Well unless you're planning on hunting in a state that requires a .30 cal minimum, then I'd say .300 is kinda pointless given the cost per round. That said, you'll get full powder burn in a 11" barrel in .300. Might make for a more pleasant shooting experience but it's not as if shorter 556 rifles are too bad.

Only if you need to meet the aforementioned .30 cal requirement for hunting or want an arguably more effective round for HD. Ammunition selection will probably make more of a difference than caliber tbqh but .300 has more energy transfer than 5.56 in closer ranges. Maybe considering buying a .300 barrel and just see if it's something you enjoy shooting? It's the only part you need as everything else is compatible with 5.56 guns. If you don't like it, you could always swap it out. Or maybe just another non ar rifle in .300 for the sake of diversity?

Back when I still had my SA58 carbine I got some of the rhodie 30 rounders for a song ($5 a pop for a box full of them). Thought the balance was WAY off, so I cleaned all the rhodieshit off them, and tossed them up on the files.

I feel the same way about 40 rounders in ARs. If your going to go full retard on mag capacity, just get a drum and embrace it. That said I dig the fuck out of quality (read: Taran) mag extensions on pistols. Reminds me, need to get some for my 43, have them cerakoted.

Far as I can out, but ive got long arms. For static shooting its much of a problem, its when your gottagofast shooting that weight feels off. Back then rhodie shit was everywhere. It was all fairly crappy. Caked in old oil and dirt, that awful rhodie paint. Also the casual racism was MUCH less en vogue. Cleaned up people bought them for much more than how they were. Took me while to clean all that crap up. The converted BREN mags looks much better, I imagine function better too if you replaced the leaf spring.
