it's not that, it's that my glasses are progressive so they have distortion zones that make things blurry. Plus I have to look through them at a specific angle to focus at a specific distance, and idk how that would work with a scope. the problem is my vision is shit without them except at long ranges, like everything closer than 1k is blurry for me

also, should I trust the store salesmen when I go to like Cabela's or somewhere, or are they just going to try to jew me out of as much money as they can

Honestly man, pick up some magpul backup sights, and just practice / save money for a quality scope. Most of the cheep knock off sights are airsoft and will break internally due to recoil.
As for too much magnification if its variable powered, nothing to worry about, for CQB just cant your rifle and shoot on a 45 looking down the barrel.

You can get some really decent variable optics from Vortex (lifetime no-fucks-given warranty, you can put the optic up your ass and send it back for replacement and they'll do it) or Primary Arms for not a lot of scratch ($300 or less)

Can't answer the second question. My eyesight is shit but I don't know anything about progressive lenses, I have regular glasses lense brand glasses lense and I can shoot my rifles just fine. Go to a gun shop with your glasses and explain your predicament, and ask to look through some mounted scopes. See what happens.

Do you shoot with both eyes open? Also when you use irons once you get your target picture etc focus on the front sight the rear one will be blurry but you will be more accurate. Also look away off to a side or something that will also break the stress of the sight picture.

Well in that case the railmount 1 and 2 are good at 300 and 600 lumens respectively. I've noticed that one of them experiences some passive battery drain when kept in the safe, but it's nothing a quarter turn on the tail switch cap when stowed won't fix. I guess if boils down to how high on the list of priorities a light is. I might upgrade to more SF lights but in the mean time, I'm pretty satisfied with the SL ones I'm using.
