with until I order a Romy drum.

>>
>>33771651

>>33771673
I think there may be a burr on the mag release lever, now that I inspected it. I can feel a tactile "click" beyond the normal lock operation when inserting a mag, and all my mags that required filing (i.e., everything except 1 Russian, the Korean, and a PMAG) have a clear point of wear in the middle of the bottom side of the locking lug.

I took a very thin sanding sponge I used from my BattleTech mini days and ran it over the surface of the mag catch that would hit the lugs there. Suddenly the first bakelite started operating smoothly, then a bit more sanding and the other one got smoother too.

I'll play around with it more later, but it'll be hard to say whether or not it's actually making a real difference until I order more mags.

I've actually met Mark Arm a few times, my uncle has worked behind the scene in the Seattle scene since the late 80s from being a roadie for big name bands to sweet exclusive work stuff with Sub Pop. He's still friends with a lot of those local big name guys and I really lucked out growing up and being able to meet some of them when going down to the city to visit and they'd just be hanging out at his place

Just last summer him and Eddie Vedder roofed their friend's house with just the two of them and then out of the blue Bradley Cooper showed up because apparently him and Eddie Vedder are friends and they all three hung out and started drinking and sent selfies to people. It was really really weird. It's weird seeing famous people being normal

I know this sounds like a "my dad works for Nintendo" thing but I 100% swear it's real

I don't imagine you'll find anyone clamoring to advocate for muhammad's right to take offensive longrifle classes anywhere that isn't an -istan. Furthermore, it's a private business that reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. Even if they were challenged they could simply shift the maximum class size or stop offering classes to individuals who lack credentials (LEO, mil, DoD contractor) or aren't vetted, as many "tactical" schools have done with their more specialized material.
