Hey /k/, I've decided after lurking for a while and getting my monies up, I've done a little research and have about everything planned but have a few questions.
Is there a full tool kit besides the ones on midway? And are those good enough?
Second, are fluted barrels a meme? I plan on getting an 18-20" barrel and am interested in getting one if I can be pointed to quality brands.

I just got it today, it was amazing to build. The Rear detent spring and bolt catch are both tapped. You just screw them in.

Depending on which tier of PSA upper you get, their barrels can be pretty good. The CHF and premium line are good quality, and you can always swap out the handguard later.
IIRC the ones with MBUS sights on them right now are Freedom line uppers. I've used a freedom on a past build with no issues, but it's not their best product.

I think you'd be fine either way for a first AR, regardless of if you built with a BA or bought a PSA upper.

I use a pic mount for any tape switches and if I can't get the cable secure with some feature of the handguard I ziptie it. I've never used tape on any of my own rifles after being forced to have duct tape on my issued rifle's stock for all of 3 hours and had to fight with the residue for the rest of the deployment due to nobody having goo-gone.
