Maybe, I would call it refined simplicity. It is very reliable for more reasons than "loose tolerances." There was an article posted a while back that went into the details of the bolt/action design that nobody talks about.

Studio ghibli is normalfag tier at this point honestly. When their movies are featured in US theatres and english dubbed it is pretty normalfag. Although this is 4chan where liking anything remotely japanese makes someone a weeb. Not offended and not the guy who posted that pic also not a weeb but calling someone a weeb because of a studio ghibli book is like calling someone a mall ninja because they bought a 10/22 with a synthetic stock. It is more mall ninja than a wood stock but is in reality just normalfag.

very minimal mag wobble on my wasr, get polish mags from aim they seem to be a wider spec and tighter fit. All of them lock up rock solid in my wasr. No mag I have tried yet has wobbled enough to cause any issue.

My 2015 WASR has little steel tabs welded inside the magwell that act to secure the mag in the same way the dimples would. Not sure when they started doing that, but if you buy a new one at the store you can see the production year in the serial number and have a look in the magwell for those steel tabs.

tl;dr me wasr no wobble
>>

I'll be sure to look for that, thanks.

Hello. I need a recoil rod and spring, trigger, mag release, and furniture for a mak 90. I want to spend as little as possible.

What can i put on my rpk wood to protect it better from the elements ? Its bare wood at them moment. Tung oil ? Id like to keep the blond color if i can.

That'd work. That's what a lot of people used to do with their Wasrs when they were still imported with laminate furniture like your big Wasr has there.

No, it is easy to apply and cures into a hard resin. Make sure you buy REAL shellac, pic related.

A lot of companies like to name their synthetic lacquers things like 'shellac' or 'tung oil' when there's not a drop of anything of the sort in it.

One thing from the wiki article makes me think I had an old batch when I did mine recently
>Liquid shellac has a limited shelf life (about 1 year), so is sold in dry form for dissolution before use. Liquid shellac sold in hardware stores is often marked with the production (mixing) date, so the consumer can know whether the shellac inside is still good. Some manufacturers (e.g., Zinsser) have ceased labeling shellac with the production date but the production date may be discernible from the production lot code. Alternatively, old shellac may be tested to see if it is still usable: a few drops on glass should quickly dry to a hard surface. Shellac that remains tacky for a long time is no longer usable.

they did it so that they could support the thinner single stack mags
then Century opens up the magwells and trims those plates to accommodate double stack mags

idea may have come from RPKs, but they did it to accommodate single stack mags
I guess the dimples would've been too deep and not able to be opened up later

>>
>>33161351
Neither dimples nor the plates support mags in any way.
Nor are they "cut down" when the rifles are converted from a singlestack magwell.
Their purpose is to guide the mag into its seated position without jamming up when rocking the mag into the reciever at an odd angle (anything other that completely perpendicular)

What supports the mag is the lower rail inside the receiver.

>>33161451
On mine, the top of the plate (where it contacts the lower rail) is bent 90 degrees so it faces into the receiver, and the bent leg sticks into the receiver the same length as the lower rail.
I'm sure I worded that poorly and my camera WILL NOT capture it, so I spent over 9000 hours in MSpaint drawing it. (the length of the bent in leg of the plate is exaggerated and might be 1/16th of an inch in reality. give or take. it is definitely MUCH shorter than the vertical portion of the plate)

So on mine it looks like they both support the mag. Though I can see no evidence of it being cut down or unfinished as the first response to you suggested.

On mine it goes in maybe 1/4 of an inch above that lip, and that little lip on the plate supports it as much as the lower rail does. They're the same length.

Yeah, ok.
They don't have to do with much, other than to guide the mag up into its seated position, and maybe help minorly with side to side mag slop.
The mag sits well above them when rocked in.
>Although on the safety side, it's not resting right against the lower rail.
I think this is a result of the semi auto nature of it.
That space is where the sear would reside.
On the other side, it's right up against the rail.

Gas tubes are usually fit to the rifles they will be sent out of the factory with.
Like with most AK parts, tolerance stacking can become an issue when trying to replace parts.
>Check out post 9

http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43139

>>33163750
That's not necessarily true.
It's the "correct" one but an akm tube should fit a 100 series/saiga rifle, in the same caliber, fine.
Might need some fitment, and if it rattles the spring will help alleviate that.
>>
>>33164043
Yeah, all that's coming up is shit with rails, out of stock, and a bulgarian tube thats just as much as the saiga one, which with that being the case I'd just order the saiga one.

So I'm looking into getting another AK and it's either an SLR 104 or perhaps a Wasr. I went to a gunshow for shits and giggles and found the lee armory booth. They had one of these for 699 "special price, but same on site.
https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/lee-armory-battlefield-pick-up-romanian-ak-47-detail.html?Itemid=0

Question: Is the romy above "better" than a Wasr? There is a small price difference, but if they're a reputable builder, and they seem to be on AK files, is the romy vpg a better deal, seeing as I get a dong grip and the kewl look?

I never claimed you said to love it, I'm addressing your claim:
>Pretty sure if anyone had magpul sets I would shit on them and not you. Maybe you were high? I hate fucking magpul,
That, no, in reality that is not the case because you replied to numerous people shitting on magpul with indignation and not ONCE did you shit on the anon posting their magpulled rifle. This sort of emboldened inconsistent shitposting, compounded by your own inflated ego which you find necessary to shove in everyone's face with a tripcode, leaves any sort of principled man with no choice but to fettle, albeit in vain, the shitposting egotist bullshit and general self promotion of an individual such as yourself on this Nepalese silkworm cultivating plantation. It is a sign of the times when "men" such as yourself may roam free on a place of higher discourse and, I might add, a place of intellectual honesty and do nothing but continually obfuscate the truth with your half baked lies and wimble womble. You're no better than a single mother, or dare I even mention, a homosexual you son of a whore and loathsome scum. If it weren't for people like you, the chinamen, and the negro, this world and this place would be in a far better condition for the men of principle to further the cause of decent and honest debate or in the case of this place, consultation. People come here for advice as important as what rifle should they buy because they're too bad at managing money that they refuse to drop a few bills extra on a rifle, or better yet to ask the same questions every thread with the expectation of getting a different answer. The expectation of course is then perpetuated and reinforced by bastards like yourself. God rest your soul and fuck off faggot.

I can't speak for the POSP but it's supposed to be the same as the PSO/PO, you'll need a different optic mount to put it on an AK rail though, but RPK rail should accept SVD mounts

>>33167317
Yugo guns have yugo rails, every other AK has AK rails, SVDs have SVD rails, RPKs have "universa;" I think they're called, and then anything with an N designation has a different style ral as well, but all slav NV should fit normal rails also as far as I know

>>
>>33167340
Well shit I'm sold, thanks man. Are there different models or is it just different magnifications?
>>
>>33167340
>Was it that dude who sells all the "Russian and Belarus" optics?

I don't know. He is in america and his ad had a picture of one russian hammer gray PSO-1. The text was worded something like how he had 5 of these to sell, and the one you receive might not be the one in the picture. So that's how he got out of giving me back my money.
Plus he had been there for forever with a 100% feedback and I was brand new, so everybody there sucked his cock and told me to fuck off.
Don't get me wrong, the POSP from Belarus is a good scope, but I wanted a russian scope.
>>
>>33167369
Most of them are 4x but if you're not autistic like me and are alright with buying a POSP they make them in fixed 6x and 8x as well, but you can also buy a 3-9x24 in the same style as the 4x POSP but a tiny bit beefier

Also note that the dragunov reticle which is standard for the PSO is cammed for 7.62x54r, so it won't be quite on with 5.45 and definitely not with 7.62x39. If it's gonna be dedicated for 7.62x39 you can go with a Simonov reticle instead, assuming the look doesn't bother you. Just don't bother getting anything with a big game hunter reticle, it looks like shit

These are HEAVY optics also, mine weighs a pound and some if I recall right, and this one is about as light as you get for PSO type scopes

>>33167388
Damn that's scammy as fuck, did you at least leave a negative rep? I woulda fucked with him heavy if that was me
>>
>>33167388
That's fucked, man. That shit is so annoying. Just because he has good feedback doesn't mean he shouldn't be held responsible when he fucks up. If I've never been charged with a crime in my life I don't get a free fucking pass when I do a hit and run
>>
>>33167445
I'm fine with heavy, I'll get stronk and it pleases my autism. Are there any that are made for or work better with 5.45 than others?

>>33167179
You haven't shot with it yet, correct? This weekend will be your first? Are you excited?

I'm on the fence about picking a magnified Slav optic for my SLR, depending on how you like yours I might pick one up. I'd prefer one of those neat Zeiss ZFK scopes but they're too much money for something I'm only wanting for fun that a ~$250 Russian/Belorussian scope will accomplish for me well enough, and for as much money as a ZFK I'd rather just buy a Kashtan

>>
>>33167492
You got banned?! Fuck I'm mad for you, dude that's bullshit, and that dude's excuse is a total copout. That only applies to condition, if I put up a picture of an slr-107 and say yours might not look like this and then send you a WASR, you'd be in the fucking right to be angry
>>
>>33167485
Yea, and it's about fuckin time really, it's been too long since I've gotten to go shooting

I was on the verge of getting a Kashtan for like two weeks but for a 2.8x fixed optic 650 is just too damn much

>>33167471
You can get a Kashtan, a ZFK, or a PO3.5, but that's about your options for an optic with a 5.45 BDC

And they'll all run you 500+, the Kashtan and ZFK probably 7-800

>>33167560
Hey man, if you order any of these optics off of ebay, don't get anything from sellers in china. They will be cheap knock offs. US, Russia, or Belarus are usually the real thing.
I've ordered a couple of things from Russia (PKA and PKA Venezuela) and both times I got exactly what I ordered and paid a fair price. You just gotta be patient in dealing with the shipping times from there. Customs and all.

Ongoing thread on how and why the 5.45x39 is the worst small arms cartidge in the world today.

Which way should I go with SBR'ing my Draco? I probably won't even file for the tax stamp for a year but I want to get the parts since y' never know with how turbulent the AK and AK parts market is.

summary

>doesnt do anything 7.62 or 5.56 do better
>limited cheapo imported ammo availability
> zero quality ammo available
>very niche round in the U.S so brass will never exist

5.45 is garbage, 15 cents a round 7n6 was the only thing it had going for it, now its just stupid.
>>
>>33167996
I'd say standard fixed tang. Way more options.
>>
>>33168021
>Muh economic raisins mean the cartridge sucks
Yet has better ballistics than 5.56 in a shorter cartridge. Fuck off with your dumb shit
>>
>>33167884
I did the same shit to mine
except I shaved the dong a little bit to allow 40 round mags to rock in
my only 40 round mag right now is Romanian too
>>
>>33168040

read the thread, it doesnt have better ballistics then 5.56, much worse actually.

The flip side of that is that when folded it's a bit longer than the underfolder. Also just to clarify, if I'm going underfolder I'm going with a Polish one, I'll just have to get the holes welded up and redrilled and then the rifle refinished which I'd be doing no matter what anyway. The main reason for the Polish underfolder vs the Romanian is that I can't find a pre-drilled Romanian underfolder rear trunnion.
>>
>>33168083
Also the stock angle, like pictured, on the Romy underfolder is aids
>>
>>33167996
go for the wire folder
Romania actually issued (issues?) rifles in that configuration and you've got a lot more options
plus, underfolders are uncomfortable as fuck
>>
>>33168151
Fair enough, the only thing stopping me is the extra length when folded. Plus as far as historical accuracy goes I'd be using an DDR wire folder most likely.
>>
>>33168050
Lol are we reading the same thread? All I see is that it's not as available and there's less diverse loadings from it. 5.45 does much better ballistically at realistic battlefiield ranges and out of short barrels
>>
>>33168102
Well man. Underfolders aren't my cup of tea but I understand the aesthetic behind it.
>>
>>33168174
yeah, but you can change is easy as fuck later
not so with underfolder
easy to drop in a proper Romanian underfolder later or a fixed stock or magpul or whatever
>>
>>33168177
Ha I love these threads. How serious they get and ""practical"". Sure the debate is entertaining but when they frame it in the civilian warfare setting I just lap it up with lel. They get so serious hahaha
>>
>>33168290
>Hurrr comparing this thirty year old ammo to modern specialty 5.56 loads we see that 5.56 is better
NO FUCKING SHIT. Jesus we're comparing the round, not specific loadings. Compare it to 5.56 from the same era and I guarantee 5.45 does better ballistically
>>

So it has been brought to my attention that I could lose my wits and grab my gas tube in the middle of a dildo barrage and burn my hand terribly as I'm being penetrated to death. After serious consideration, I'm considering sliding a bunched up wool sock over my gas tube and wrapping it in MultiCam tape. Any other suggestions that don't involve me changing anything besides the gas tube? Once upon a time I had considered getting the Ultimak gas tube to pair with my Ultimak rails, but I don't even think that will help in this scenario. pls serious repond

I am partial to Chinese drums. You pay around $130-200 but they are the best money can buy aside from RUssian. Russian are top loader and much more difficult to load.

Goto AKF or FB groups and post a WTB or search and they pop up every week or so.

It will be fine until it's not but you could've gotten a much better AK for the money.
